Hutch's Perpetual Grow Journal

Our two photoperiod seeds fell to the bottom of the glass when I tapped them with my finger last night. This morning I placed them between paper towels on a dish, moistened well and put them in baggies. I don't seal the baggies.

These seeds should have little taproots by tomorrow.

Don't forget to label the dishes!

Update for Day 26...

Day 26-4.JPG

Lambs Breath Day 26 - 28,000 lux - 2"

Second node is slowly growing out and first node now seems interested in growing a cola.

AK-48 Day 26 - 28,000 lux - 6.75"

This girl is really taking off now having grown another 3/4" over night. Those leaves are really showing off the Megacrop with a lovely shade of green. For some reason the leaves on this plant have always pointed downwards. I suppose it could be over-damp but the drench happened several days ago. The new lights should be here by the time she dries out so we'll see what happens. Otherwise she seems robust and healthy.

Enjoy the day, love and peace! :peace:

They look great,Hutch!
Mega Crop does grow some nice plants...it's so easy to use, it feels
like you should be doing more, but there's nothing else to do except
sit back and watch them grow ...

Looking great Hutch! Excited for the new seeds to pop as well.

MegaCrop is fantastic and super easy! I’ve been using it for about 6months now and I’m sticking with it! Strong healthy plants and the easiest dosing...scoop / mix / feed and done.

Hey guys, thanks for dropping by! Couldn't be easier and I'm very pleased with the results.

And now today's update...

Day 27-2.JPG

Lambs Breath Day 27 - 28,000 lux - 2"

Used an old coat hanger to make four clips for tying down branches:

Here's two.

And here's how we used them to replace the green wire...
Day 27-4.png

Nice and even. Also removed a fan leaf that was blocking the light.

AK-48 Day 27 - see the two white hairs?

Rookie mistake...

Yesterday afternoon I was worried about the seeds in the paper towels so I took the plates out of the baggies and left them to dry out a little. Woke up with a start at 3:00am remembering those little seeds. Sure enough the paper towels were completely dry. I reapplied some water and now we're hoping for the best. I've done this before and the seeds survived so who knows?

The two photoperiod seeds we were sprouting in paper towels have cracked and pushed out little taproots.

IMG-2203.JPG

In preparation we used a match to make some holes in the bottom of a transparent solo cup for drainage.
IMG-2204.JPG

These will go inside red solo cups to keep the light out but can be removed to see how the roots are doing.
IMG-2205.JPG

Finally we filled the transparent cup with promix hp and a little bit of water to moisten the soil where the seed will be planted. We made a little hole in the center of each cup, placed the seed in the hole. These did not go in perfectly but we're pretty sure the seeds will find their way to the light.
IMG-2207.JPG

Seed are in the cups. Day 1 should be Thursday, the day after tomorrow. Once they break ground the cups will be put in a corner in the flower tent until the veg tent arrives on Monday!

Plants are looking great,Hutch!..good save on
the germinating seeds-drying out a little doesn't seem to have hurt them at all!

Update for day 29 of the auto grow...

Day 29-2.JPG

Lambs Breath Day 29 - 28,000 lux - 3"

I have given up on the possibility of chopping this plant before December 10th. This LST is causing her to grow very slowly. Hopefully the new light (which should arrive this afternoon) will kick start some vegetation.

AK-48 Day 29 - 33,000 lux - 8.5"

This young lady is now unambiguously in pre-flower! Let me zoom in a little...

Two photoperiod seeds are in those solo cups in the corner. Maybe sprout tomorrow?

Your plants look nice and healthy Hutch, congrats on that.
I did the same thing you did with forgetting about a seed in a paper towel, but mine didn't make it, glad yours did.

Today's update...

First of all the Budget LED 120w light arrived! It was ready to hang, thank goodness, so we put it in and turned it up to about 80%.
IMG-2220.JPG

Meanwell driver is the ELG series and the dimmer switch is attached to the top of the light making it easy to adjust. I should also note that brokerage etc. from UPS added another CAD$86 to the cost putting it just over $300 Canadian delivered.

Day 30-3.JPG

Lambs Breath Day 30 - 17,800 lux - 24" from light - 3" tall

New lights were on for 6hrs last night and 5hrs this morning. They seem very bright but so far no detectable bleaching. The light meter readings are not comparable to the old light so I'll just put them here for my own use.

Update on photoperiods...

Both seeds broke the surface overnight.
Day 01.JPG

Phantom Cookies Domina - Day 1 - 9,200 lux

Day 001.JPG

Chocolate Haze - Day 1 - 9,200 lux

Both plants will be kept in the corner of the flower tent until the veg tent arrives next week. Top inch or so of the soil was pre-moistened with tap water. Will not be feeding for several days but I will keep area around the seeds moist so they don't dry out. goal is to fill the solo cups with roots before up-potting. Do not plan to flip until mid-December.

Hi folks, here's today's update...

Day 31-2.JPG

Lambs Breath Day 31 - 20,800 lux - 18" from light - 3" tall

Not sure why this Lambs Breath is not taking off. The main stem grew maybe a quarter of an inch over the last few days and the nodes behind (below) it are sprouting, but slowly. It will probably be a nice plant some day but it is way behind schedule. Raised the pot a couple of inches which increased "what my light meter calls lux" by 2,000 and I fed her 2 liters of water with 5gm/gn of Megacrop.

One mistake I made with this plant was giving her the drench too early. Most of the pot was still inaccessible to the roots so it didn't need that much water. All this is to say the pot was still a little damp so I just watered around the plant. Hopefully she will get a boost from the Megacrop.

Day 31-5.JPG

AK-48 Day 31 - 21,000 lux - 19" from light - 9.75" tall

This AK-48 is growing perfectly, lovely green and no deficiencies. Strange that her leaves have never pointed up (except for that one fan leaf) but I guess that's just her. Pre-flowers are still developing and I think we may be able to declare flowering Day 1in just a day or two. This is just about right for an autoflower. Fed her 1 gallon of water with 5gm/gn Megacrop (I almost typed it Magacrop, ugh!). This was not to run-off.

I'm wondering, do you folks who use Megacrop always water to run-off? And do you feed with every watering?

Day 002.JPG
Day 002.JPG

Both photoperiods have started to develop their first node. Gave them a touch of water as the surface was dry and moved them around to catch some more light, now at 12,200 lux. I would like to keep them from stretching too much so I'll have to experiment a bit to find the right amount of light to keep the nodes tight. Also, the seed shell has clamped on to the stem of the PCD, have not seen that before.

Here's the tent:

That's all folks!

Yes,and yes!
Everything's looking good,Hutch! I think the Lambs Breath will take off any day now, especially under that Sweet new light...and the MegaCrop will give her a little kick in the butt to get her moving!
