Hyena Merica's Blue Hyena & Black Hyena Growers Thread

Very nice Hyena.... Something for me to look forward to. How many days in flower are you??

I just took some more pics today. These plants are getting pretty big for only 4 week veg .. maybe a little short of 4 weeks they were tiny when I put them in flower.
Not any more...

My BH #2 - the main stem is very fat all the way to the top. BH #1 is getting a VERY wide skirt on her too so a lot of colas.

Black Hyena - family pic from today ... up at the lights BH #2 and BH #1 is getting wide with lots of flower sites. Gonna be a nice show here in a week or so.

BH #2 the tall one in the front @ 6' and BH #1 in the back there.. BH #1 grew 3-4" just today .... stalk is thick too. I think she's going to need to get bent over. Hate to do it to her but someone's gotta do it.

BH #2 BH #1 in the back and BH #3 on the right just started flowering.

BH #2 - wow thick stemmed this one is..

BH #3 - Flowers

Buffalato #3 - lets get the party started. She's turning black already and just barely flowering. She's taking her good ole time like the others did and will bulk up those nuggs when she decides she's good'n ready.

Killin it BB!!

You are going to get some meaty colas in the end, these babies just keep filling in...

Some of the Hyenas are extremely thick-stemmed. That pheno is stout and great for supercropping, takes it quite well and rebuilds the break with a huge nug of stem tissue then can hold a lot of weight.

Keep it up!

Peace, Hyena

Going to have to do something about her... she's @6'3" today. Growing 3" every day and she hasn't stopped. Thought I'd get manageable plant sizes if I did a short veg... Ah well. My soil must be dialed it right.

That big one has clawed small fans .. is that normal on your plants?? I've tried everything but EWC tea...
I did give them all a good strong IPM... last round I had a small amount of mites so I wanted to hit em hard early in flower so I don't have the same repeat shit. One of my other plants didn't like the IPM much but all the other plants are fine. This big one looks good but for the clawed intermediate leaves. All the large fans are praying as usual.

What the expected flower time on these, 8-9 weeks??

Wow! Blue Dreamx White Widow? How could you go wrong? Those babies sure know how to stack some buds, huh? @BobBrown-you wanna borrow some rope buddy? That girl need to be wrangled into submission in a bad way! lol! :) Good stuff. So, how does one get ahold od some of these beans? Are they private stock? Or sold at the regular seedbanks? And yes, i just read all of this before posting. So if you mentioned it before, I apologize. I must have missed it, or just been a lil medicated. :)
Peace, Sparks

Welcome Sparks... Rope you say??

Man if my plants need rope I'm doing sump'tin wrong! J/K

I'm an Organic Soil grower.. use Coots mix and make my own vermi-compost from stuff I grow outdoors and kitchen scraps. Looks like this going into my soil mix.

Thissy here is black gold less than 24 hrs mixed and already growing "stuff" & covered in mycelium:

Rope... don't need any rope - That's what the ceiling is for! :D

and super-crop... I think this is how you do it. My first try. I usually use ropes and wire. These plants the stems are so thick they don't need a lot of help TBH.

BH #2 - Super cropped she's still stretching even after bending over and cracking the stem. She was @ about 120 degrees south then the top turned up and started growing north again. Amazing really.

BH #1 - super cropped - did this tonight.

BH #1 - before bending over the top

Brownie, I have flowered some for as long as 12 weeks, they just keep getting bigger and bigger...

My current Blue Hyena will hit ten weeks in flower tomorrow...I think it probably can go another week or even two...I want to pack on the weight in this final phase so until the heat becomes too much I will keep 'em flowering.

The clawed leaves are a localized aberration common to "inbred" varieties...remember, the original Blue Hyena was the result of one rogue flower on a Blue Dream plant, that fertilized a Haze...Black Hyena was the same thing, that same flower also impregnated a White Widow in the same grow. So a lot of "new" varieties that start as a result of cross-pollination from a rogue preflower start with potential little genetic flaws (like claws) built in...but most don't hurt the overall plant, they just give it a little personality, eh? And it could also be a result of something you applied to the plant, though that's a guess because I'm not familiar enough with various things that treat mites, etc., to know what side effects they might have on the plant.

