Haystack's Outdoor Grow

Now that growing weed is legal in Ma., everyone and his uncle is growing. It's not as valuable as it used too be, so maybe that will deter the thieving scumbags !!
It's almost gotten to be like zucchini in OR w/ the homegrows + a commercial glut.

It depends on how they grow. But I have a bunch of 5' stakes and green garden tape. I'll probably just contain them with that.
they're looking great!

Not like that in Ma. yet, but I'm sure in a few yrs. it will be. We're only allowed 6 plants per adult and it must be out of sight of public ways. Also must be enclosed in a fenced in area, with a locked gate. But we got a decent police force here, and I'm hoping for a smooth transition to legalization. Time will tell ? Gonna be a dispensary 1/4 mile from my place. My daughter lives in Co. and she says pot is less than $100 for an oz. I don't see how a dispensary can survive at that rate ?

It's easy to find ozs for well under $100 currently in OR due to the glut. Many dispensaries are not surviving & unfortunately mainly small ones, while market consolidation is rampaging, due to economy of scale. Might be good for consumers, now, but probably not in the long run.

That said, there probably had to be some of shakedown, with almost 200 in Portland: saturated market, with lots of folks growing, too.

California is much like that too, an oz in dispensary can go as little as 65$ while on the underground as low as 50$ for mids, I know of a few people in the underground selling an oz of pretty decent wax for only 200-250$ the market is super saturated but the quality and price is great.

Yet another update.
So it's Monday afternoon and I decided to take a few more pics about an hour ago. It's a cool windy day today, but the sun is out in full force.

It's still kind of early to tell. But I think the mix of Happpy Frog, Kellog Raised Bed Soil and Sunshine 4 Mix is the best I have used in a while. Maybe it's the Peat in the Sunshine 4, I don't know. But it's good at this point.

Woo Hoo. Finally another really really nice day. The temps got up to the high 70's today and the sun was out in full force from sunup to sundown. So far everything seems to be going well considering all the cold, windy and cold days we have had so far.

I backed off of the nutrients a couple weeks ago because I started to get a little nutrient burn. I'll start up with the nutrients again once they start showing signs of needing it. I've used happy frog a lot lately and I've never had a problem with nutrient burn. so I'm thinking the Kellog or Sunshine 4 mix must have a lot of nutrients in them. But no worries, it looks pretty good now.

The other problem I'm having is that one of the UltraViolence plants wanted to go into flower for the last couple weeks. I planted that one outside in the second week of April. Maybe that was a bit too early. It kind of looks like it might be going back into full veg, but it's hard to tell. I'm not too worried about that though. I'm pretty sure it will get back on track now that the days are getting long. The other UltraViolence is growing like crazy. That one went outside with the other three on the 12th of may. But I think that was even a bit too early.

Next year I'm going to try to start a few clones in my tent in early march and just let them veg all the way until the 1st of June. Then I'll plant them in the big pots outside. I've always been an outdoor grower and have always started my grows from clones on the 1st of June. But since I started growing indoors as well last year, I wanted to experiment with starting indoors and finishing outdoors. The 1st of June has always worked well, but I was always disappointed in the size of the plants. Usually they end up in the 5' to 6' size range. That's not bad at all, but I wanted to see if I could get really big plants by starting them in the tents and using really big pots. We'll see how this ends up. But at this point it looks like it will end up really well.

All for of them

These are the GG4's. They are doing great.

This is the ultraViolence that is going crazy.

This is the UltraViolence that is starting to flower a little bit. I think I'll wait a couple more weeks next year.

Another update:
So things are going well in the outdoor garden. All four plants are doing great. The sun finally came out after a few hours of cloudy skies, so I figured I would take a few pics!

The only concern I have at this point is that both of the UltraViolence plants are now in flower. Oh well, all I can do for now is to wait and see what happens. I think for next year I will change the way I start the clones indoors. This year I started the UltraViolence close with a 18/6 light cycle. They have been that way for several months before I put them outside. Once I put the first one outside back in April, it started to flower about a month after planting it. I'm thinking that was way too soon. The second one I put out in mid May. Maybe that was a bit too soon as well. So I'm thinking I'll keep them indoors until the first of June next year and keep them on a 16/8 light cycle. Around here our longest days are about 15 hours from sunrise till sunset, plus maybe an extra hour or so at dawn and dusk. So hopefully the 16/8 indoor light cycle will make is so they dont flower until the beginning of august or so.

The GG4's on the other hand are going crazy and don;t show any signs of flowering just yet. I'm pretty sure they will start to flower in the beginning of August like my previous grows have done. Both of the GG4's have surpassed the UltraViolence in height and they are really starting to get wide as well. I have also topped every branch on the GG4's and it's working great. I'm hoping for a big one. Lol.

Another observation I have noticed is the size of them in the different smart pots. I have one GG4 and a Ultraviolence in the tan pots and one of each in the black pots. The tan pots are a lighter color and the material is thinner. The black pots are a heavier material as well as being much darker. The ones in the tan pots are both a lot bigger than the ones in the black pots. So that makes me think that the lighter color and thinner material of the tan pots is letting more air get to the roots? I'm not sure. Do any of you know the difference in smart pots?

Anyway, all is good and I'm pretty happy at this time. Hopefully we will have a good summer without those 100 plus degree days we had last year. So far it's been a lot cooler than last year.

All four of them together. I'll have to space them out a little more in the next few weeks.

The two GG4's growing like crazy.

The two UltraViolence and their little buds.

Those are some bushy beauties, all that topping has really filled them out!

:thumb:

I am trying a 16/8 cycle for my seed starts to avoid flowering, too. The weather isn’t cooperating for me so it’s not clear yet if it will work, makes sense tho. Hope your weather holds out for you and your buds :):)

It seems like the weather has been freakishly odd the last couple years. Last year was so hot it was wreaking havoc on my plants. This year it has been so cold and windy. I actually lost the main top and a big side branch off of one of my Ultraviolence plants. But the good news is that we have a few days of 80 plus degrees of nice sunny weather. I can already see the growth since yesterday!
