Homer's Legal 4-Plant Max Perpetual Minimalist Garden In Ontario

I’m at about 3.5 grams per gallon now but I have to go easy on the sativas. The hybrids are happy so alls good.
Hmmm... Is that 3.5g / gal in flower? If so that is really low.

With all my dickering around with my light meter, I figured out that I am running my plants with about 1/8 the intensity of outdoor sunlight. According to that video with that Dr. Weed dude industry runs them at half to three quarters the intensity of outdoor's.

I have been running my plants around 190 to 200 W which I figure is about 1/8 so I was thinking it would be nice to get my plants at about one-quarter outdoor direct sunlight intensity which would still be half of apparently what industry uses so using my light meter I calculated that to be at 2 feet about 287 W. So I started slowly turning my light intensity up going to 220 W a few days ago.

I was pretty surprised to find that even at 220 W I have what I am pretty certain is light burn on some of my upper leaves. I don't understand why my plants can't take more than 1/8 the intensity of outdoors when industry runs between one half and three quarters but that's the reality so I gave it a try but from now on I think I will keep my lights around the 200 W mark.

I don't know how there can be an industry standard unless there is an industry standard light. Every light out there produces different PPFD at different distances and different points under the light.

If you're getting light burn it's your lights with your plants at your distance. No two grow ops will ever been the same.

Excellent rebuild on the basement!
The industry standard is calibrated with an industry-standard light, the Sun. According to that video, he was saying that the industry standard would be a PPFD approximately 50% to a very max of 75% of direct sunlight. And that PPFD with an artificial light would be measured at the canopy.

Thanks about the rebuild; I'm really liking it so far but just as important I think the plants are too. :Namaste:

I never had much of an issue with light intensity. It was the heat that I had problems with.
I hear LEDs are notorious for burning so maybe that's the issue. All I know is my plants seem happy at around 200 W at 2 feet so despite the fact that is one-quarter of what is recommended it works so that's what I will give them.

Yep listen to the plant.
Wow! I thought I was pretty low at 5.0 g per gallon one month into flower. I am definitely getting better at listening to the plant; I am not a plant whisperer yet but I am improving.

I am certain it isn't a heat problem since I don't use tents.

My Chemdawg had some pretty impressive growth since her tap root first started yesterday. Thankfully she looks like she is off to a good start. I put her in soil today and hopefully she pops up soon. Really happy to see her healthy.

He also recommend the same EC from birth to harvest, so there's that ;).

I had forgotten he had said that but I'm not sure how it's pertinent to the point. But it is a good point which I guess means since plants get more hours per day in veg they would need less intensity in veg to get the same EC as in flower I would think?

Off to a good start anyway
Yes, fingers crossed. I have learned the Grim Reaper can strike at any time but now that she has gotten to this point and looking vigorous her chances are greatly improved.

I usually go with 300-400 ppfd in veg and ramp up to 1000 ppfd in flower.
That's interesting to hear because although my ratio isn't as extreme I also have less light in veg. I have been using a blurple that draws 160 W in veg to my Mega Light at about 200 W in bloom that I wouldn't be surprised is more efficient also.

I had a Quantum meter to test out my lights. Veg plants don’t need maximum light levels.
Oh cool. I checked out the Dr.'s in the vid and his meters were over $1000 so I won't be going down that route although I would like to, lol.