Anyway...welcome to my world, where plants keep stretching until they blow off the damn roof! Next run, try topping the individual branches earlier and more aggressively, and go for density and lots of main stems. Because of the tallness factor of the Hyenas in general, I like to make them bushier so I top the main after 6 branches (3 nodes) then top those as well where needed to achieve a lower and bushier shape.

Overall nice job my friend! I'm looking forward to seeing those massive buds in 5-6 weeks!

Here's my Blue Hyena as of this week...

She's putting on the weight and likes to dress in fur!

Now DATS a cola, baby! This is what you might be looking at in the coming 5-6 weeks so get ready!

Peace, Hyena

Hey bro- been trying to PM you but seem to be having technical difficulties! LOL! Idont know how. Or its not letting me. Computer keeps saying, "oops, we've ran into a problem" and then nothing. Dont know if its me or these darn updates? I even went as far as to post in the "FAQ" threads just before posting here. Sorry. Im not too very good with computers and all this new tech stuff. Hahahaha. New? We've them for a long time now. Hard to teach this old dog new tricks, i guess. More like a stuborn, old, half-broked down mule.

BTW- the FAQ's thread is called," How to send PM to another member"

Thanks for the advice Hyena... yea even after super-cropping they just turn up and keep growing.

I generally like to grow plants that I don't have to work on too much so 1st round wanna see whats what.

I like big plants.. for sure.

IPM for mites and other pests is very very weak mix of spinosad with goodies added all home made organic and fulvic acid with extra silica.
For the leaf curl it's not very prevalent and now that the room temps are down into the 60-70s it's almost gone. I'm thinking the curl is heat related now tbh. Cooler temps now almost no curl. I don't really care much about it as long as the plants are growing healthy which they are.

Gonna follow your cola show with a cola show I'm hoping! Your plants look really really GREAT.

Love that fade pic with those big ass green and silver fatty colas.

These plants exhibit a good deal of Sativa traits and get large woah. So happy to see that. This is a gardeners dream.

I have a Indica heavy GSC plant finishing up ... house smells like Cucumber and Mellons... hit of dank... just a very slight fueley sweetness. Almost like I have a Chemdawg begging me for a shot in flower.

Cool thing about spring on the E/C - there's flowers blooming EVERYWHERE ... hard to smell cannabis this time of year. So freaking awesome...

SPRING Spring spring..
GREEN Green green.

:Namaste:

Little update on my Black Hyena. They are just getting going really. I have a Jurassic plant (Buffalato) finishing up and will have more room. After the harvest I'll do some re-arranging so there's lots more room for the fatty colas.

Family Picture:

BH #2 on the left BH #3 in the middle and Buffalato on the right.
Looks a little like a jungle but it's going to get a lot more interesting once those flowers start to fatten up. There's a lot of colas there.

I think I'm going to need some bigger jars!

BH #1 in the back and BH #2 in the front, just a mass of flowers right now.

BH #1 - top bent over

BH #1 - a little closer can see the size of that main cola and the bend I put on her.

BH #1 - she's got some REAL big fan leaves...

BH #1 - close up of the super crop thing

BH #2 - close up of the super crop thing

Hey Big, yeah thanks I seem to grow a lot of big plants. Thought I'd have these under control. The only plant that didn't grow to the ceiling was the runt and she's 5' tall now.

I'm one to not really train plants but I'm re-thinking my approach here for sure.

After my harvest of my Buffalato, I'm going to re-arrange the grow space (more room) and trim all the under growth (again) for the run down to finish. Should end up being a great grow.

These ladies are drinking up a lot of water @ 1gallon per plant per day. I have a reservoir on automatic watering. I just put 50 gal in end of last week and it's almost empty again. It's not even that hot yet.

I have a friend in Cali that's growing some BD x BD x WW, seems to be a very popular strain on the W/C.

Can't wait till cola frenzy. Its coming...

Cola party getting started - The #1 plant not pictured has a main cola as big around as my leg and longer. She's in the back so hard to get pics of her.
We are at around 50 days in flower. So expect to get interesting here. Lots of colas.
