Heavenly Hybrid 2nd Grow: Blackberry Kush, Coco Grow, LED450

His secret is safe with us. Double H only lets her closest friends read her journal ;).
pjew , glad i didnt include them in the recent " buds and butts" comp now , he would have been gutted !!

Haha, you guys got me laughing so good to start out my day!!:rofl::love: Lol, no handbags and shoes for this Hybrid @Ganjagrandaddy, I’m more of a tent and seeds kinda girl!;)
It was surprisingly easy. I think it helps a lot that he just got to fly out to a playoff game with his brother (bucket list for him). He also said he believes in me, so I’ll just wipe a little tear away and get started! Lol, now I have to put my money where my mouth is and fill that tent. Lucky for me, I have you all with me to back me up!

Now that I got my packet of seeds:yahoo: I’m thinking I want to do an all auto run in the new big tent and really stock the shelves a bit.
To recap a little - I currently have 1 photo blackberry kush, 2 mystery autos, and two mystery seedlings that could be photos or autos. Aside from the seedlings, they’re all 38 days from sprout, and 10 days from first pistils. Of course I want to pop those auto seeds now, but I’m trying not to get the cart before the horse. If the big tent is an all auto show, I can move the two surprise autos out and whatever ends up popping out on the mystery seeds. How many autos can I cram into a 4x4 tent, (2 stunted)?

autos cafuddle me. i tried the pinapple from barneys and jist got a 2 inch bud at low level and a weird top 3 inch leaf stack. whole ant was mearly 1m and had huge leaves but no buds. photos all the way for me.
easily pleased Mr hb. should have pushed for a bud trimmer too. lol

to get a yes to the new tent! :slide:
Good job HH! With men it's all about asking at the right time.
During the Superbowl, or just before you take him out to dinner, or after you bring him breakfast in bed. I'm not saying that's what women do, but if you really need something, odds are you're gonna get it during those times. Something to keep in the back of your head ;)

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: @MrSauga @InTheShed lmao!!
Very good advice guys, I appreciate it! I must admit, I’m very lucky and it’s not too often I have to bust out the trade secrets. It helps considerably, that he likes weed as much as I do. :)
If I can have a semi-braggy moment; my Mango Kush is just past the 2-month cure mark, and I was just reading that ~2 months is when curing really improves potency, etc. Over the last week or two Mr. Hybrid has randomly been complimenting it more and more. It’s just really cool that he likes it, he’s not a tough customer by any means, but he does know weed. It means a lot to me. For myself, I’ve been smoking it every day as my daytime smoke and I’d say it’s stronger and lasts longer than ever before. The surprising thing is that I’m not sick of it yet! I’m a little bummed we’re going to be running out in a little while. :D Okay, braggy moment over.

Major update: Use of TDS meter and pH pen
Main 3 plants: Day 36 from sprout (I miscounted earlier today)
Day 10 since surprise pistils (x2)
Seedlings: 4 days from sprout

Well, my tiny brain hurts now, but I was able to figure out how to use my new meter and pen. PH pen calibrated (with pH mixes saved) and TDS meter says it was already calibrated. I’ll check on it’s accuracy another day. First I LOVE the pH pen. I was previously using drops, which was ok in soil because the color map showed differences at 6.0, 6.5 and 7.0. Since I switched to coco, the drops have become not so great, because they only show 5.0 and 6.0.
I pHed plain water to ~5.3 and measured tds at 80ppm and began testing each plant’s runoff. Each plant started in the 310-377ppm range with their first tds measurements, and pH around 6.6-6.7. Close, but definitely needs lowering. I flushed each one and re-measured at each flooding. To keep the story a little shorter, I brought each one down to ~170pp
and then watered with nutes. They ended with at a final ~200-250ppm runoff for the end of the day. I don’t know where they should actually be landing, @InTheShed? I look forward to your wise master input. :adore:
I was kinda pooped after flushing all three girls, and the kids’ nap time (aka my work time) was over. I’ll be more precise at the next feeding, and I’ll also have a better idea of what I should be doing by then. :) I also flushed the seedlings with the pHed water, but no nutes for them yet.

Pics:
I now call this one “tall auto”

I have some tomato wires gently/loosely spreading each stem out, really just to create space for whatever buddage comes. The two bud sites were so close to each other at the top, I felt like they needed some room.

I’m now calling this one “short auto”

Ugh, I don’t even like showing her picture, so abused (guess who was at 377ppm), so small and sad. Silver lining is I’m learning a lot right now.

I also have some tomato wire on this one, on the lower stems to gently pull them away from the stalk. I wrapped a piece around the topped stump, just to spread the top nodes apart a tiny bit. (sigh) I’m feeling so pessimistic about her.

And my true blackberry kush (I think?) had a little quadline training today. I removed a total of 4 fan leaves (1 per branch,) from the top side, at the outer end of each arm, which uncovered the middle nodes of each branch, for some direct light.

I’m pretty excited moving forward, to have these more precise measuring tools. I’m kind of surprised these girls are all alive, now that I’m discovering the depths of difficulty they’ve faced so far. Here’s to hoping things drastically improve from here on!! :D

I pHed plain water to ~5.3
Coco should be pH'd around 5.8-6.0, so you should aim higher next time.
I don’t know where they should actually be landing, @InTheShed? I look forward to your wise master input.
Given that coco is basically hydro, your runoff (assuming you water to runoff every time...and you should) should be close to the same as what you're feeding. Each time you feed your plants you are replacing the existing moisture in there with new fresh moisture.
and then watered with nutes.
Excellent! The last water after a flush should always have nutes in it :thumb:.

I think you can safely be in the 400-500 PPM range for the photo, and if you want to treat the autos like flowering autos, you can get those into the 600-700 range.

Oh, and I like the doodles!

Great, thank you Shed! I’ll make those adjustments for next time. 5.8-6.0, that’s a narrow window! I thought it was better to let it fluctuate up and down a bit more because different nutrients are taken up at different pHs?

Haha, it took me way too long to figure out what doodles you were talking about! :D Nothin gets by you Shed. ;) Lol, I don’t have a proper, doodle-free notebook left in this house.

It does seem narrow, but if you look at this chart you can see why it's a good target:

It's tough to hit a target in hydro where the pH is shifting, but when we're watering with mixed nutes it's much easier to get it spot on. That doesn't mean that 5.5 is crazy low or 6.5 is crazy high, but if you can get it in the sweet spot, so much the better. 5.3 is definitely too low though!

I see! Thank you :high-five: I’ll be dialing it in, especially with my new gadgets. How frequently do you calibrate each of those?

some ( as usual) sound advice there Shed. saw the 5.3 ph and then went to emergency quote mode before i saw your responses , deleted it and enjoyed reading through yours. lol
did quiver a little as autos are an enigma to me at present , wasnt 100% sure as my auto was a washout.
in honesty i was lazy as hell with run off measures in coco. each round of watering should replace the previous one and push nutes out was my logic.
you have been very busy heavenly. all will be worth it in the end and dont worry about showing the used and abused pics , they can be a godsend for others to see that their survival is possible and that they can turn around and produce. i felt a tool with how badly i was doing at rdwc nut kept posting till the pros ( like shed , iceman420 and Islandgrow420 )could not stand to see the victims suffer any longer and rescued them with supporting me. keep up the great work hh .
