Grow Challenge! All Welcome! Solo Cups & Autos!

Have been thinking all day about what to do with the Jack's

train/not train

Due to the nature of the air-pots, I will be able to get a more developed root-system without the plant getting root-bound as fast as it would in a solo-cup. But I still think the container is a little too small to have much benefits from topping etc. Maybe LST could increase yield a little? But basically the curious part of me wants to see just how well a plant can grow naturally in 0.5 liter of soil. So I won't train them. Instead I want to see how big they can get.

Ohioboy got the training part covered well. He is very good with auto's. So I'll use his and other people's plants in this thread to learn if there is any benefits from training the auto's in such a limited container.

Since I'm growing Jack Herer, I have a feeling those plants can get quite tall even in this tiny container.

I am guessing 80 cm :) What's your guess?
18 inches

Ohioboy, how moist do you keep your Solos?

For the first 4-5 days above ground I treat like a transplant constantly wet watering 3-4x daily. And spaying foliar just plain water. After that period I water once in the am and a trick I learned later on when there growing good month 2 or less maybe I water until the overflow comes out good and I let it sit in its over flow and it ducks it up as it needs it theouout the day. Wvery morning

The Trans Siberian never made it sadly, but the backup Auto Kush I dropped in has made its way above soil so I have 2 up now.

I'm keeping these clear inverted solos on top as a humidity dome until they outgrow it because it's dry here.

Here's the Sour Hound @ 6 days above soil.

And the Auto Kush that popped up today.

Here they are tucked in with their sisters (hopefully!).

Hey all, looking good on the babies .

Dev, did you just cut your air pot and move the little plugs around? I harvested the other day and wouldn't mind trying a modified air pot now that I've got one free. It's nice and wide rather than deep, would make for a nice bonsai style grow I'd imagine, heaps of surface area to play with.

Sorry to hear about the Trans Siberian Shidden! She just didn't germinate?

Re: Grow Challenge! All Welcome! Solo Cups & Autos!

She started to but just got ate up by the soil I guess. I dug around because I was curious and found her helmet cracked open and that's it lol, nothing inside. Wierd. That's the first bean that's never come above soil for me : (

I put the AK in her place and she sprouted just fine, so the Siberian just must've been a weakling.

-yeah - I just cut the bottom half away. Very soft plastic, easy to cut

Hey guys this looks interesting... i started a tangerine auto on the 15 June (without knowing about this comp) the only problem I have is my pot is alot bigger and deeper. I read up autos vrow as long as there tap root will allow. So i when deep narrow pots. Will be interesting to compare yields at the end!!!! Will post some pics later.

Gave mine nutes at half strength today. They were both dried out more than I like. Not even as babies it's enough to water them daily. Will probably start looking for the dripper system that came with my old retired Wilma system. With a timer. Water 2-3 times per day should be good

its going to be a challenge just to take them to the end thats what makes it fun!

Looking great folks.. Blood?! Noice man, that'll be finished by the end of next month! Haha. What's your light / how close?

Sticky, do you think it was light burn or nute burn?

Couple of shots of my ladies from last night. I've started feeding my babies, I've got 1/2 Str nutes made up in a spray bottle and I give them a squirt morning and night.

Hey all, sorry I haven't been around. I thought I should stop in and share my mutant, she's on day 9 now.

When she first popped and got growing, there was only 1 first true leaf popping out, over time it grew one out, but looks really weird.. Then the 2nd set popped out, looked good but then I noticed they had no tips for some reason, very weird! And now, she is starting to grow some good looking true leaves on the 3rd node.. These nodes are super close together to, she's only been under the T5's still and I'm thinking I should start her on the LED panel and some outdoor light. No feeding yet, just that mix of Rapid Start and Armour Si from the beginning and 1 watering yesterday. Next one will be half strength nutes to hopefully get this little baby going!

Here she was on day 3 I believe..

And here she is today..

All the other plants are looking great, different techniques. Keep it up everyone, lets hope all these unfortunate misfits can catch up!

Woah man that is a mutant!!! From the university all over it almost looks genetic, some sort of throwback / mutation.
Whaddup sticky, nice looking girls, hope the good trip makes it through the tough times, those leaves are getting crispy .Northern lights seems to be a stable Auto from most breeders. You NL has real round leaves, looks cool.
