Grease Monkey 5/22
@cali Seeds Store

Screenshot_20220702-022719_Chrome.jpg

Perlite on the bottom
Sprinkle Bokashi Frass & @DYNOMYCO
Mist to activate

Cover with 1/2" of soil and repeat

Screenshot_20220702-022723_Chrome.jpg

You need to leave a hump in the center

This way when you feed it runs to the
outside edge

Screenshot_20220702-022732_Chrome.jpg

Sprinkle @DYNOMYCO directly on
your roots for best results

Screenshot_20220702-022742_Chrome.jpg

Keep alternating layers until you reach the top

Perlite layers are thinner at the bottom
Getting thicker as they rise in the pot

Screenshot_20220702-022737_Chrome.jpg

Don't forget to mist your ingredients to activate them

Screenshot_20220702-022751_Chrome.jpg

Create a natural drain around the outside of the pot
Fill it with perlite for proper drainage
Water automatically runs to the outside edge
Roots will chase the water to outside of the pot

Fresh perlite for aeration and drainage

You have the BEST tutorials!
Hey Krissi :ciao: glad your enjoying the tutorials.
Till the girls get bigger it's the only thing interesting I can post.
Soil is so slow.
Especially when it's so cold at night.

Morning Boss-man! I hope your pain and mobility issues aren`t impacting your spirits too badly. Wouldnt think less of you if they did, just so you know. Tutorial you say.... bring it!
Good morning RD :ciao: I should pay better attention to my own thread.
Hope you are doing well my friend.
Mobility is always an issue but I do my best to ignore it.
Howie keeps me moving, can't help but playing with him when he wants.
Have a great day and I'll talk to you soon.

I can’t wait for my second ‍run
I have all of your guides saved and im sure my new plants will be happier..
Thank you for being so awesome..
Without your help my plants would have been dead long time ago.. probably eaten by bugs but your great support helped me get trough most issues and I felt much safer once you came around to help, Bill..

Thanks
Thank you so much for the kind words my friend.
But any improvement is because of you.
Take some credit, your doing an amazing job.
Awesome garden. :thumb:
Have a great weekend.

Hey Hap congrats Mucker , nice pic.
I run a ring in the moat on the outside to induce water flow to the edges of the pot.
A little extra perlite on top helps when the soil hardens ( hydrophobic ).
The perlite encourages vigorous root growth inside the pot as well.
I’m going to run a couple pots that I can open and show root structure.
I’ll do it in conjunction with the DYNOMYCO root show.
Air pots and bags with an opening.
It’ll be interesting.
Hope your enjoying your day.

Stay safe

Boss gave me the rest of the day off so I'm great :) thanks for asking..

And thanks I really tried to get a good pic for the contest....glad the mods thought so to ;)

Good morning Howie and Bill....so bill I noticed that your posting at 2 a.m and it's light outside....did you do the tutorials yesterday and post them today or is it really that bright out that early?

And what's the temperature you used to up there? Still cold even end of June start of July? Sounds terrible lol but....but you have all that beautiful nature so if that's the trade of for being so far north than I get it lol.

Any way hope your having a fine morning so far and give Howie a butt scratch for me.

Hey @Bill284 great tutorial in the layering. Do you do the same when they go in their final pot?
Good morning Tim.:ciao:
Yes this method is designed to work from the solo cup right up to the final pot.
Weather it's a bag or a air or plastic pot This method will far out do a regular pot.
I'm going to do a comparison with air pots so I can open them up and see the root structure.
As soon as I have a few hrs ill post it.
Bill284 Method adaptable to any pot.
Have a nice weekend my friend.

Stay safe

Damn @Bill284, now you’re displaying some very advanced journal skills. EXCELLENT TUTORIAL IN PICS!!!! Never seen you go all out on a journal before, this is amazing.
Thank you so much Jon.
I really want to popularize this grow method.
It's so easy to do and can help new growers immensely.
Over watering and root problems will never be an issue.
It'll make anyone into a seasoned grower.
As you can testify it's a terrific way to grow.
And if you use coco and air pots you get growth similar to dwc.
But it's a pot, not a bucket of water so their are major advantages to this.
Most growers are nervous to try dwc.
So this will get them good results without having to learn dwc.
It's a win win situation.
Bill284 Method / air pots fantastic for anyone just starting out.
Hope everything is going well today Jon.
Glad your enjoying the pictorials.
Tell a friend. ;)

Thanks for doing this Bill. It's really giving me great ideas :thumb:
Thanks BK , I'll keep showing as many tips and tricks as I can through out the grow.
I really want everyone to see how simple and effective this grow method is.
Stay tuned to Heaven's Shores for more growing ideas.
Your one stop for growing tips.
I appreciate you dropping by and saying checking everything out.
Talk soon my friend.

