I am not familiar with other methods but I'm sure they exist.

I have not tried this silver colloidal spray technique yet. But it seems pretty straightforward. Even stoners seem to be able to do it.

The emulsion I got is called Tiresias Mist. I've read and seen enough to know it's simple and it does the job.

You can probably make your own colloidal silver solution but I have a general life rule: if it saves me a thousand bucks I'll do it myself if humanly possible. If it saves me twenty screw it. Some things are really worth just buying. :riskybusiness:

Peace, Hyena

Hey bud. I see you are doing very very well up to this point I have read. Before I go any further and lest I forget, If you won't mind look at a blog I posted from Nismo12 about colloidal silver method.

Awesome work impressive, and wow dude can you write. Impressive :passitleft: The combination of your quality of product and your telling of the tale,
Impressed.

Okay I gotta get back to reading this

Morning, H.M.,

AC exhaust - does it have access to a chimney? Can you put in a "metal chimney", something like metalbestos? Just food for thought. Might trigger a better solution. Oh, BTW, let me know when you enter your photos. I'll vote for you!! So amazing everytime I see your grow. Just the logistics, how everything works so well together. Great work! Best of Buds To You

No, just going outside through a soffit. Small push fan on 6" ducting. Timer. Not a hard one, just a pain in the ass to do secretly. I think I'll get my chance later this week.

And thanks.

It's Tuesday! Hope yours is great!

Just another routine day in the grow lab...the flower patch is thickening day by day. I can see the tall phenos filling out a bit more. Sativa-dominant buds just take longer. But the unique buzz is so worth it.

20170327_064907.jpg

I love this time, when all the shaping and bending is over, all the weaving and plucking is behind us and the hard work of the grow is done. Now just the beautiful spectacle of nature changing these weeds into one of the world's most fragrant bouquets. You can almost see the entire biomass pulsing with life as it swells and becomes covered with frost. The aroma in the grow room is absolutely delicious and I could breathe it in all day. Ahhhhh.

20170327_064847.jpg

I only allow myself a few precious minutes. It's so wonderful just to be near them.

I must remember that Spring has sprung where I live. Today's outdoor temps will hit 65. With this warmth has come the bugs so the mites and other horrors won't be far behind. Back to really thinking about what I'm wearing and where I've been, every single time before I pop in the lab. My primary fear is mites and the only way they'll ever get in here is on me, that's just the brutal reality. It's a mistake I simply cannot make. This is literally a solid hedge of weed. Mites in here would be impossible to treat.

Project 25 needs to turn the important first corner successfully, which is growing a taproot that reaches the nute solution. Once that root hits water there's little chance of losing the plant. Like a mother bird I have to hand-water the babies each day during the first week. My little birds. So cute.

20170327_064754.jpg

Those roots should show out the bottom of the net pots today or tomorrow. Everybody looks healthy up top, except one of the Wild Thailand Ryder auto seedlings looks like a runt. I don't really care about these autos, I kind of wish I hadn't even popped them. They will have to go outside when I transplant and we'll see how they do. Might be instructional to see how (or if) they survive any late frost which around here we can get until May.

20170327_064803.jpg

The Black Hyena looks vibrant. I love the red veins on the leaves.

20170327_064814.jpg

The installation of the 12 inch supplemental box fan worked great to lower the temps in the nursery by 10-15 degrees. Perfect. It's a temporary mitigation, since the temps will climb crazily within a month or two and I'll need to install that AC unit. But for now it's reduced the threat to the babies.

I leave you with a shot of a frosting bud.

Have a great day!

Hyena, just would like to ask a small q, are you using plain water in your seedling box?
Been reading Project 21 and noticed you go with half recommended nutes throughout your grow.
Also any experience with Fulic acid or Humic?

Thanks for the questions my friend.

For starting plants, I use plain water with just a shot of Cal/Mag and one shot of Grow in 30 gallons of water. For the first three weeks that's all they need. Then once they go into the containers in the main grow room they get everything.

I'm assuming you mean folic acid. There's fulvic acid also but it's a different thing.

It is well documented that folic acid or vitamin B9 is a central cofactor for one-carbon transfer reactions which are involved in many cellular reactions such as synthesis of purines, metabolism of amino acids, a glycine to serine conversion, synthesis of methionine and the formation of lignin, chlorophyll and choline and also in the photorespirations cycle.

So it can be used as an organic fertilizer to increase the efficiency of the plant and preserve its nutrients.

Acids such as Fulvic and Humic can also be beneficial. Humic and fulvic acids are intermediate chelators. Chela means claw, so chelates are organic molecules that attach to mineral ions like a claw, holding them tightly enough so they don’t get locked up in the soil, but loosely enough so they are available to the plant on demand. Humic acid molecules are larger than fulvic acid molecules and make good soil conditioners. Fulvic acids are smaller, more biologically active molecules that are faster-acting and make excellent foliar sprays. Both improve the uptake of minerals, stimulate plant growth and improve the plant’s natural resistance to environmental stresses.

With that said, I don't use any of these things. I have no doubt that I could play with a lot of substances and perhaps get 10-15% more from my plants. Then really increase the lighting intensity and add CO2 for even more. I might do all this stuff if I wanted to work like a dog with a degree in chemistry every day, but I don't. My yields are already great and I am maxing out my grow space every grow.

So the bottom line is, we can do all sorts of complex stuff to get that extra 10%...or just grow one more plant.

I don't do this to prove anything, especially how smart I am. I believe the smartest growers keep it the simplest. And spend more time doing other things.

