Hyena's Never-Ending Adventures In Growing

Gotta love a dialed space!

Penny, at this point it's become totally fun. I love it. Almost like having a girlfriend, only way less chance of breaking up my marriage...

Peace, Hyena

Highya HM,

Those cola shots just may be the best looking buds yet! Pretty amazing with 4 weeks down (since flip), and 4 to go. Keep on keepin' on. Happy Smokin'

Boy, Summer's going fast! So here's a delayed

HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

I went to our far Northern Michigan place with my buddy Jack for the weekend to play golf and eat steaks. Man oh man we had fun! Great golf on amazing courses. I'm pretty good but it was all I could do to hang with them, I live for that shit. So on the way up I stopped to do a small bit of maintenance, last Thursday to be exact. Just now in my office to share the pics because there's no internet connection at our place up North. The way it should be, really.

But all is well with the girls! Tent #1 is a blooming wonderland...

Week five of flower is just busting it. Everything on schedule or a hair ahead even...this room might be ready to chop in as few as 3 weeks from the look of the budz!

Frosty and filling in nicely...

I'm getting great density everywhere, which I attribute to the perfect canopy height.

I finally understand the importance of cross-lighting and there is an optimal distance from the light for that. Now I scrog carefully and then time my stretch so the canopy will finish with about 3 feet below the lights and allow lots of bright sideways penetration which results in better filling in down the branches.

Yes it's looking like this crop will be very tasty.

The news from Tent #2 is no news. Just tucked some branches under the scrog net here and there and filled the res. All looking perfect as they stretch to fill in the scrog space.

Buttoned everything up and coming back next Thursday...which is actually tomorrow because I was gone and couldn't post this.

In the meantime, we had a great weekend in Michigan, golfing and smoking the finest ganja on Earth in large quantities. Actually I have to smoke on the golf course because it helps me control my emotions. Golf is full of things that can piss off the Pope.

Peace, Hyena

Tent 1 looking super, golf is like coon hunting. Golf you hit a ball it goes into the brush and you spend the rest of the day hunting for it. Coon hunting you turn loose a bunch crazy ass dogs and spend the rest of the night hunting for them. Pretty much the same deal

Golf is full of things that can piss off the Pope.

Quoted for truth.

Of course you nail that one shot now and then, and it grabs you and won’t let go. Stupid fucking game.

I used to play a lot better. Now, not so much. What makes it bad is I still have the mindset of then, not now. So my expectations of myself are too high, and it makes things worse.

Trying to get that in check though.

And just like that, BAM!

Another HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

Went up again today and it's been a week since yesterday, so to speak...

And of course, always a slight problem...

In Tent #2 everybody was looking pretty thirsty. I instantly knew what it was...I turn off the valve between the outer and inner 50-gallon reservoirs in that tent when I am filling both, they are connected. After filling them I open the valve again. Except last Thursday. That's what you get for rushing! No problem though, even though they look droopy I could see it was not serious yet and I re-hydrated everybody. In an hour they were all back to their perky selves.

And in Tent #1, another week closer to the chop...

I'm amazed at this run, it may be 10% ahead of the last one which is a bit strange because they are just branches of the same exact plant. But I have upped the Terpinator this go around and they seem to be loving it. Drink up, my pretties.

Now we are getting to the stage where everybody is getting mighty photogenic...it is always a special time when I start taking snaps that are truly beautiful. These buds are becoming fat and sticky...how much more can they swell? I doesn't know. But for now, here they are...enjoy the beauty of Cannabis.

Summer is wonderful. I'm loving this run of sticky, stinky beauties.

So that's the story and maybe three weeks max until the next huge chop chop...not looking forward to the work but absolutely to the buddage and the sweet smell of success. Not there yet but on track I think. So I pull out an especially nice bud from one of their mother plants...

There's just nothing nicer than a dank nug you grew yourself. I never get tired of it.

Have a great weekend!

Peace, Hyena.

Yep. Those buds of your current grow are going to be monsters. I just love that consistency. It's a bit like golf. Build a reliable, repeatable swing and there you go. Great job brother. :adore:

Lookin good there Mr Merica!

Well, not the first view, but everything else.

That ain't gonna hurt em. Nothin wrong with letting them get a little thirsty now and then.

And nothing like Sea Duty to go and screw up all your hard work.

Highya HM,

Love the trichome pictures! Never get tired of looking at your grow pics. Happy Smokin'

I know it's been awhile, so here's a

HYENA'S GROW HOUSE update!

Actually it was Wednesday that I went up to the GH to do the Lord's work once more, I have just been really really busy so I have neglected to post it but things are getting interesting once more!

Starting with the youngsters in Tent #2...

This canopy is already too big I think, it grows so fast I realized it is past time to flip them to 12/12. Done.

Otherwise, these clones of clones are amazing, almost like automatic weed. Add water and watch. The beauty of having just one plant in essence is the purest form of indoor growing. Everything perfect always. No differences in phenotypes, or nute sensitivity, or height, or anything. It's literally one big plant.

So nine weeks until a room of fat buds. I know because it looks like nine weeks will be the number for the Tent #1 girls...

They are swelling like there's no tomorrow. I cut samples and looked them over under the microscope and all clear trichs still which means I can give this two more weeks no problem, which would make it nine weeks total flowering time when I chop. Almost twice the yield and nine week finish, hard to go back to 12 week-in-flower Sativas when you have strains that do that.

This entire tent runs on one 55-gallon reservoir...with this large biomass and Summer temps of low 80s in the tent, there is only about 10-15 gallons max left in the barrel when I arrive. That means they only get a true fill up for 3-4 days then gradually have to settle for less and less. Doesn't seem to hurt anything by the look of the buds! But the PH spikes to over 7 when the res gets that low.

The PPM also gets above 2500. But all these things are okay once the newly filled and balanced res fills everyone up again. So my theory that a range of PH over a week's time allows for fuller-spectrum absorption of nutrient elements seems to hold. At least it doesn't seem to hurt.

So we are reaching the point where the nug shots are getting really amazing. Here are some to enjoy...

Hope you enjoy those...I will do a totally amazing set of final portraits as usual in about two weeks. Right before I go officially insane having to trim up another, even bigger roomful of budz. I have the chop day scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th. Hell day. All alone, with a two-inch pair of scissors, one man against 12 huge plants. It's a bitch. Without even a dog to keep me company. But I have learned that dogs may be loyal and all that, but you can't completely trust them...

Guard your stash. Until next time.

Peace, Hyena

I don’t sweat over ph as much as I used to.

Yeah I agree Penny, seems almost like if they hit every part of the PH range over a week they do the best. Plants regulate what they take in and they don't use nutrients up immediately so it works.

Peace, Hyena

How you like the Bluelab? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on one.

I love the crap out of mine. Required? Nah. But it’s a very, very nice to have convenience. Saves a little time mixing, but being able to just glance at the wall whenever you want and see the EC/temp/pH is great.
