Heavenly Hybrid’s Hideout: Jump In Anytime

Happy New Year, HH & Family!
it’s time to start the next crop. Mr h and I figured out the selection of autos, so stay tuned for a bean drop!
Great way to kick off the new year...easy to remember their start date too!

Happy New Year HH! All the best to you and yours in 2021.
:hugs:

Hey all! I hope everyone is doing well to start out this new year.

I transplanted the candidas and then opened them up with lawn staples and coated wire ties.

That was a few days ago.

I’m a bit concerned because now they look like this...

They just look so unhappy to me and the new growth looks skinny and pale. I’m a bit lost for what to do exactly because I created a lot of variables. A bit rootbound before transplant, too dry before transplant, I changed food to living soil, lights are brighter, and probably more that I’m forgetting right now... I’m going to see how they look tomorrow and I’m planning to try out a new product called recharge to help them rebound. Cross fingers and toes for me please!

As for the next grow, I’m pivoting already. :laughtwo: I was going to sprout some autos, but the timelines for the candidas and when the autos would finish have made me change my mind. Plus my photo selection is much bigger than the autos. So back to photos it is! I’ll be starting those beans in about a couple weeks.

#1 spot in the line up will be mango kush (420). Mr h requested it and I love it too, so that one is a no brainer. I’ll probably even keep a cutting of her going for a few grows too. We really do love it. The rest have been narrowed down to:

• Florida og (dna genetics)
• blood orange sorbet (dna genetics)
• Blackberry Kush (420)
• gelato og (they who must not be named)
• critical purple kush (same as above)
• og kush (dope seeds)
• northern lights (sensi, or dope seeds)

I’ll be choosing one of the dna genetics for sure. I’ve been looking forward to trying out their gear for a while. The rest are up for grabs, so let the recommendations fly! I’ve grown 5 in the 4x4 before, so I’m thinking that would be good again, and I’ll be doing them all in the quad fashion. I’ve been missing the quad and seeing carcass’ beauty made it another no brainer for me.

Well, I guess that’s where we’re at now. Hopefully the candidas rebound soon and that recharge helps them too. Sending you all lots of loves in the new year!

I have no idea how I got so far behind here! :sorry:

A new light!!!
I now have a matching set and even more exciting to me, the veg tent and bloom tent have all the same lights! Now I’m able to move plants over as needed without worrying about adjustment days, etc. Aaaaand, no more color correcting when I post! Yay, that’s a real time saver.
:yahoo: Congrats for all the reasons you stated, and bigger denser flowers too!
candidas +afghani have all been uppotted and are in 3 gal fabric pots.
Noice! And crowded!
Mother Earth living soil concentrate!
Wha? Interesting, and how does it work?
I’m a bit concerned because now they look like this...
:hmmmm:
lights are brighter
That's my first thought.
Florida og
And that's my first choice, because anything goes in Florida!

I think the extra watering with the recharge will help. Looks like the roots aren't 'hooked' up yet. Probably going through a bit of adjustment going from salt based to organic. It takes a few days for the herd to populate and start producing exudates to exchange with the plant.

How many watts you running now? 520? You running full power?

They’re at just above half power so far. Maybe I should turn them back down to help recovery?

Hey again everyone! I peeked in on them this morning and they look less droopy, but still very skinny new growth. Maybe they’re starting to adjust? (I hope!)

Wha? Interesting, and how does it work?
So it’s a living soil concentrate, I mixed it in with my promix for the bottom 1/3 and then just regular promix to fill it up. I still need to read up to be sure, but then you can top dress or tea as needed. It’s very new to me, so I’m not feeling very sure about it. But nebula haze had great success with it in a side by side grow she did in insta.
Sometimes it takes a while for them to get the way we like to see them.
I sure hope you’re right Stone!
I like the sound of the blood orange sorbet to run next!!
Yeeeah! That one caught my eye too. It’s a tough choice.

What kind is teas do they suggest? How far into the supersoil did you plant?
Are they pretty much in plain Pro Mix right now with some food on the bottom? You may want a kelp or EWC tea or something to feed them until they take to the soil.

Sorry, not teas. Top dress is the recommendation I’ve found so far.
How far into the supersoil did you plant?
Bottom 1/3 of the pot, and the roots are touching it directly.

Bottom 1/3 is supersoil and the top 2/3 is regular promix.
You may want a kelp or EWC tea or something to feed them until they take to the soil.
I do have some kelp on hand. Maybe I’ll give that a try after the recharge? I’m worried to do too much at once.

Here’s how they are looking today

They look hungry. It usually takes mine a week after final transplant to look happy. But if all of the existing roots are sitting in ProMix, that means that they (and the plant) are getting no nutrients at all, and nor will the ones that grow sideways into the new un-amended ProMix.

If top dressing will really work (like GeoFlora recommends) then I'd do that immediately. If not I suggest feeding these with MC until harvest, and trying out the new Mother Earth stuff on something grown from seed or clone rather than adult plant.

I've seen grows with the stuff but the mixing seems off.
I thought it was supposed to be 75ss/25 at the bottom 50ss/50 towards the middle and 25ss/75 at the top? Think it was younger plants.
I haven't seen it run mixed like yours.

The roots are touching the amended promix.

I just followed the directions, so beyond that I don’t know. Maybe my ph is off?

I think the top 2/3 of the root ball is hungry too.

You're gonna have to top dress with something or repot with a stronger mix towards the top.

I'll keep looking but do you have easy access to compost or EWC?

We may need to bring some of the more experienced organic growers on. Someone like Bo may have better advice. I don't know many organic growers. I've been running with the salties for too long.

True, the new roots at the bottom may be growing into the new mix, but all the roots that have fed the plant up to this point aren't getting any nutrients (so say 98% of the plant's root structure), nor will the roots extending to the side of the pot into the plain ProMix.

Just my thoughts on it!

I agree with you both, thinking they’re hungry. I’m reading up a bit right now, it looks like I can top dress or make a tea to get some proper food going to the rest of the root ball. There is a decent amount of the concentrate soil around the perimeter and bottom of the roots, but I think we can all agree that it’s looking like it’s not enough.

I’ll keep doing more research and see what to do. Plus give the recharge a chance to possibly help too.
