UPDATE:

DAY 10

Hey everybody :ciao:

Just thought I'd post an update showing how everything is getting on in the Veg room.

There are 2 Blue Cheese clones in the DWC which if big enough in about 2 weeks will be put into the flower room to get this perpetual cycle started :)

I'm not sure whether to start a second Journal for the Blue Cheese or Grow it out in this Journal? Any suggestions, would you prefer to follow it on a separate journal or here? Opinions would be appreciated :)

Clones from the NL5 x Afghan #1 and #2 that are in flower at the moment are at the bottom right, you can see that the strain clones very well with not a hint of wilting or any yellowing. These may be turned into mothers depending on the quality of the final product of the girls in the flower room.

Now on to the new strains :)

Growth is quite strong with these young plants, the Strawberry Blue clearly dominating here with the most vigorous growth of them all, when young shoots were pulled from her the smell was amazing. Hopefully a keeper? ha ha

The Blue Kush, Amnesia Haze and Critical 2.0 all have about the same growth rate, nice and healthy with no problems at all.

The Cream Caramel and Critical Widow seem like they might be the runts of the litter and are really lagging behind.

All of the plants in the Veg room aside from the DWC or cloned girls have been topped to create 2 shoots. 2 clones of each plant will be taken and the original seed plants discarded. I do this because clones never get the same leggyness as seed plants, they tend to have tighter internodes, it makes them much easier to control.

So, 6 plants - 12 clones - 6 of these potential mothers - 6 going into flower room after the Blue Cheese to be grown out as single Colas, this is how I will determine which of them are worth growing larger and which need to be discarded, plus it will be a harvest of 6 strains at once, oh the variety :)

All plants in the Veg room are grown in Coco unless a clone is being prepped for flowering, in which case it will be rooted and grown out in a mini DWC, eventually being potted up to a large DWC.

Nice update bloke. I say keep it all in this journal :) That canopy is sublime man

Great update. My opinion is to turn this grow in to a perpetual grow. Then you can just keep 1 journal going.

Thanks guys, very much appreciated :)
I will take your advice and keep it all in this journal :thumb:

Wow nice variety you have there Green , Harvest time is going to be incredible with all the choices to toke on.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had hoped to have more variety myself last grow the feminized variety pack produced 2 females and 3 males.
Luckily they were different strains , cloning is best by far.
I do like a nice bit of variety, aiming for a fully stocked selection of fine wines, except with cannabis instead :) ha ha
Where did you get your seeds from that a feminised batch produced males?
I had a similar problem once where a regular pack produced all females, maybe that wasn't so much of a problem though :)
UPDATE:
DAY 12
The reservoirs on both girls are going to changed on day 14 of flower with the addition of Nirvana into the nutrient solution for the beginning of week 3. Expect a nice thorough update for that :)
The girls are still doing great, this is just a quick picture update of day 12 of flower to satisfy your appetite :)
Enjoy
Greenfinger I am curious why you choose the last week of flower to use uvb light and not the whole month ?
Sorry I was not clear enough when I mentioned it.
I usually run a UVB 10.0 Fluro tube from the beginning of flower, I just couldn't afford a new bulb after building this new space.
I would have the bulb at least 2" away from the plants for the first month to allow them to adapt. the bulb would then be lowered to about 1" for the rest of flowering, occasionally moving it around the garden.
What I am doing for this grow is running the MH for the last week of flower as it produces UV.
I have done this before on a test run of mothers I know well and had dialled in and there was definitely a noticeable improvement in potency, the plants also seemed to be quite a bit frostier and the aromas were also stronger.
I basically use the HPS to fatten up the buds and the MH for the last week to increase trichome development and cannabinoid production. The MH must be Bare Bulb for this to work though as the glass in a hood or cool tube filters out UV light before it reaches the plants.
Ideally for the best spectrum for flowering to get the best growth, terpine and cannabinoid production would be 1 MH for every 2 HPS or the ratio of 1:3
I just do not have room for 3 lights in my system I would need an actual room for that, maybe, one day ha ha
Here is a really interesting Video describing the relationship between Cannabis and UVB I think everybody should find this quite informative
O.k I get it , I thought it would be good to use for a month but with no experience I thought it best to ask what info you had in case a week was working for others.
Apparently UVB bulbs lose most of the UVB output by 10,000 hrs so their usage should be optimized
I'd say start as early as possible to acclimatise them, I would try not to have the UVB output at plant level higher than that of the sun as it may potentially sunburn them.
10,000 hours doesn't seem too bad, that's about 2.5 years of 12/12, probably best to replace them sooner though :)
You ever messed around with reptile lights mate? Your girls are looking gorgeous as always!
Much appreciated :)
Reptile lights are exactly what I use, the strongest I could find was a repti-glow 10.0 40w UVB Fluorescent tube made by Exo Terra .
