Hello you lovely grow friends of mine. I have a tiny bummer of an update today, last night I went to check on the 4x4 plants (10 mins before lights out!) and I noticed some funny looking leaves on one of critical purple kush’s colas. Bud rot....
I kept looking for more and found another cola with it too.
The arrows point to the leaves that alerted me to the problem. I didn’t think to take a picture before I cut it away. They looked very out of place though. Wirey and shriveled in a way that was different from the way I am used to seeing leaves die off. All of the surrounding leaves looked normal too, so those were my clues to follow.
You can see a bit better on this photo, the stem near the top of the cola felt very weak, soft and mushy.
I called on my trusty VG and she said cut her down. She said once it starts, it’s very difficult to stop, so that was all I needed to hear. I worried about it spreading to my other kush ladies too, so cpk out!
I realize this girl wasn’t really ready yet. But the silver linings I’m clinging to are: I think I found the rot pretty dang early because I didn’t find any more during harvest. I also happened to see it just before lights out, I glad it didn’t have another night to get worse! The last time I grew CPK, I harvested her at 59 days after flip, this girl made it an extra two days - 61. I know they’re not the same plant, but I’m hopeful it will be similar to the last, because it was everyone’s favorite to smoke, even though it was harvested on the early side. Here are the photos I took just before harvesting her.
There were more (blurred) photos that showed more areas of clears, so I hope it’ll just balance out and not be too racy for me.

I did a lemon juice and baking soda bud wash, and here she is all finished up at about 1:30am.... zzzzzz
Obviously not how I was hoping this would go, but I’m glad she made it as far as she did. Now I cross my fingers and hope for the best with the dry and smoke; and that none of the other kush girls have problems like this!

We’re two days shy of the 8 week mark (55 days) in the 4x4 kush kingdom. Mostly I’m looking at CPK right now; last time I harvested her at 59 days and all who tried the CPK really enjoyed it. I took a few trich photos of cpk and mango kush, but mango isn’t there yet. Here’s what I saw with cpk.
I did it that way last time and it seemed to turn out fine, but I have nothing else to compare it to either. I’ll be off, doing some reading
