Yo guys hope all is well and everyone is ready for crimbo!!
Thought I would leave my review on a product called Dr Shimmels Thrip Terminator.. if you read a couple pages back you will see my post regarding a Thrip infestation I picked up off some clones i was given!! (A lesson in its self- b careful wen receiving things from other peoples grows rooms as they may not b as thourough as you regarding hygiene)
Although thrips are not as major as other pests it was something I was obviously keen to rid!
After doin my research I choose to treat with Dr Shimmels as it was something I could easily get in the uk and more so I was sold by the "3 key ingredients" (obviously secret to prevent others copying)
The basic jist of these ingredients being..
1 kill any active larvae
2 kill ALL eggs (other brands don't do this so a second application is required days later to kill any hatchlings missed 1st time)
3 aid in plant health to fight the stress caused from having the thrips in the first place.
I made up a mix of 8ml Terminator to 1ltr water (recommended dose is 25ml to 3l but I wasnt treating a lot of girls so held some back for future grows)
I waiting for lights to just go out then I saturated the plants using spray bottle ensuring to hit every leaf and stem inc undersides..
NOTE. Very strong stuff so skin, clothes and breathing protection is a MUST!!!
Woke the next day to not a single Thrip and plants looking great too.. no noticeable improvement on plants but defo no effects from being saturated in such strong smelling chemical!
One day is nothing so I'm now at Day 3 and after a heavy defoliation of leaves (getting plants ready for flower room) I had the chance to do a real in depth inspection and it's safe to say that the fuckers are gone
Dr Shimmels will stay active in the plants for upto 45 days so although it can b used in flower its recommended to not use if less than 45 days remain as it'll b hard to flush out.
Bonus of having it stored in the plant for veg and early flower is that if u were to get a repeat infestation as soon as they start to feed on leaves there instantly killed by the remaining chemicals
A little off topic but I thought It may b useful to someone experiencing the same and a bit more useful info to go with rest cult has already got going..
