That’s a tough one to get quality plants with though. Not a place I’d start at.

Osmocote is something we’ve used outdoors a lot.

You could check out some of the grows with O+ that Tead has done. They do okay, but not that much yield. I’m all about lazy, but for me, it just wouldn’t feel like I had enough control over the nutrients.

The DTW (Drain to Waste) style that hempy is doesn't seem to fit with something like Osmocote. We are pouring a fertilized water solution down with gravity from top to bottom. The solutions action pushes and then pulls as it moves to the bottom reservoir where it then mixes and replenishes. All the excess mix gets pushed out the drain hole and goes bye-bye. Where soil can hold nutrients longer and benefit from a slower release product like the cote.

It's been a while, but I think our boy Tead was experimenting and trying to use the "wicking" action of perlite to help spread the nutrients the Osmocote had. OMG how simple that would be! I'm glad he gave it a go because I would love for it to work well. But in the end I don't think the juice is worth the squeeze.
