I appear to have it capped at a max of 85F in there now after rearranging lights and the duct fan. This is good enough for today, but I need to get it down more. So I was looking around to see where those two vents are in the basement...as it turns out there is only one, but it would be a straight (but long) shot from there to the bloom room if I wanted to buy some more ducting and go that route.
But, instead I'm going with the solution that has been right under (well, above) my nose this whole time. Since my basement is unfinished and has no ceilings, all over there are exposed ducts running to the main floor vents. Two of those vents go to my kitchen that's right above the bloom room, and one of them has a joint right there in the room where my ladies are suffering. It means I'll have to do with less AC than usual in the kitchen, but that doesn't concern me in the slightest...I really don't need two vents there. It also means I am going to need to keep the AC running more, but that's okay because it's a bill looming in the distance I can pretend doesn't exist instead of an immediate expense that will drain my bank account today.
So, I'll be disassembling a duct joint shortly.
Great find GG! Also, if your feeling real handy, home depot has those fittings where it is a fork but a right angle, T fitting I think they are called that way you can get some kitchen AC too! Soon to be a cool grow room, gj GG

Good tip, thanks! I could definitely manage putting that together. I hadn't even thought about anything past disconnecting it yet. It'll be a good idea to set it up before winter at least...winters here are more brutal than summers and I am going to want both kitchen vents working then.
it does look more like a deficiency of some sort to me than light or heat damage.

look forward to hearing those temps!

Thanks...I'm super stoked about having a properly air cooled grow room now. Can't wait for 9:00am to get here so I can see what the overnight temps look like. I've got my thermostat set at a constant 74 upstairs but it's programmable so if I need to change it based on light times or whatever, I can. Also, I set the HVAC fan setting to "on" rather than "auto", which keeps air flowing through the vents at all times, not just when the AC is running. It's really helping the humidity drop too, so my dehumidifier doesn't have to work as hard.
did you check out that T bracket?
Apparently, people install ducting intending it to be permanent. ;-)
