Grow #2: Outdoor/CFL Auto 420 Blueberry & AK-47 Smart Pots With Dr Earth Soil

The one thing I can say is that our LEDs are working very well for our 4x4 space and with it on full spectrum there isn’t that weird color in there. They are also easy on the pocketbook and aren’t hot. I love my LEDs.

What brand and size LEDs are you using Happy? What do they draw from the wall? Are you finding that each one completely covers two plants? You are are running more wattage than I would but I am curious what just one of them might do. And how much they cost of course.

Sorry I missed your journal! You are growing the same Blueberry that Moonshine and I are. I'll sub in there and catch up on it tomorrow.

Thanks!

Depends on how cheapo. The one I got originally is 75 bucks. And runs at 125 watts from the wall

My cheap ones are about the same ($80) now. For that space it'd probably do I'd say. I'd get 2. I want another light for the top middle of my tent and then angle my other two lights down on the sides of the middle light. I'd go for it dude. You're putting the work bro, you may as well reap its full potential. Just my 2cents. Brother man

Thanks to all for your suggestions regarding my LED question, and a special thanks to Rider509 for pulling together a great package of strips and drivers that, while amazing and white, ended up out of my price range. I'm saving his list for if I ever commit to the indoor thing...like if either of my kids moves out and I can take over their rooms ;).

So with apologies G2, I have gone the way of the pink (lights, never pics...have no fear) and purchased the MarsHydro 300, which should be delivered to the house on Saturday. I'll take down the T5s and the CFLs and string up the 300 and give you a color-shifted look at the new setup when I post on Sunday.

How far away should I set the light from the top of the plants to start, given that they are in the December sun 6 hours a day? OMG I'm asking light distance questions...what has become of me!

One more thing, I only see the lights when I turn them off in the morning. They come on at 9pm on their own. I care more about wall watts being less than I'm drawing now and lumens being more than I'm currently getting.
That's what the led will offer for you. All the light directed into 90° focus instead of 360° of the fluorescents. A better efficiency and efficacy. The lumens aren't quite as important. Often we used ppfd ppf and par in place of lumens and luminous flux (lux).

The idea is to find the spectral output graph and locate the ppfd per actual wattage. The larger the ratio the less carbon footprint and the more light per dollar!

Hope this helps a little

Def helps but I think you just missed my post where I bought the Mars 300. You must have missed it or you would have led (;)) with congratulations!
Right.... what I meant to say is.... MOZEL TOV! Haha. Good choice with the mars. I think you will be pleased! It's no sunshine... but a step up from florescent lighting imo!

Congrats on the mars Shed. I believe you going to like it. And Sara is always around to take care of anything you might need. Now get her up and working for ya

That's exactly why I had it sent to the house for Saturday rather than waiting allllllll theeee waaaaaaaaaaay untilllllllllll Monday :).

You have me interested with the LED now. Who knows, I may try to get my hands on one next year.

I will definitely update here on how it's going. It was really cheap too.

I have two vipraspectra 450s. Hubby could tell you what they pull from the wall. That's not my area. It is a 5x5x6 space and they cover really well. I have them on an 18/6 schedule and they have both a veg and bloom setting and then full spectrum. Sorta medicated right now (was able to get some emerald og today). .

Congrats on the Mars. They will definitely grow some nice bud. Here's a Blueberry that I am growing with my Mars. I'm getting ready to start flush on her. She has some very dence buds and alot of frost. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your Mars, I'm sure you will grow some nice plants.✌️