Great work Bill :bravo:

Thank you for the dedication and sharing the information.
Good morning Danishoes21 :ciao: hope you are well my friend.
Thanks for the kind words. :thanks:
I'm going to show everything I can think of to help everyone out.
After a few years running 50 girls in a perpetual garden you learn what works and what doesn't.
So if I can show everyone, it should be a tremendous help.
Anyone who is just learning can skim through and pick up some new ideas.
It will help anyone who reads it though, new or seasoned grower.
I'm glad your enjoying it and it's helpful.
Have a great day.

Great tutorial Bill!
Well written and shown in photos!
Thank Rex :ciao: I'm glad you liked it.
Stay tuned for more tips and tricks. ;) hehe
Hope your enjoying your Canada day long weekend.
Don't over do it in the back yard today.
Talk soon.

There is a critical caveat to the BPBP - Bill`s Peanut Buster Parfait - (or BP Squared if you wish) layering method that I`ve just realized, and it`s a biggie I think.
pbf.jpg

Many people have developed a habit of `watering from below`, esp. seedlings, which is quite popular with gardeners with flats of seedlings that they water. I generated this habit from using those 6x6 plastic germination seedling plastics, all grouped onto a 10x20 standard tray.

Watering from below stops the threat of splashing, and dislodging seeds and is really the way to go if using flats for seedlings. However, if you were to cross seedling growing techniques here I think a disaster could be in the offing because basic hydrological mechanics tell us that the capillary action that watering from below depends on cannot overtake hard borders of different mediums, regardless of how well they individually perform this capillary action.

This is counter to my own and most people`s instincts, for it seems that provided each layer is an excellent absorber of liquid that the action should just naturally flow, but it is not the case. This is a basic tenet that all engineers are taught as basic fundamentals. So, layering methods must never count on capillary action as a method of spreading fertigation or irrigation.

Thought I`d tack this on here, and I hope it`s clear what I`m driving at. Cheerio ladies, gentlemen, and Bill. Yo Howie! Sùp dogg...

The pic was lovely, what beach was that? Lake Michigan?
I've got a ton of pic's of everything I've done.
So when I wake up early it gives me time to set them up and do all the labels.
It takes me a few hrs to do each one including taking pic 's.
So no its not daylight at 2:am , I'm not that far north.
Yesterday I was wearing a sweatshirt in the greenhouse, July 1st fek.
When is summer coming.
It got down to just a few degrees c the night before.
So it's really reeking havoc with my growth rate.
Cold plants don't grow well.
But it's getting warm during the day so we will make the best of the situation.
This is my first full summer this far north so I'm learning the changes my self.
As you say it's a trade off.
We are happy as can be with our little slice of heaven.
Howie loves snow as much as swimming in the river, so he is happy.
I'm thinking of exchanging the solar light for a real one to make up for the slow growth.
It's getting Stacey on board that's going to be the issue.
But there is nothing to burn in a greenhouse so hopefully she won't worry.
I'll run it past her today and see what she says.
I've got a Medic grow 1000w Ez-8 that is still in the box.
I won it just before the fire and would like to display it for them.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for stopping by Happy, talk soon.

Good morning RD so nice of you to give us your advice, thanks for taking the time to help us out.
Just to clarify when you say watering from below, do you mean setting the cups in water?
Thanks clarifying.
Hope your having a great weekend. :thumb:

Yeah, that`s what I meant. I know this isn`t how you instruct watering this method, but since we are an experimental lot and like to carry over some methods into the new ones we learn, I thought I`d mention. Esp. because I find it counter-intuitive. Hope that`s clearish m8, and hope you and everyone is having a great Canada Day weekend, whether celebrating or not.

Why not put a few barrels of water in the greenhouse? They'll act like a heat sink, lowering the high temps during the day as they store some of the excess heat, and increasing the low temps at night as that heat is released. Water is one of the best thermal batteries you can use because of its density.
