GSC LED Redux Cr8grow #8

Absolutely love the old playing cards for some reason I wanna watch Apocalypse Now for the fifty-third or so time.

Look forward to seeing how the girls look a week after topping.

Back to outdoor growing, one of my buddies way back in the day would crawl down deer paths in some really thick brush to find secluded spots, but he always complained about the deer eating his plants in veg.
I love Apocalypse Now fantastic movie.
I like to crank up ride of the valkyries in the helicopter scene and shake the pictures off the wall.
The Horror.

Stay safe

Never leave the boat.

Farmer R., Apocalypse now is one of my favorite movies…I love the smell of terpenes in the morning. I peeked in yesterday and saw no sign of slow down. Deer and rabbits love them some weed plants in veg. Cheers

Day 33, two days from end of Week 5 update. All took well to topping and the last water/nutes. I thought these GSC plants were growing a bit slow upfront, but I looked back at my GSC 420 Comparative Grow #6 and see they are about the same coming to the end of week 5. I will start LST this weekend and will change to foam covered plant wire at the stem and will use the bread tie wrap material to anchor that to the pot rims. I lost a few primary buds during LST the last couple grows because the bread tie wire has sharp flat edges that can easily sever tender new growth like a knife. Always learning, always adapting. I like the new organic soil so far, straight out if the bag with a little soil conditioner and silica/minerals as a top dress at transplant. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers

Day 35, end of week 5…Green Crack 1 week behind. Pots still mid weight, so no water/nutes for at least a couple more days. Temps and RH steady as previously reported; humidity definitely a bit low for veg. LST starts this weekend. GSC 8♠️ is showing a bit of yellowing on the older big fans…nothing concerning, but they look so nice when all healthy. I need to pull a few leaves low for airflow until I can get some stretch going. I’m probably looking at another 2 weeks of veg before flip, plant spread to fill the cabinet will dictate actual timing. Today the plants smell great, not overpowering yet, but noticed it as soon as I cracked cabinet door. Pics are from today. Cheers

Day 36…I was wrong about timing to water/feed. Looked in this morning and saw a little wilt on the GSCs. Pots still had heft yesterday…they must have been up drinking all night. I watered and fed this morning, 2 quarts each until runoff, usual organic veg routine. I did LST on the Green Crack this morning. I reluctantly pulled some of the massive fans low on the GSCs to open them up and have visibility to LST those 3 tomorrow. I raised the light a few inches. All looking good today. Cheers

Day 37…LST started on the 3 @Weed Seeds Express GSCs. Lost a few prime bud sites last couple grows with some hasty LST using wire tie that is sharp on both sides. If not careful the edge can slice tender growth if pulled too tight and plants are growing fast. This time I used rubber coated wire at the stem site bending in S shape, then wire tie to secure to the pot rim. I think it will work well and I can wash and reuse the S hooks. No slow down apparent pulling those original fans yesterday. I know those fans feed the branch above at that node. They can survive a deer or rabbit munch when outdoors. And they are being well fed. No complaints about the Viparspectra XS1000 twins, I like the cooler environment, less stress than my CMH315w. The bud quality and yield compared back to the GSC @420 comparative grow will be the decider. The Green Crack fem is a nice plant, almost trained itself. I have a couple grows of those seeds in my seed box. The GC is a week behind and basically caught up…hard to tell which is GC if you glance at all four. I have another light company asking me to check out their LED…it does sound perfect for my 3x3’ cabinet. Pics after LST earlier today. Cheers

Day 30, basically end of week 4. Temp ranging 66-79F, RH ranging 30-41%. The 3 GSCs went a long time with no water, pots finally light enough today with no sign of drought stress. The roots have gone deep. The Green Crack caught up height-wise. I trimmed a few ugly leaves low on all. Plants are squat with some natural branching. I topped all today and did a deep water/feed. The GSC girls got 2 quarts PH 6.4 each organic nutes, Superthrive, and cal-mag. The Green Crack received the same, but only 1 quart shallow supplemental feed. The pot was a bit heavy low, with transplant and roots a week behind. That’s the same thing I did with the GSCs 1 week after transplant. LST will start next week to spread out about 48 bud sites in my 3x3’ cabinet. I pull plants for water, LST, trim, inspection, so always a puzzle to put 4 back in the cabinet once fully spread out. All are doing well, no sign of pests. I will watch for nute burn…turned up the volume a bit. Pics are from today before and after top and water. Cheers.

