Grow Challenge! All Welcome! Solo Cups & Autos!

Allright. I'm in. I converted 2x 1l airpot to 0.5L pots. Will plant 2x Jack Herer automatik from Advanced seeds directly in them after soaking it in water for some hours.

I see most people germinated yesterday. I'll just be one day behind. The Jack Herer does however take 70 days to finish from seed

Here's the setup, what do you think?

Will plant them into a soil with no nutes, 25% perlite, 25% vermiculite. I'll add a little dose of beneficial bacteria as soon as they sprout.

I will have to water these daily. That's the minus with so small pots. Maybe even 2 times per day.

Would love to have you on for it DeVille! Has only been 24hrs since most took people took their seeds outta the packet- get em soakin!

So the only limit is the 0.5 liter? Any other rules I should know about or can I do wtf I want? I seriously have doubts about my pot modifications. They became ridiculously small. But so is a solo-cup and I guess it's all fair. Never tried to finish a plant in such a small container before so this will be fun.

Wondering about planting them directly after this soaking or if I should do the wet paper trick for 24 hours. I don't know. I had great success with both methods but I guess the paper towel method speeds things up a little bit

I only soaked yesterday.. hoping for germination any day :)

Re: Grow Challenge! All Welcome! Solo Cups & Autos!

I dropped my beans in RO water at exactly midnight MST last night and they had both sunk to the bottom when I checked at 2pm, so I dropped them in their soil and put them in the veg box under the seedling/clone lights.

ASH - Auto Sour Hound
ATS - Auto Trans Siberian

My drainage design was inspired by the drainage on my 1 gallon pots. A little crooked, but should get the job done.

They will both be growing in DBHBB soil, which is all new to me, so I'll be learning all sorts of things here!

Filled cups with soil almost to the top, 1/4" ish. Dusted with a little roots and dropped the beans in the center, covered to the top of the cup with more soil. Put just a drop of transplant in a liter of RO and barely used any of it just to wet the top soil. Will update when they poke through!
its going to be interesting to watch that sour hound i have one of those i was going to use it this time but i decided to wait until i can give it the full treatment good luck!

I see the original airpot has 6 rows filled with dirt. That probably means I can use 3 rows instead of two. What I will do is to measure up 0.5 liter of soil, then see how well it fits in there to make sure it's all fair and square. Then I'll adjust the pots accordingly.

OK. I did a test. Measured exactly 0.5 liter of soil-mix and tried to fit in the airpot. With two rows I could not fit it all. With 3 rows I could almost fit it all. So 3 rows it is. Almost half a liter. Close enough

So did anyone actually keep a plant in such a tiny container their entire life cycle? I'm seriously wondering "what to expect?"

Any thoughts?

Neikodog had one. I believe he thought it was a photo and it ended up being auto so instead of transplanting he just let it finish. Looked like a nice fat quarter bud if I remember right.

Ive done some 'smaller than suggested', and then some..

depending on medium, you get some root bound plant that gives some kick ass herb.
you need to adjust watering and feeding times; light distance etc.

:)

i think i remember nis doing it and it was impressive!
Started in a 4" pot and transplanted into a 1 gallon when flower started. Didn't know it was an auto since the F3 generation of our breeding project started showing the auto gene. Devils carnival. Dark devil auto x carnival.
