Help with 4 X 4 Grow area setup. Pics at bottom

Sorry to hear about your moving problems, I've been there, what a pain in the ass! Good luck with whichever way you go. But stick around, even if you're not growing this can be a great place to hang out.

Regardless I am going to grow. Just going with instincts because the electrical wiring in the apt is messed up two I have notice some weak lights switches. One has even sparked on me and blew a circuit so I am second guessing trying to set up my grow. I know it will be at least 6months regardless because if he goes the legal way many people are saying it buys you time. When I have the down time @ work and home I will be here you can believe that. Already have it book marked. :ganjamon:

Well im out of here by August hopefully. So hopefully my grow shall start in august. Any how I am about to make my last run for buying equipment for my grow. I am thinking about buying a tent for vegging but will come back to that later. I am going to HTG supply on Thursday hopefully And I want to see if anyone has some input on what i should get from there? The things left on my list are 2-3 Hygrometers, 6in Inline fan, 12 pack 42W feit daylight bulbs from Homedepot, Ph meter with cal fluids and ph up/down, microscope prob a 30X so i can lok at my trichs :) AND FINALLY Seeds. The inline fan i have been looking at either amazon or i seen one on a hydro store site forget which one. I honestly might have a buddy order the inline fan, microscope and ph meter from ne hydro. But I am obviously indecesive. Any suggestions? I was thinking to order everything perhaps even the bulbs from amazon so it will all come at once but to be descreet order from seperate places. Anyhow any feed back will be appreciated before i go shopping (again) on thursday.

Just a quick comment about the scope, 30x isn't enough, you need to get up to 200x to really see the trichs. The other day in the Deep Water Culture thread I posted a link to Amazon for a 400x USB scope, this thing really kicks butt!

Your the Man FPF, I am going to go check it out right now. Hope its not a arm and a leg. Quick question for you though, have you ever ordered seeds online? Or do you just stick to the clones and local stuff you can get?

I'm just doing clones right now, but I'm going to start some seeds soon to get new strains. But I'm very happy with what I've got now so I'll see when I go to the seeds.

The 200x scope is about $12, darn cheap. The 400x is $55, which may be out of your range. The 200 is more than adequate, the 400 is killer of you can afford it.

One of you Deep Water Culture said 200X would be over kill so i can imagine the 400X would be as well. I was considering this White Illuminated Lighted 160X-200X Microscope Magnifier [E27302] : BestOfferBuy.com, Buy DVD, Shop for PC accessories, Discount MP3 Players, Bargain Deal for Surveillance Equipment, Cheap R4 for NDS, X-sim Unlock

I saw where Alien8 said not to buy the 400. She's never seen the 400 in use, I have. I wasn't going to get into an argument, but she's wrong, I've got the 60x - 200x and it works okay, the 400 is killer. I wish people would stick to commenting on things they've actually seen. Do what you want, it's no skin off my back one way or the other.

Lol cool and yea your like the only person who has been helping me make decisions so yea I trust your word rather than any one else. I will prob just hold off on a scope until I actually start growing just to hope prices come down a bit and maybe something new might come up. Also I just bought a Can air Hi Flow 6' inline fan, two 6' inch inline duct fans that i will use one for intake other for out take for cooling my light, a round air stone, some ozium, dry net, fan controller and 3 hygrometers yesterday. I plan on buying some Daylight CFL A hanna PH/PPM combo waterproof meter (the black one one amazon for 140) and the calibration powder packages and then last but not least my seeds and I am FINALLY DONE SHOPPING. Just need to find a good place to live and get my setup going. Might buy one of these POWERBOX® INC. POWER TO GROW Prob the cheaper one since I am not sure about the electrical setup. Other than that I am very close to getting started kind of amped :cheer:

Okay, this is the scope most people here have, myself included:

It works pretty good, but it's worth about what you paid for it, about $14. The view is small and it's pretty difficult to move around the object you're trying to view. But it was adequate for me.

So then my buddy comes over and says you've gotta check this out", he had just been to a dispensary that had one of these scopes hooked up to their computer, the image is displayed on the monitor. You sit back and get an eagle's eye view of the object. This is the one I posted in the Deep Water Culture home thread, Mule already ordered one:

It is more expensive and everyone may not want one, but after seeing this in use I just had to have it. Like I said, you've got to see this to believe it, I'm sorry this item was panned by people that have never seen it.

Again, get what you like, I just though this was a pretty impressive product, but you won't be needing anything until just before you get to harvest so you've got plenty of time to make that decision.

And yes, I was a little miffed at this and a couple other comments to posts I made yesterday, don't feel like I took it out on you.

As to seeds, I'm in the same boat as you, I don't have access to seeds that you don't so I don't think I could be of much help in that regard. Check with MC or Ghost, or several other people, they all have experience with seeds whereas I don't. My buddy has ordered them before, but we've got what we need for now and won't be ordering any in the near future.

