Santb, go and like last post of last page please, just so I know you're seen it and not have to move it forward again
Best drummer I've ever seen, by a long way, dirty three drummer, freaking mind blowing..
We were mixed in the same scene as 311, Sprung Monkey (knew them well...rented practice rooms/studios next to each other) and other fusion bands coming out of So Cal. that were influenced by metal, rock, progressive rock, grunge, reggae, alternative and even jazz and blues. If you've heard 311, they became the banner band of the sound, for a while.
Sorry Grizz; I usually 'Like" everything but missed that one..
Yeah, They were non-stop for 2 and a half hours... Brought a native Brazilian percussion section that went for 15 minute solo in one song; just awesome..
Yeah 311 kinda like metal-reggae... Great songwriters. I loved that one Sprung Monkey album, the first one can't remember.. Turning Japanese cover... Great cover, dodgy song......
Fishbone!! big with skaters, they were cool... And Living Colour were shit-hot musos.. Suicidal tendencies were big with us.. Mike Muir lives here now, I think I read, on Sunny Coast. Infectious Grooves was his funk/metal band. Awesome too..
Y'all are apparently a bit younger than I am... I'm more Pink Floyd... Eric Clapton... Kenny Wayne Shepard... Stevie Ray Vaughn...etc... Don't know about head banging rock...
Glad we won even if I don't know what you are talking about...::....
Suicidal were mad, loved them. Living color I was trying to think of also.. We couldn't skate but acted like we could.. Our group at school come together with skating.. It's funny how much image decided who listened to what..
Don't know about younger Dennise; maybe just different... Floyd were fantastic... Used to be a cover band in a pub I worked at called Comfortably Numb; they just these 2 stoners with acoustic guitars and no mikes with the best voices you ever heard. Every song note perfect...
Stevie Ray.. what a legend. One of my favourite songs is Texas Flood; best video clip ever made is Cold Shot.. Legend player as good as Hendrix taken too early...even for a massive junkie!!

That's how it was.. I don't know how much blood I lost trying to learn to skate but it is a lot; I know I lost at least one half-day to concussion as well....
I've listened/listen to 60-70 also.. Pink mc5 Cohen Bowie Zeppelin etc as long as it's good.. A song like Beatles tomorrow never knows shows how little music has progressed, or David Bartholomew monkey speaks his mind, shows it hasn't progressed at all...
But the music was part and parcel. Suicidals WERE skating for a certain few... All that teenage angst easily expended... That's why I reckon grunge was a scam (just like punk); metal had been there, done that...
I was into rave as grunge took hold.. But I was listening to albini. Argument could be made that he was one of the biggest influences of grunge... He's freaking awesome though, legend..
Beatles white Album is awesome. Zeppelin rule! of course. I listened to a lot of (thanks to Dad) Billy Joel; ELO; Australian Crawl, 50s Rock n Roll... Billy Joel's a genius. Aus Crawl were great too... Icehouse...
Shit, Brotha I wish I could go back.. I mean, I used to fair dinkum LOVE this stuff.. Get bent and talk music shit like a big expert for hours...
Getting old sux. The memories are good, tho'.. No question. No regrets..
OILS! How good were Midnight Oil... Seriously, no where on the planet was so much good music being produced in one place... We easily had the market cornered...
