Growing A Legend: An Auto Tribute To Jack Herer

The funny stories about the Canadian military always seem to revolve around drinking. Many weekends from the 1980s are a blur to me, which is probably just as well.
Yeah... that trip to Thailand definitely had it's fair share of debauchery... and booze. Ol' "Short-Round" turned out to be quite the tour guide. LoL Little shit knew every titty-bar known to man.

I love Seedsman.....They carry a shit ton of strains for a crap ton of breeders. Very professional and handle business the way it should be done as it relates to seeds.
Yeah... I have never had an issue with CKS, just found a huge selection elsewhere. Seedsman & Seed Supreme have done me right many times.

Too bad they closed down the PI before you joined Preston. Some crazy shit used to happen there. Made Thailand look tame!
I got to bounce through there when I was stationed with the SEAL team out in Hawaii. We used to do reenlistments in countries like that so I could get those guys reenlistment bonuses tax free. 100k bonus turns into 70k when done stateside. I just got to tag along because I was the Career Counselor... and I handled the bonuses. LoL

It was pretty tame though... I was older & married with kids when I went there.

Last time I was there was in 91 when Mount Pinatubo erupted. That was a crazy time. The whole island was covered in 3 feet of ash. June or July of 91 if I remember correctly. I just remember it was hot as freaking hell and no one had AC. There was one bar that had a generator and the Marines took that place over. Had a hell of a brawl with some of the ships engineers (some big dudes) and that poor place got half torn apart. We came back the next day and help the guy build it back up. Made it better than it was before!

I am trying to remember....San Miguels were 5 pesos at the time and the exchange rate was about 30 to 1. 6 beers for a buck! Then there was the Bullfrog and the other liquor drinks that were crazy. Man I am glad they didn't have cell phones around back then! Saw a lot of insane shit in my time abroad!

Magsaysay......and Gordon...... Spent a lot of time in the PI....

I bounced around the Asian Pacific from 2004-2008. Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Hong Kong, Guam, Malaysia, all Japan islands. And 6 or 7 tips down to Australia. I didn't make it back over to PI until 2011.

Wish I remembered more from those port calls. Biggest regret I have is spending all that time drinking & chasing ass instead of enjoying the sights... priorities have changed with age...

I always made it a point to limit my power drinking to one night there (usually the last night before leaving port....always much easier to leave land when you are hung over) in whatever country I was in, and the rest of the time was dedicated to getting out and seeing the land.

I hit 31 different countries during my time overseas. Loved the traveling....still do. Always made it a point to try eating local meals as well. Never understood the guys that traveled half way around the world to go to McDonalds. Just mind boggling to me. Don't get me wrong....get one while you are there if you have a hankering.......but hell, get out and try some real Thai food or real chinese food or real japanese food or the real deal sushi.

Remember those seafood markets in thailand where you could buy those prawns that weighed like a pound a piece? Man I made it a point to hit those places and chow down. Thailand was the first place I ate octopus. I had squid before, but never a full on octopus tentacle with the big suction cups and all. I tried all sorts of crazy shit. Monkey, dog, cat, giraffe, zebra, croc, snake, insects.....I even tried that damn duck egg thing that Pinos love. I puked my guts up, but i tried it LOL. Don't try it....its gross.

I have definitely eaten many "mystery meat on-a-stick" overseas after leaving the bar. Didn't do too much other experimenting... except Japan; we were home ported there and I actually lived there long enough to try some cool shit. Tough for me around Asia because I'm not a big seafood guy. Love it, but I'm picky.

Magsaysay......and Gordon...... Spent a lot of time in the PI....
I didn't spend as much time I as would have liked!

Actually I was conceived in the PI. My mom was a DoD school teacher and my old man was stationed at Clark AFB. But they left a couple months later.

I got to go there 3 times total. Deployments stopped hitting there shortly after Mount Pinatubo erupted. They didn't want to renew the lease to us so we said "Ok, no more filipino nationals in the navy without that lease". And just like that....that great adventure closed. I know some of the old timers that were leaving the Corps shortly after I joined, left the USA and moved over to the PI to live like kings off their retirement. Not a bad life at all. Some are still there as far as we know.

No balut for me......I heard how it was made, and couldn't get any further than that.

I tried it! One of the only things I ever regret even trying. Shit is nasty! Nope...never again. That and Tequila are the only things that I have really ever completely 86'd
How about Durian fruit? Stanky stuff there

Hiiiii miss meeee!!

So I came looking for plants and so far two pages back I found Nada! I want some pics fella’s...hopefully I’m not interrupting:)

I thought you might be needing a Dank and Dabbie update as we have been away and things got messed up while I was gone! They were rarely watered and had pretty bad lockout after being away a couple weeks. I’ve brought them back from their attempted murder and recently celebrated a 2 + zip Dank (auto cheese) Harvest at day 81. Dabbie is bigger and will need a few more weeks she is Auto day 85
Enjoy and I’ll head back in for pics! :D

Yeah, no doubt over that way. Where I was the nearest titty bar was three hours away in Edmonton, and some sleazy ones there were. If I related a story there'd probably be repercussions from Admin, so I'll leave it to your experienced military imagination.

Have a good night guys and/or gals. I'll be around tomorrow; I got a day off after a week straight. Go pay a few bills and come back to veg for the day. This is the pay after the guys were down and the vacation days left me a little short, but next one will have overtime on it.

Thank you kindly mr.S and everyone else, I'll go for a nose around their website... The closet I come to seafood is beer battered fish and chips or crumbed calamari but that's bout as adventurous as I go. Went to seafood buffet in Zimbabwe in my teens, tried everything you can imagine ( being violently ill ) next cpl days too.......lol

Have a great day guys.....
