Grow #2: Outdoor/CFL Auto 420 Blueberry & AK-47 Smart Pots With Dr Earth Soil

I think I finally got it - I think :thumb: (I'm sorry to use your journal for a signature lesson - and then take so long/many to get it) I sure do appreciate the help. Now, one last question (hopefully) about signatures... if I post or comment from the app on my phone, will my signature appear??
Learning has made me feel young again! :cheertwo:
Hey thunder! I'm sure shed wouldn't mind (although I shouldn't speak for em). Remember it's never ever to late to train your plants! In a scrog grow you train through pre flowering, just as an example. If you topped 10 days ago you are right on time for some very beneficial training! Shed has a great method for autos. But if your girl is a photo I would suggest training the 2 branches below the top out latterally. It's simple and can be done with hemp string or coated wire. ( anything that won't cut into the stem). If you poke little holes in the rim of your container simply the a slipknot around new growth as it reaches upward and very gently and slowly train it parallel to the ground.

More tops = more nugs = happier grower

:) hope this helps your lady is looking great

Good to have ya back shed! Have you considered emailing Robert about the seeds flowering so prematurely?

Monday and back from dropping my first born off at college! What a surreal experience. I felt like I was acting in a movie about dropping off your kid at college while I was dropping off my kid at college. So many emotions that I'm just going to stick with plants for a while...

It's day 33 for AK 4 and flowering continues. I'm thinking that maybe I'll toss in a bit of Open Sesame next time I water just for shits and giggles as I have a big jar and don't use that much. Also, LST continues in flower...

And I dropped two more seeds in bowls last night and this morning one of them hadn't done anything, but the other had split the wide way! What's up with that?

Whaaaa?

Sorry gang, been out of town and just got back! No problem Thunder and thanks 420d and Them for jumping in while I was away. I don't want this poor 2nd journal to feel abandoned in my absence.

Off to buy distilled water so I can get my next seeds a'floating!

Hey she'd. I'm not getting notifications from this thread. Weird. But I'm going to be up in here anyway! So I got my ducks in a row now. A few kinks but no worries here. Pretty excited again. Blueberry auto and Christmas cookie photo

Ok, let's jump back on the roller coaster because that's what we do!

It's Tuesday and the seeds have been soaking for 36 hours. Here's what I woke up to this morning:

Blueberry 4:

AK 6:

I have my doubts about AK 6 with that sideways split. Not sure it's ever going to manage to put out a tail - starting to look like it would be a breech birth. Blueberry 4 on the other hand was practically out of the shell and I had to be really careful not to crush the plant matter when putting it into the peat.

And the wait begins...

Wednesday update. Tried to get the AK out of its weirdly cracked shell last night and ended up tossing it. I don't have the patience for any more freaks. That left me with two AK seeds, one of which was tiny and the other normal. I put the tiny one in water and tapped it this morning to make it sink. I have my doubts based on the size of this seed but I'll give it a chance.

Generally speaking, the Blueberries have all germed fine, but the AK's have been very inconsistent. I won't be buying that strain again.

Blue 4 continues to make me wait...

Re: Grow #2 - Outdoor/CFL Auto 420 Blueberry & AK-47 Smart Pots With Dr Earth Soil

I heard the blueberry had germ problems. Glad to see you didn't have any, but sucks the AK is being stubborn. I noticed I had different sizes in my pack too but so far 3 for 3 and big and small both came out okay. Hope they grow up big and strong for ya shed!

Thanks Ghost! I plan on taking the weather more seriously this time. I'll leave them under the lights during the day if it seems like it's going to be either too hot (Santa Ana winds may still be blowing) or too cold as we get into late October and beyond.

Which reminds me, I have to upgrade the tin foil hats for the CFLs to something a bit more stable. Maybe cardboard with tin foil hot-glued on. That will be this weekend's project.

Last night I peeked into the shoe box and saw this little bit of green on Blue 4:

which of course looked like this this morning:

And while it didn't have a tap root poking out of the bottom, I didn't want to wait until tonight to get it into the pot (and miss a whole day of sun!). I flushed the pot that Blue 3 had been in which started at 637 PPM and I stopped at 254 PPM. Then I planted the little thang and watered it (even tho the soil was soaking from the flush) with distilled water to ease the transition.

Here it is in it's final home, tiny and hopeful!

It's sitting next to AK 4 on day 37 (if you can believe it!) which got ¼ tsp Open Sesame in ½ gallon tap water this morning:

AK 7 is doing its thing deep in the peat while I wait for its appearance.