Everything else sounds good. But that meter sounds pretty expensive to me. I am a bit of a cheap bastard, I love all the toys, but whatever I buy I want to make sure I don't over-kill it. I'm doing everything with the pH test strips and a $25 Hanna Primo TDS meter and it has been adequate for the job. Thos big meters are cool and it may be a good tool for you. My pH has been incredibly steady so I'm not worried about that and the minimal TDS meter has shown itself to be all I need. Again, make you choice.

Good luck man, I hope you find that perfect place to live and get your grow going. I have no idea where you live, but if it warms up at all there during the summer you may want to wait until after, dealing with heat can be a bitch, something I'm going through now, The Beast is running at 94 deg right now, way too hot. I'm putting in a fresh air fan today, that should make a big difference. Later!

Haha thanks spike, the world has too much negativity got to spread some good things here and there. Plus as helpful as people are here cant help but show the love. Hopefully I will be growing soon so people can chime in on what i should do and how to make it better. Always room for improvement. When the time is right i will be donating to the site its only right.

Ok so I just emailed Attitude in regards to sending them an international money order from USPS and to make sure they will accept that. So hopefully I will hear from them soon I plan on ordering at least 5 packs of their 5pack seeds in which they send free ones with those so I will grow the free ones first just to get some exp. Hopefully they will give me the green light and I will send out an order by Monday the latest. Then it on to ordering my Ph meter and a few other items I need to get.:yahoo::cheer:;)

So Attitud3 will accept that form of payment. Will be ordering my seeds no later then the end of next week :) Does anyone think it is worth it for me to pick up come more nutes such as voodoo juice, B52 and carboload? I FINALLY got my License so i should have a car soon been saving up for one so I can get my own sh!t without relying on anyone. But I made out my feeding reference chart based on Advanced nutrients feeding calc. Made a spreadsheet from it so when i get into growing I know what measures to use. GMB g=grow m=micro b=bloom and big bud are the nutes i already have. I will most likely start off in a tub of four plants. Will Germ them put them in rockwool ph 5.5 and sit them under light. From my understanding I should root them for three weeks. Do I use any nutes in the rooting stage? After they are rooted I will put them in my net pots in the 18 gal res i have. Then Veg them for four weeks. I have a 600W MH for veg and going to get a T5 or T8 for mother and clones but that is later down the road. I will get CFL's 105W for the mean time and use them for side lighting. Just not too sure about rooting them after the tap root comes out. Anyhow any input is appreciated. Not sure if i am going to do my first grow all the way through in the 18gal res or use two 5 gal buckets. using 5gal buckets would be cheaper nute wise in the long run.

Per one week res change

4 week veg in 18gal res filling to 17gal needs 1 cup and 1 tbsp of each grow, micro, bloom for a total of 35 floz; 8week flower 1cup 1tbsp 70 fl ox total means i need 105fl oz total for a grow using them nutes. Big bud 1/2 cup 1 tsp weeks 2-6 total 22fl oz

4 week veg using 5 gal bucket filling to 4 gal I will need 1/4 cup each res change total 8 fl ox of each; 8 week flower 12 fl oz total needed each nute 1/4 cup each res change big bud 6fl oz needed 1/8 cup weeks 2-6.

Would be better if i could attach the spreadsheet I made because typing it out does not help you get a better picture. Obviously I will not use these exact numbers, AN calc only shows one week of flush using the Grow micro bloom until harvest. I think I am not going to use any nutes at all the last two weeks, anyone agree this is right? So I will save a little nutes if i go that route as well. I think int he long run the 5gal bucket is best to flower with because I will use less nutes. The tub I am thinking I should just veg with. I am open to suggestions of course which is why I am here.

Just posted this @ the BH home thread but since i still have this thread and I am not growing yet i still need a few things before i get up and running.

Ok So I am making my final purchases within the next two weeks before I get things up and running. Can anyone Recommend a GOOD PH, TDS and PPm Meter? They can be different of course not all in one. I have been looking @ the Hanna combo meter but its expensive. Looking to spend about 200Max on these meters with calibration fluids included. I could do 250 but that is max. ANY help is appreciated. Would like the meters to be durable for about 3-5 grows at least would be awesome. :) :thanks:

Hey thanks for the link Opus. I am going to be using 3-4 5 gal buckets so i think i might need two different meters. Not sold on anything quite yet got about 2 more weeks to decide.

even soon u can pick up each meter on ebay for 20 bucks for good ones so still end up spending 60 to 80 with shipping

i dont know if this will help but heres how my room is set up its 4x3 &8' tall i use 600w. hps & 2- 4'' duct fans 1 pulls cool air from under house the other pulls air through the light & exits out the ceiling it one corner i have an occilating tower fan to move things around i have used this set-up for 3 grows now, we had a 107 degree day & inside room only got 92 degrees most summer days where i live [cen-cal] are in the 90's & my growroom temps are manageable without a.c. for the most part
