At this point all she's doing is trying to produce resin so that some pollen might stick, one of the reasons that your bottom fan leaves turn yellow when a plant is close to maturity is that the plant itself stops feeding them and lets them die so it can produce more resin. Any sick sugar leaf that isn't capable of doing it's job is actually sucking energy away from resin production, be conservative but clip the worst ones.Thanks for the advise. I think I will let Jane do her thing as she was less affected than Mary. I did remove a lot of crispy leaves off Mary but left all the leaves surrounding the bud. You are saying it is ok to remove those also? In a week or so I plan on doing a full flush. Will the plant not need nutrients from these leaves for last week or so of bud growth?
