GSC LED Redux Cr8grow #8

Welcome Farmer Reading, I’ve learned a lot from the helpful growers here on 420. Are you starting a journal? Cheers
The community is an excellent resource of amazing folks and growers that openly learn from each other.

Yeah, gonna try to start an outdoor journal from start to finish.

Thanks for letting me tag along.

Day 16, 3 went into 5 gallon pots. I scraped in some organic soil activator and silica into the top 1” and watered 2 quarts each with full strength organic nutes, cal-mag and Superthrive, well water PHd to 6.4. Likely I will up pot one of the last two the end of this week. Pics are from today.

Those look good. The first leaves on the GSC Im currently growing got insainly huge. My wife said they looked Jurassic.
ZZ, I think we may share a birth year. I participated in the 420 Weed Seeds Express GSC comparative grow last year. I learned a lot…my baseline was 9 ozs. Primo cured bud. I’m taking the best of my grow learnings to see if I can beat 9 ozs with LED in my 3’x3’. Pics are from my GSC comparative organic soil grow. Cheers

I wasn’t going to do indoor this year but I found a healthy volunteer —unknown strain—in the outdoor area In November. Dug it up and moved it in. Started a couple GSCs to keep the orphan company. 8 weeks flower today. The orphan is a little closer-probably 2 more weeks. The scouts aren’t as close—Maybe 3 weeks.
How many weeks flower have your GSCs taken? GSC on top

Need to get back to 1977 when all you grew was sativa and we weren’t old enough for jail

I pulled an update from my GSC comparative grow #6 time line.

Day 134 from sprout (19 weeks) harvest update. Chop was at end of week 16, so Veg 7 weeks, Flower 9 weeks, and dry/cure approximately 3 weeks.

1977 I was buying 1/4 pounds of very special Columbian Gold or Red buds for $120 weekly. I would sell 3 ozs to regular patrons and net 1 oz of the best buds weekly free of charge. I was a junior in HIGH scool. We smoked about an ounce a week minimum, so free weed. The DEA focus on eradicating fine Columbian weed was misdirected and fueled the cocaine boom. We could rarely get those Columbian seeds that grew well to actually flower properly in mid Michigan. Cheers. PS..I did get busted in 1979 for Thai seedlings in a window sill. The cops took a 2 quart jar full of Columbian seeds and one back up doobie. Just a hassle and I assume no longer on my record. Cherrs

Id love to try to sprout some of the old seeds. Santa Marta grown bricks!

Conversation tonight here, all weed was fully seeded buds from 1975 Mexican through 1980 Columbian Gold and Red. I confirmed potency and effect was intense and often psychedelic…despite bud energy going to seed production. I welcome a random S1 seed or three from my fem grows. Cheers

Day 21, end of week 3, all healthy and ready to reach, topping and LST soon. The backup Green Crack seedling is surpassing GSC #4 in height, but not vigor. I will go with transplanting the Green Crack girl into the final 5 gallon pot with a deep water and full nutes by Sunday latest. The roots on both seedlings are well developed after 2 weeks and ready to transplant. I am anxious to test drive the Green Crack genetics with one plant in this blended strain grow. I will try to give away the GSC seedling this weekend, but it may go to the outdoor compost pile. No sign of fungus gnats from the new soil, a good sign. Pics are from this morning, all good but still pretty typical.

Day 23, Green Crack seedling transplanted into it’s 5 gallon pot with a deep PH 6.4 water with full organic veg nutes. Little GC is one week behind, but height wise about there. Cards were dealt today to identify all, we often refer to the most memorable phenos months and years later by the number and suit. I like the cooler LED grow temp, ranging consistently 63-77F. RH is 30%, range 27-40%. The GSC girls are all doing well, waiting for a growth spurt before topping once. Planning to pinch all after 5th node. Veg will be as long as needed to gently LST to fill the cabinet with a relatively flat canopy. I like the ability to pull plants out for maintenance at workbench height and also rotate, becomes a puzzle packing them in towards the end. Just vegging over here. Cheers

Day 30, basically end of week 4. Temp ranging 66-79F, RH ranging 30-41%. The 3 GSCs went a long time with no water, pots finally light enough today with no sign of drought stress. The roots have gone deep. The Green Crack caught up height-wise. I trimmed a few ugly leaves low on all. Plants are squat with some natural branching. I topped all today and did a deep water/feed. The GSC girls got 2 quarts PH 6.4 each organic nutes, Superthrive, and cal-mag. The Green Crack received the same, but only 1 quart shallow supplemental feed. The pot was a bit heavy low, with transplant and roots a week behind. That’s the same thing I did with the GSCs 1 week after transplant. LST will start next week to spread out about 48 bud sites in my 3x3’ cabinet. I pull plants for water, LST, trim, inspection, so always a puzzle to put 4 back in the cabinet once fully spread out. All are doing well, no sign of pests. I will watch for nute burn…turned up the volume a bit. Pics are from today before and after top and water. Cheers.

Absolutely love the old playing cards for some reason I wanna watch Apocalypse Now for the fifty-third or so time.

Look forward to seeing how the girls look a week after topping.

Back to outdoor growing, one of my buddies way back in the day would crawl down deer paths in some really thick brush to find secluded spots, but he always complained about the deer eating his plants in veg.
