Heavenly Hybrid’s Hideout: Jump In Anytime

Lmao!! And gross!!! :laughtwo:

Thank you all so much for the harvest congratulations! I’m riding the ups and downs rollercoaster of growing right now.

I’ll be back to post more in a bit. I’m freaking myself out at the moment, I’m concerned about the inner parts of my critical mass and northern lights buds. They’re kinda harsh to smoke, so I opened them up to make sure there’s no mold or rot. The problem is, I don’t know what I’m looking at/for!! Here’s a few of each until I get more, better pics.

These are the inner parts of broken up buds. I’ll try to get better pics up soon. I’d sure appreciate some opinions, I obviously don’t want to be smoking bad buds!!

Thanks for any help! I am worried, but if its not good, I’ll be using it to make pain oil or something. It won’t go to waste, but I’d rather be able to smoke it!

I'm not sure about those buds- they appear to be a little gray/beige on the inside, but that doesn't necessarily mean bad things are happening... how do they smell up real close? musty at all? traces of ammonia?

I had some bud start to mold after 6 months in the jar, but that was real easy to see- white web(ish) looking stuff covered the buds and it had a faint musty ammonia smell, and had turned mostly gray- had to toss out an ounce or so.

sans fans.

Beautiful harvest on the 1gal heavenly - and a superb mother’s day activity if I ever heard of one!

Your system is working well - small pot sizes are the biggest challenge, even w chelated nutes, and you’ve done beautifully

HH, getting that from a 1g is impressive, and I love it! Great work!

I have too many auto seeds and a small tent (2x2) to grow them in. I can really get through a lot more of those seeds using 1 and 2 gallon pots. You have provided me with a road map. Thanks! :Rasta:

IKR - I grew some DDA in 1 gal pots at 2 seeds to a pot (organic soil) and was stoked to get close to an ounce from each pot. Heavenly looks to have outdone that by quite a bit!

and yeah, I’d say it is an excellent way to get through a bunch of autos - good idea. I have lots as well :hmmmm:

All right, I’m back and attempting to take better pictures. These are in natural sunlight, I’m starting zoomed out and then move inward and around the stem, basically.

I’ll be back in a minute with the next plant in question.

And here are some photos of an opened up Northern Lights bud.

I appreciate the help everyone. If there’s anything I can do to make better pictures for this, let me know. I’m limited to my phone camera paired with a loupe. But I can try my best.

The northern lights look pretty ok to me in those pics - a bit yellow/brown on the stem but only a tiny bit here and there.

The later/last shots of the CM don’t look as bad as the first lot. The first lot and next lot of CM closeups look a suspicious greyish brown to me. Based on the first set of closeups I think they’re suspicious for early signs of rot/botrytis. I’ve had stuff go brown over time (like years) - esp if exposed to light etc. but to happen that quickly is not desirable I don’t think, and the grey-brown colours are very reminiscent of rot. The later pics of it don’t look so bad. SO hard to tel by pictures!

Thing is - I’ve had crops that did this in early cure and wondered the same thing. Held up against the next perfect crop with no suspicious anything, the suspicious ones became topical oil
:Namaste:

It don’t look like bud rot to me
definitley not full blown budrot. I do think some of teh discolouration looks like the early signs of it tho - so early sign on a living plant looks like this

They’re someone else’s circles ;) The browning leaf stem on the right is an early sign of rot - granted that happens when rot is already getting hold inside the stem, but some of HH’s pics have a very similar look and colour on the stems.

I have had this and been told it’s early signs of rot - like a pre-rot change.

In any case, the brown trichs tell me that the THC in there is degrading a lot faster than what you want! Assuming it’s just full-on ‘ambering’, which is what it looks like. Overripe fruit! MAybe it was just harvested way too late. I had similar on my CM from the same breeder and I know I harvested it too late. Maybe it was just really overripe!

Better to err on the side of caution.
I would :thumb:

Those are great pics, but I can't really tell if anything's amiss or not- My Northern Light buds are that same color (dark beige/light brown),but they've been that color since harvest....
I think I'd go with Pennywise and Amy's advice -better safe than sorry....
How much bud is involved? hopefully not the whole jar

Ok - here, Ive been looking for this all morning. In the end I just messaged Sue and asked her to find them for me LOL!. This is what i was remembering and I have seen it on my own buds. It’s not desirable

Early last year, @SweetSue grew a beautiful 7ounce Carnival. brixnewb helped her harvest and spotted what he said were the early signs of rot beginning. These are Sue’s photos of it and I believe it is what we see on HH’s Critical MAss. Maybe a little on the NL. The second pic show it most clearly, at the stem and base of flowers.

Note sue’s comment there. I’ve had this too - once you hold them up next to a totally fine dried and cured nug, the ‘suspicious’ one becomes topical pretty easily!

IIRC this on Sue’s plants didn’t show itself until after drying either.

Thanks for the input everyone! Not what I was hoping to hear, of course. Both plants together are about 3 1/2 oz and a pretty hefty bulk of what I have in the way of thc. But I appreciate the help for sure. Better safe than sorry. I think it was the way I dried them, but I guess we’ll never really know?
Daaaaaaammmmnniitttt!!!!

To be honest, I thought your buds looked fine. Whenever I've had bud rot, I'd see some webbing going on and the stems of the buds would discolor first. I really didn't see any of that in your pics. Just my 2 cents from the pictures you shared.

Thank you all so much! I really do appreciate all of your opinions. Lol, Mr H is 100% tired of hearing me talk/obsess about it. Today I’m going to take apart some other buds that I know are fine, like mango kush and some older banana Kush buds I have, just to try and get a better idea of what the inner part of good buds look like. I know it’s so hard to tell from pictures and I so appreciate you all helping me! I also noticed that different lighting is making a big difference just within my own house, so I’m gonna keep investigating.
:thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks:
