I imagine you'll only be using those lights at night for a couple more weeks? You'll have to get in synch with the season soon or the plants won't have time to finish. What are you thinking for a timetable?
Aug 10th at the latest but I'd like opinions.
I think that drops to 14/10 around then.
So maby 3 weeks of veg left.
Semi northern Ontario is my location.
If anyone has an opinion on this topic I'm interested.
Thanks Azi. :ciao:
Hope your doing well this morning.
Talk soon.

Hey bill good morning ladies looking great as always.... Glad to see the new light up and running in your back yard tanning booth ;) lol.

Seriously sweet light tho...I know you'll put it to good use.

Congrats on a new light Bill. It looks fantastic!
Really cool setup my friend :passitleft:
Hey GG thanks. :ciao:
I got it just before the fire and hadn't even opened it until yesterday.
Wow a year already.
I've got 3 weeks tops I figure for veg growth then I'll have to shut it down.
Otherwise I'll be harvesting in December.
Any opinions on when I have to shut it off.
Aug 10th is 14/10 I think.
Pretty much need to start by then if I want to harvest by the end of September beginning of October ish.
What do you think?
Anyone remember when they first saw pistils last summer?
Thanks.

I honestly dont know that question Bill.
Never had the opportunity to grow outside. Think alot of Greenhouse growers do similar grows with additional lighting.
Im sure you're going to do great with your green thumb friend.
Cheers

Hey Hap :ciao: good morning, hope your having a good Monday my friend.
Your approximately same time zone, ndid you grow outside last summer?
Do you remember when pistils first appeared.
I've lost all my note books from all my grows, dam fire.
My memory is shite I need to make sure the light is off so they flower.
Thoughts?

Hey bill I'm doing well this morning we have much needed rain happenin....gonna grab the clear umbrella and go smoke a blunt on the pier after work in about an hour.

But I've only been growing for less than a year and have only been a member for about the same time....so unfortunately I have no idea of passed grows :(

And no again unfortunately the only time I tried out door growing was a few weeks back and the plant keeled over lol so I can't even weigh in.

I think @Melville Hobbes has grown outdoors in Ont. He may be able to help with the timing....

Southern Ontario. The main difference would be hours of light and the rate at which they're changing.
Both would be greater up there right now. You guys are up around 46 to 47N right? I'm at 43N.
I have pistils showing on 2 of my plants and preflowers on another right now.
My experience has been that they start to stretch between now and a week from now, and finish flowering between the last few days of September to mid-October.
The question I have is about the rate of change of the reduction in hours of light. Is it enough to maintain flowering even with a longer day length. We know reduction of the photoperiod can trigger flowering, otherwise plants going from 18/6 to 16/8 wouldn't start to flower.
I guess growers in northern tier states would be good people to ask. Guys just south of the border. Here I'm level with southern Oregon.
I think you probably have a week or two, but the drop in hours of light when you stop using the LEDs might speed things up.

August 1st - 10th sounds about right. I had a plant last year that was flowering by the first of August. I also had one that didn't start until near the end of it which of course meant that it didn't finish. It really just depends on the strain you're growing. If you can light dep to initiate flowering early then you'll save yourself some trouble later. Things get really ugly in the fall... Had a lot of bud rot.

If you can light dep to initiate flowering early then you'll save yourself some trouble later.
If you did that and didn't coordinate with the current dark cycle you could cause the plant to reveg since even though the natural dark hours are getting longer, they're still shorter than a presumed light dep would be at that point. So it might go from 12 hours of dark in a light dep situation to say 9 or 10 which would be a lot less. I think it would screw with the plant. @Jon had a photo he thought was an auto started outside and then brought into a tent in the spring and that experiment was pretty interesting.

Ya, good point. Maybe Bill could light dep to about 14 hours light so they don't stress if it's off by a little bit.
ATM the sun rises at 5:45am and it's sets at 9:05pm. You have maybe a half hour of ambient light on both ends of that.

I'd probably treat it like an indoor grow with max light hours for the next few weeks and then pick a day to end the night lights by counting backwards from expected harvest date.

Kind of rolling the dice there because it depends on the weather in Sept/ Oct which you can't know when making the decision. :hmmmm:

Hi Bill - that lamp looks impressive and it must be 24-30" above canopy
As for your light schedule - dunno, but you'll work it out
You planning on monsters again?
