Grow Challenge! All Welcome! Solo Cups & Autos!

indeed. So basically I'll end up with a plant I can smoke in a day :) Cool - Two days of Jack Herer is two fun days

Check out Oldschool64 and his shot glass grow....

I'm not sure who the grower was, but it was on 420Mag, a Green Crack Auto in a timie pot .

if I could achieve half that I'll be stoked!

Both my Malana Bomb & NorthL popped and into the cup they went! Now I just gotta leave em alone for a while, the true challenge!

So the only limit is the 0.5 liter? Any other rules I should know about or can I do wtf I want? I seriously have doubts about my pot modifications. They became ridiculously small. But so is a solo-cup and I guess it's all fair. Never tried to finish a plant in such a small container before so this will be fun.

Looking good with the Mod. Airpots, nice idea. I see your using soil, how often do you think they'll need watering in later life?
I was thinking of airpots as I burnt little holes around the outside of my solo.
JackH should make a nice big Auto, I'm hoping my NL gets pretty tall. Have you heard of the "Light of Jah" strain? I want to get my hands on some, heavy JackH mix I think.
No restrictions bar the .5l medium max.. so you can't then put that .5l container into a 10L DWC or anything .

I fear they will need watering 1-2 maybe even 3 times per day in late flowering. I am only guessing though. Use 0.75 liter mod of airpots for a cloning experiment now. Seems to work well. Use 1 liter for rooted clones from rockwool cloning. They need to be watered quite often in vegg. Every 2 days at least in the beginning. Then once per day as the roots fill the pots

Lots of talent and lots of great ideas popping up in here. This is going to be great. I am also going to have to find that other red cup thread that was mentioned earlier, would be cool to watch the DWC cup!

I have a bit of an update to the beginning of my entry, it's not quite complete yet but will give you most of the idea. Once I get my container finished I will post those pictures as well, for now it's just a picture of the container itself, I am going to drill air holes in the side of it as well.

My White Widow Auto (DinaFem) finally cracked this afternoon, the taproot wasn't quite poking out yet but it was there so I could be sure to plant it the right direction ( taproot facing up ) ..

I then got my peat pellet ready using room temperature RO water and have it sitting in a short humidity tray.

SAM_5061.JPG

Rolled the seed onto my fingers and gently placed it into the middle of the peat pellet, I had to shift it just a little with some garden wire to get the taproot facing up. After that I lightly scratched the surface of the peat moss to cover the hole. I also added some extra water in the tray to help raise humidity once the cover goes on.

I placed the tray, with dome on it, under 4x54W T5 lights. I don't use any seedling heat mats or anything, my room stays fairly warm. There will be no light for this plant until the morning when the timer kicks on in the veg room, it will have 18hours of light per day.

SAM_5065.JPG

After the seedling breaks ground and opens up it's cotyledon leaves, it will be place directly into it's final container before seeing any roots emerge from the peat pellet. This way there is no chance of damaging the roots, I will also peel off the mesh layer that is on the peat pellet, they come off pretty easily.

The pot will be getting some air modifications since it's going to be tight quarters in this container once it gets bigger. I will drill some holes all around the outside about 3/4 the way up the container, likely place them all a couple inches apart if I use something like a 1/4" drill bit. I will try to get this done tonight while back out in the garage.

I figured I would add some details and pictures about my space and equipment as well...
Grow room is in the basement, no subfloor so I keep everything up off the ground one way or another. It is a 10'x12' room that I built, divided it in 2 spaces (10'x6') and then lined the dividing wall with black and white poly with a spot left for a door (poly overlaps and shut with velcro for now).. The auto will be in in veg side obviously and here is what it looks like right now :)
(Picture wasn't color adjusted, forgot to change white balance on the camera for this shot.

And I took some pictures of my Meizhi 1200W LED panel. Has 4 cooling fans in the top, veg and bloom switches are both on for max output! I like this panel, good quality (so far) and decent price.

Ok, so that was quite the update.. I tend to be fairly thorough with my updates and try to get all the details in I can when I have the time. Once I get the container redesigned with it's air pruning holes, I will fill it with 18oz of dampened promix hp and added perlite as I mentioned in my introductory post. When I dampen the mix for the first time, it will have a light feeding of RapidStart for the roots, Armour Si to help combat stress. Base nutrients will come very soon after it develops, I am going to try and push this little freebie auto to the limits!

Ok, I got the container done and figured I'd get it up here now. Got 1/4' holes drilled all the way around (3 rows) about 2/3 the way up. 18oz of medium comes up to just under the lip on the inside so that won't be so bad :) I will take pictures of my medium in a measuring cup that I use in my grow room, it goes up to 16oz reading and I will consider my peat pellet and few course perlite rocks at the bottom the other 2oz. (Guessing the pellets are about 1oz? Will check the packaging and adjust amounts is needed) Then I will dump it into the container and wait for the plant to break surface in the pellet.

Think most people put them in dirt yesterday. I put mine today. We're only a day behind the rest so no stress

So just to be clear they go into the dirt today?

Put them in a glass of water, waited for them to sink. Put them in wet paper for like 8 hours and then put them in the soil. Two Jack Herer Automatik from Advanced seeds. Looking forward to smoking em :) Cool challenge folks. I needed an excuse to pop those seeds. Auto's are really not my thing. This way I can flower them and smoke them and they won't take up much space. Will probably move them around in my different grow-spaces during their life cycle. They begin in the small vegg tent and move on to whichever space has flowering plants as soon as I see some buds starting to form.

What kind of light cycles do you usually give your auto's?

And - Is it better to keep it among photo's under 12/12 and a flowering spectrum than 24/0 under vegg spectrum? What will yield the most? Do they bud without being given the right color light? I know so little about auto's

Bro I've got 3 jack herer autos in my tent now in full flower. Run them full spectrum on 20/4 from sprout. Hit em with full nutes at week two the jacks love there nutes so don't worry. And added blues for veg and reds for flower can never hurt auto or photo

I know you'll rock it. You're the auto-guy :)

Ok all I'm two days behind I'm dropping mine in soil today. I decided to go ahead with the chocolate kush auto I'm gonna use a solo cup and I'm gonna rock this contest so y'all better get your game faces on lol. #global420

Re: Grow Challenge! All Welcome! Solo Cups & Autos!

I have 2 going in the dirt today.

Germination plan : "Shot glass for 20hrs then paper towel for 20hrs"
Medium : Promix HP, worm castings, amendment.
Seeds : Dinafem blue cheese and dinafem white widow xxl
Nutes : DBHBB drenches, teas, and foliars. Minerals, microbes, and magic.

They will be going in a custom 16 oz soft pot fabricated by Canna Montana. We have thought about putting a layer of perlite or some hydroton in the bottom to assist in watering during flower. But I think these will be awesome!