Hey cr8grow, hope you don’t mind me pulling up a chair! Very glad to come across your journal! Love the set up, all the girls look happy and healthy, well done sir! Lovin the cards too, haha! So anyways I’m also doing a GSC and have a journal which is in my signature, two plants, Laverne and Shirley, lol. Should you have a moment, check it out, same stage almost too. I am also using that same tied down foam wire, and it’s really good. Have a good night!

Day 39, half way through week 6. I need to get after the LST, but not today. All looking good. I’m surprised the 3 GSC pots are already pretty light, drinking up a storm. The Green Crack is heavy, so will likely skip next water/feed. Smell is ramping right up. Will update in a few days to close out week 6. Will probably veg another full week before flip. Pics from today. Cheers.

Right on man, plants look great! I’m really liking this strain so far, and yes the smell is already ramping up, beautiful smell really! :)

Day 42, end of Week 6 (1-April). Full water/veg nutes yesterday plus a bit of minor LST adjustments. More LST needed and will happen this weekend, these GSCs are so compact and bushy. I will probably pull a few leaves to open things up a little. I do remember some significant stretch after flip on the GSCs. The Green Crack has a nice light green healthy color, but I see a bit of nute burn at the tips…will watch. I also see a bit of something on a few GSC leaves that need some diagnosis, not my strength. My style is push nutes especially after flower nutes regimen starts. Plants usually go a bit ugly at the end but bud yield and quality are typically up to my high standards. Pics from this morning. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers

Well, lake effect snow the last few days and all day today. I planned to LST today but mostly watched wildlife and birds leaning into spring. I checked in tonight and clearly need to continue LST to spread the canopy to the cabinet corners. I see some Mag deficiency on a couple larger leaves. Next water will be PH adjusted water only plus 1 tsp. Epsom salts on any that look needy. Cheers

Day 45, I usually do mid week updates on Tuesdays. Had some help today with water/nutes, a bit busy with work. Organic veg nutes backed off just a bit based on the Green Crack reaction. I’m predicting good things for the late GC girl. I’m sharing a few pics tonight pre-trim and overdue LST. These might go 8 weeks veg, which would be a first for me. Plan tomorrow is to put on some tunes at lunch time (working from home), trim up the bushy GSC beasts and LST out another few inches in diameter. Cheers.

Day 46, mid Week 7 update. Trimmed low and more LST today, will probably slow them down a day or two. Days between watering now down to 3 from 6, then 5, then 4 days. The plants are drinking, but remain bushy. Temps ranging 63 to 79F and humidity 29-52% RH. I will determine if I need to add a little epsom salts to at least one of the GSCs next water/nute cycle. Varying shades of green, but generally looking good and no sign of pests or other issues thus far. Pics from today after LST and trim. Cheers

Looking good, sitting at the same heights and also have the bushy like trait. My bigger one is currently 13” tall and other is 10” tall, which is good for me but I have to veg until beginning of May(the move)! When are you planning on flipping these lovely’s?

I will flip by the end of next week latest. That will be 8 weeks since sprout. LSTd branches should grow upwards in a few days. I see a lot of smaller secondary buds cropping up in the middles, usually nice buds as well. Next water/veg nutes will include a small dose of bat guano to kickstart flower set. The GSCs are so ready to flower with tight alternating nodes. I will continue veg nutes through stretch after flip, about 2 weeks, but will continue to increase guano until change over to organic flower nutes. The pic is

from my 420 GSC comparative grow showing…finally some stretch from these bushy bushes.

Day 48, end of Week 7 update tomorrow. Peeked in after work and was pleased at recovery after trim and LST. I will do a few more LST tweaks over the next week to spread out the bud sites to fill the cabinet. I will stay with veg nutes through stretch, will add guano at half strength until full pistils. Then switch to flower nutes and 2x guano through chop. Pics from tonight. Cheers
