GrowingGirls' Mystery Seed Growing Adventure Journal - 2010

Lil bit of a mag def. on that one 2nd from the bottom I believe, if you have a hydro store in your region you could snag a little bit of white/black or panda film and drape it over that rack, would close the lights in! Or card board with white paper but that would eventually get wet/nasty, justs ideas.

I'm an easy <15 minute drive from an amazing hydro/brewing shipping warehouse/retail store that often beckons me. :smokin:

I'd actually been thinking about mylar, but I just checked the hydro store's website and realized the B/W poly is much less expensive. I can't afford to pick up a whole roll, but they sell single 10'x10' sheets for $12...one of those would be enough to cover the veg rack and throw some up on the two unwalled sides of the ladies in the bloom room too.

When I did my hydro grows a few years back I basically had a poly room within the room...so I know that working with full rolls of that stuff is a pain in the ass anyway. But now that I think about it, it was a pretty sweet setup, so I might have to bust out the staple gun again when it's time to revamp that room, which will be after the current ladies are done flowering and I can rip out shelves and re-hang the light.

Ya me and a buddy are doing that with his connected garage on his house with a 10x 20 room, whole thing poly with 2000w and ebb n gro. But ya if I had a basement thats what I would do, + keeping your reflectivness will help in the long run wish I had a shop that close, good thought though on just a sheet.

Emergency blanket is like $3 at walmart in the camping section and works decently. Have you been checking your PH levels? Maintaining correct PH can ward off many nutrient problems. If you don't have any I highly recommend buying some cheap test strips at your hydro store. Check the water you feed w/ as well as the runoff. You can definitely be feeding your big girls the full dosage of nutrients, and I would start the giving the little girls a 1/4 dosage once a week or so.

I test my feeding water as well as runoff with a liquid PH test kit (vial/drops) that came with my collection of equipment a few years ago. The soil they were transplanted into was about a 6, but the soil they'd already been in was closer to 6.5.

EDITED for stupidity, sorry.

FIM pics...time will tell if I did it right.

So I was staring at the veggers and got bored last night...since the two little ones that are still in beer cups are pretty much just experiments to me at this point, I decided to tie one down and bend the hell out of the other. For fun.

Also, I thought I'd show you what I use to top/FIM and for cutting clones...if you can pop open a disposable razor without mangling yourself, I recommend it. The flexibility of these is really helpful.

I'm going to be picking your brain about cloning and FIMing with my next grow! ;)

I posted some new pics in my J here. Even got a good money shot on my trichs.

I threw some B/W poly around everyone today...half-ass in the bloom room since it'll have to come down for remodeling the room, but a pretty tight job on the little ones. You can't see it in this pic but they are covered on all sides now. You might also notice that I am now a firm believer in early training...the two in the back corners are tied down already.

Well my FIM results remain to be seen, but my cloning definitely went better than expected. Somewhere in this thread dfw-guy shows how he cloned and I used that as my general guide although I didn't do everything exactly the same. My PH was definitely off when they first when into the soil...maybe if I hadn't screwed that up I'd have all 12 surviving clones and not just 10. Still, 10 of 12 is pretty good for my first try. Hell, some people would consider 10/12 good even for a more experienced grower. When you're ready I would be glad to go through the whole process for you, including tips on what I would have done differently.

I checked out your trich pics...amazing! My camera doesn't have a macro setting so I can't get anything that good. I did pick up a little microscope yesterday, so at least I can see them even if I can't share the beauty. :)

Yay for Poly!, gj GG reps if I can, how are the temps keeping up?

Pretty good. It creeps up to around 83 sometimes but is mostly stuck right about at 80 during the day. Not getting below about 73 at night, though. I still want that bigger drop but it kills me to crank up the AC when I'm sleeping.

It's been pretty hot here the last couple days so I haven't had to turn the thermostat down to some ridiculously low number just to get the plants cooled down while I freeze. One thing that isn't so wonderful about my system is that it depends so much on the weather. Tweaking my thermostat, sometimes more than once daily, is just going to have to be part of how this system works.

I might see what I can do about getting that vent down onto the plants today. It wouldn't stop me from having to mess with stuff every day, but at least I'd be able to turn up the thermostat and save a few bucks.

My ac is on a constant 72, here in the south I have to otherwise it creeps up because of how hot the weather makes the house, looking forward to the winter though :)

Glad to see that things are looking up there GrowingGirls!
Nice job improving their room. You're going to have to charge them a higher room rate (more BUDS!). :)
"That will be one and a half ounces please madam."
