Heirloom's A Little Bit Of Everything - 2016 Journal

It greened up my morning quite nicely thank you. Big hug for that.:hug::hug::hug::hug:

That Tangie is stunning. Hell, they're all stunning. You feeding them magic juice or something?

Not a cicada? I'm on phone so hard to tell.. Looks like a yabbie in one photo on here...

It could be..

It looks like it may be a HUGE "Common Pillbug" which hang out around wood piles. Here's some info and the website is worth bookmarking if you're in North America. It's great for bug identification, although, yours was a tough one and may NOT be a pillbug. It's just the closest one I could find:

Common Pillbug - Bug Scientific Name, Classification, Taxonomy, North American Reach and Size

Color looks right, but segmentation and legs look wrong. To me it looks built more like a cicada or similar.

Dang cicadas wrecked havoc on the fruit trees last year. It was our 11 year hatch. The year I moved here and planted a bunch of trees. Suh-weet.

Whoa! That'll keep you humble in the face of Mother Nature. Did most of the trees survive? Unlike cannabis, abuse to a tree can be more devastating.

I think it was cicada. The one this morning I saw the huge wings on it. It was not a pill bug for sure.

Is there something I can do to draw these away from the garden

Seems like you need to grow a lawn to get rid of them! :thedoubletake:

How Can I Get Rid of Cicadas?

How can I get rid of cicadas? I have a huge cicada killer problem. These hornets have invaded my yard, so the only thing I can think to do is get rid of the food source. They are out of control. For the past three years they come back to my yard, I have well over 100 every year!
Unfortunately, getting rid of cicadas is nearly impossible. Cicadas have a very long lifespan, up to 17 years. The nymphs that hatch from cicada eggs fall from the trees where they have been laid and burrow into the soil. There they live on the sap from tree roots until they are ready to emerge 13 to 17 years later. So, the cicadas are not immigrating to your yard, but are there already, under ground, just waiting for Mother Nature’s signal to emerge and start the cycle all over again.
The cicada killer wasps that prey on cicadas look scary but aren’t interested in harassing or stinging you. The males can’t sting and the females are so busy looking for cicadas that they won’t even know you are there. Here is a good report on cicada killer wasps. As long as the cicadas are hatching there will be cicada killer wasps. However, to control them, here is a tip from the University of Georgia article: “The best control is prevention. Because cicada killers nest in open areas without vegetation, healthy turf won't be attacked. The best way to prevent having cicada killers around is to cultivate a lush healthy lawn without bare patches.”

Here is a Blue Dream. This is an original seed plant, not a clone like all the others. So until it's budded out and judged, it's BD-P2. P2 for Potential Pheno 2. If it proves the same, then it's clones and seeds will get lumped into P1.

I called over to Clemson university to the agricultural department and from talking with her my problem bug may not be cicada. She says they are only interested on sap from trees so I just sent the pictures over to her for identification. Once she gets back to me I will update yall.

I have 4 acres of green grass and trees and shrubs and flowers and plants. My yard is for sure a wonder of green.

Good Morning Heirloom ,
I have a question for you. You seem the be the resident expert on making medication, I trimmed my plant buds down to a close shave, now what and how do I make medican out of a container of very crystaled trimmings??bamaman:thanks:

Hey Heir! Such nice gals that will make great medicine for you. I love the terps that seem to come only with outdoor plants.

Update on the reversal of Twister. I think I may have been more successful than I anticipated. Didnt get brown pistils for two days so I put them back in the garden. Two days later almost every plant in the big garden has at least some brown pistils not just the little seed plants. OOPS. Still pretty excited even if the main crop is seeded. Made an update so you can see the brown pistils on some of the colas in my thread. Oh lawd.

She got back to me very quickly

The pictures do appear to be cicadas. Part of their life cycle occurs in the soil and they emerge in mid to late summer — that may be why you are seeing them.
They are not the ones creating damage to tomato or eggplant or other plants in a vegetable garden. Hornworms are common on tomatoes and can defoliate a plant quickly. Flea beetles really love eggplant and make pin size holes. I would encourage you to go out and really inspect the plants to see if you can identify what is causing the damage. Once you do, you are welcome to call the Home and Garden Information Center at 888-656-9988 for control recommendations or browse the website at Home & Garden Information Center : Extension : Clemson University : South Carolina.
There are many, many fact sheets for all things gardening related.

Hahahaha....If I'm the resident expert on anything, it's running a completely disorganized grow.

Thank you though.

Congratz on your harvest!

As for making medicine beyond smoke, I encourage you to follow some others who are really into the making of medicine. There are many members who can better guide you in that aspect. Best I can do is make brownies and basic old school tinctures and oil, baby stuff compared to the science being applied by others now. You can even make pills (capsules).

I'm sure someone will chime in here soon to help you. You all know who you are....masters of cannameds. Come guide our Sioux friend on a new path to natural healing.

:high-five:

Here I am Heirloom. :laughtwo:

bamaman, at the bottom of my signature line is a link to my CCO Study Hall. You can find me there at all hours of the day and night. It's the first place I check when I come online. We can talk about what type of medicine you're hoping to produce and I can walk you through some simple methods to reach your goals.

It's easy. You'll laugh at how easy it is.

When you get to the study hall go straight to the last page and leave me a message before you start wandering through the thread. There's so much information there you might get lost. :laughtwo:

Heirloom, don't discount the brownies. Damned effective medicine with an incredible cannabinoid load easily made more bioavailable. If I hadn't discovered BioBomb capsules I'd still be running on BioBomb Brownies.

My landlady asked for a sample today. Lol! I didn't even know they indulged, although I knew they didn't care, as long as you aren't selling out of their building. So now the exclusive club of people who've had my brownies has grown to include two more. Haha!

Thank for helping him Sue.

Nice that your LL is cool. Situations like that always make me uncomfortable. She has leverage. I never give up the upper hand.

Snow on way to work today.. Painting outside :rofl: it doesn't usually snow here, not this far down... That sounds good you getting a break in the weather, for the girls but more importantly, for you... :passitleft: all the best today mate