Everyone must seek his own path. But if I wanted to fiddle endlessly, I'd buy a violin.

Peace, Hyena

Thanks bro, that really helps clear things up.
I agree with keeping it simple and effective, will be following your next project veeery closely. May even start my own journal if time is on my side.
Have you got experience with Barneys Farm? Received my order a week ago and busting to pop some seeds but shitting myself in case I duff it up again.
Peace and thank you

I am sure most major seedbanks offer quality seeds, Barney's Farm included. But they can only ship what some breeder produced, and there are variables no matter how you produce seeds...

Concentrate on developing sound seed sprouting techniques, to give all seeds the best chance, including using a real seed mat, good rooting plugs, and just the right amount of hydration through the process.

And then ya get what ya get as they say.

Started to go threw journal never realized you were the one that did the attic how to grow weed journal. Totally loved it!! I got only to third chapter and had to get work but wanted to get subbed up so I don't lose it. Gonna finish and catch up when I get off this evening. So far that I read u got things looking fantastic!!

Thanks. And welcome.

As I learn, I write. That started a year and a half ago and there's no end to the learning I guess!

I'm not the greatest expert but any help I can give just ask.

Peace, Hyena

I just started reading this one too .

Hydro Guy Gets Dirty In MA

Welcome bro. Enjoy the ride on the twisted track of the rickety and dangerous roller coaster that is in my head. There's no seat belt so hold on!

Any help I can offer, I will. Just ask.

Peace, Hyena

Yup I agree with ya hyena, why complicate matters and keep it simple. I use calmag and floranova bloom, thats it. Getting some phenomenal growth.
I'd rather spend my time doing other things :)

Hyena,
Heya Bud. I just thought I'd drop by and say I been going over this journal over the course of the last few days and what fun. Really.
I haven't been growing inside very long and won't have anything that remotely resembles the results of your produce for a while. If ever.
That being said I started a journal of the GrowStar 1000 I receive Monday.
If you have time every now and again maybe drop by the spot to check it out.Cannibalweed And The Growstar 1000 From Twilight LED
Okay I gotta get. Busy day ahead.
Later man. Good luck and great day to you

Thank you. I appreciate that.

You know, a few years ago I thought this through for over a year before I did it, then realized:

-You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
-The hardest part of doing anything is starting.

Now I have also learned that when you do this you learn every day, and the horizon of possibility becomes steadily wider. Like me, you might be pleasantly surprised how much you learn to do with whatever space you have.

I'm looking forward to trying the Twilight LED GS1000. The biggest mistake I see across the board is using too little light for the space. This light should give you more than you need to pack out a 4x4 or possibly even 5x5 grow tent if you use it right.

Keep in touch!

Happy Friday! The 121st day of Project 24, and the 21st day of Project 25!

First, P24...

20170331_085837.jpg

OH YEAH! This collection of mostly-sativa Blue Dreams is taking its sweet time to plump up as sativa-dominant strains usually do. However it is getting very juicy and frosty most everywhere, especially in the back where I can see some total monsters. I can't get back there to really see and touch them everything's just too thick. Plus if I try to reach back in there my arm will brush so many colas it will instantly become sticky and stinky, no good for the flowers or my arm.

Density? You could say that.

20170331_091047.jpg

The two giraffe-necked phenos are beautiful in their tallness. I know by the end of the grow it seems like the tall phenos are producing less, they look thinner but that's an optical illusion. There is about the same total biomass in the tall and short phenos because their buds grow at the same rate. The tall ones just spread it out so it looks like less.

20170331_091422.jpg

There's still another several weeks of filling that will happen on these. I clipped a sample bud 5 days ago and tried it today, the smoke is already awesome.

Meanwhile, in the Project 25 nursery...

20170331_085705.jpg

Little Blue Hyenas everywhere!

20170331_085722.jpg

And our newest, never-before-seen strain...White Hyena!

This strain, also a product of the original crossing in Project 21, consists of Blue Dream x White Widow. Perhaps the most potential of the three crosses, but you can only grow so many things at a time so this is the first time we've seen it. If it's as good as her sisters we will have our third seed line set. Now that's exciting!

20170331_085811.jpg

Everyone has those nice taproots in the water now. They will just grow and grow for the next few weeks.

All 15 seedlings look perfect and the nursery temperature is controlled for the near term. Had the chance to refill all reservoirs, topped off the main and the nursery bubblers. PH to 6. A couple shots of Micro and Bloom. All set.

I will be going away for the weekend so everyone will be alone with their thoughts in the grow lab. Hope they're thinking big!

I leave you with a taste of what is about to come...just a few weeks until harvest!

Happy Tuesday...

Just smoking a bowl of Blue this morning, hoping your day is going well also.

I would love to post an update on the ladies, and the children, but I can't...we got home from our three-day trip Sunday night and since then I haven't had an opportunity to sneak up to the grow lab. The lights are only on from 9:45 at night until 9:45 in the morning, so if I can't get in there during those hours it ain't happening. Might be days, who knows?

I keep track of the temperature in both chambers, and look in on the proceedings, using this handy little tool...

20170130_085850.jpg

This digital baby monitor switches between two cameras, and gives the temperature. It's an easy way to see general condition of the produce and that the lights are on/off. It uses an encrypted signal so a neighbor can't accidentally intercept a cute little picture of my grow room.

The beauty of hydro...you can just leave them alone.

So, I'm watching them.

Maybe tomorrow...

Peace, Hyena
