GratefulBud's Summer 2023 Outside Grow

Good idea...over dry is worse than over wet!
I am hoping that’s not what she said, coz if it is, she’s doing it wrong!

LOLLING!

LOL!
In either case, wetter is better!

The Critical Kush is in a turkey bag and I'm burping it to get down below 64%. Currently about 69%. It smells like a lemon shoved up a skunk's ass. The SFV OG is in range - 63% - so those 3 turkey bags went into jars. Smells sweet and fruity - wonderful!

I'm gonna need more jars for the Critical.

You're gonna need more cupboard, too..👍
Gonna need room for 5 more jars I think. My wife is starting to think I’m a madman.
That’s a great nug pic!

I think 420 wants us in the comps, and when I say think I mean know lol.
Thanks Tra!
I’ll post more nug pics. Critical nuggets are chunky. Smells like skunk ass tho.

This post will be all about the Gorilla OG in the SIP.
Seed sprouted 4/20.
Flower July 26th.
Harvested October 11th = 78 days in flower.

Here she is on 6/21 during veg:

This is how she looked before flower on 7/7:

She still looked good first week of flower:

Here she is on 8/25. Just starting to throw a hissy fit and stop drinking.

And her she is on 9/15 after a few weeks of top watering she looked better.

A week before chop on 10/5

Bones after final chop on 10/12

Been in the jar since 10-17 so drying in the box took 6 days.
Smells pretty good but not quite ideal yet.
Here is a nugget:

Here is the SIP bucket build:

And here are a few pics of the bucket after chop:

Lots of roots all the way down. None in the center hole but packed on the outside ring. I'll break it down further tomorrow. Also note roots start less than one inch below surface - so all the way up. Not sure if that was due to top watering or not. Also interesting to see the green algae above the blue tape.

Congrats on your extremely busy October harvest! :bravo:

Lost quite a bit to caterpillar damage, but that's the tax I pay for growing outside.
Yeah, that's just the way it is. All you can do is minimize it as best you can. I was pretty fortunate this year.

I did not care for the Mimosa. The effect was more "up" than I like. But that was a tester bud pulled a week or so before I chopped so maybe the rest has a different effect?
Just smoked a few puffs of Mimosa and the effect is really nice!
I guess that extra week made a difference! :thumb:

Hopefully I can bag em when they are around 62-64%. I'll put in Turkey bags for a few days, then into jars.
Mine goes into the jars at apx. 66-67%- since I can't get mine to take longer than 6 days drying in the drying box, I'm hoping an extra week of burping will "simulate" a longer drying time...
I don't know if it does anything for the taste or not, but it does seem to keep more of the smell intact..
I have a similar issue with my buds drying too fast. Part of that is due to me taking the buds off most of the stems and using a drying basket. 4 or 5 days is pretty much all the time they spend in the basket. I aim to transfer them into turkey bags at about 68 - 70% rh. Then gradually let them finish drying down to 62% before putting them into jars (with a Boveda pack) to cure. I feel like this somewhat simulates a slower hang-drying time. From harvest to jars is close to 2 weeks for me.

So I cleaned up the remaining CK from the box and put all into one turkey bag. Weighs 196 grams. Not sure how much the bag and tape weighs but the buds gotta be over 6oz. Should I split into 2 bags?
My philosophy is "the more the merrier".
Since my harvests seem to span several days, eventually putting them all into one turkey bag helps to balance them out so that by the time the bag reaches 62%, all the buds are pretty much the same.
I'm gonna need more jars for the Critical.
That's a sweet problem to have. :high-five:

It can definitely feel like this. You focus on the bull, you’ll get his shit. Don’t let the bull and his shit live rent free in your brain. Remove the bull and his shit and you’ll live happily ever after.

Lolllling!

I also noticed all the algae above the tape line, and I wonder if that contributed to the problems you saw during the grow. :hmmmm:
I wondered the same thing.

I have two SIP’s at my front door. I know they seem to be a new concept here, but as I’m sure you know, SIP’s have been around since you were but a tickle in your daddy’s nut sack. My SIP’s have two plants I often overlook watering, hence the sip. Anyhoo I repotted new plants and cleaned them out a couple of months ago and omg the funk and fungus living in that SIP section shook me. They are great, but can be bacteria traps that’s fo sho.

Yeah kinda weird. The first nugget I sampled was more of an uppity high. The next few doobies hit me pretty good!

I went with two drying options this year - many paper bags in the fridge but most hung and dried in the box we made. Jury is still out. I kinda prefer the fridge but if the taste is better from the weed dried in the box I'll need to rethink things. I only got one plant to get anywhere near your plan - the Critical Kush. When I put it in the turkey bag it was around 68% RH. Burped it down to 62% then put in jars. So far so good!
Even the jar I dried in the fridge smells like a skunks bum tho.

Nice plantumentary post on the SIP Gorilla OG! I'm glad you plowed through the stall and got it back to a solid harvest, :thumb:
Yes me too. Was pleasantly surprised at what she yielded. The SFV OG was a bit of a disappointment. Many buds were light and airy. My fault.

Probably.

I try to see the positive in life. Getting more difficult lately.

I'm not going to complain (much) about growing in SIPs, but I won't be doing it again (don't tell Azi).
Friggin plants were too damn big!
Plus I was looking for a 'set it and forget it' option. The SIPs required a lot more work than I anticipated, and the smaller 5 gallon buckets really didn't allow me to water less than once (or twice) per day. I would recommend a much larger reservoir.

Yeah I know - complain complain complain.
WTH am I gonna do with 30+ jars of weed?!!??!!!??!!???

What I've got, you've got to give it to your papa
What I've got, you've got to give it to your daughter
You do a little dance and then you drink a little water

What I've got, you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got, you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got, you've got to get it put it in you
Reeling with the feeling, don't stop continue

Realize, I don't want to be a miser
Confide with sly, you'll be the wiser
Young blood is the lovin' upriser
How come everybody wanna keep it like the Kaiser?

Give it away, give it away, give it away, now
Give it away, give it away, give it away, now
Give it away, give it away, give it away, now
I can't tell, if I'm a kingpin or a pauper
