Grateful Bud's Backyard Outdoor Grow - SFV OG

Unless they are micronized, organic top dresses take around two weeks to become available to the plant.

Is there a risk if I top dress with GF, but also continue feeding with FF for a week? Appreciate your input!
The plant should use the synthetics until they're gone and then look for the organics that will be there once the GF works its way into the soil.

I hope whoever will be doing the watering will be there often enough!

Like Shed said, the bioavailable nutes that come in a bottle will always be used first, since this all flows up into the plant with the water. The microbes will be out of work until that is all cleared out, because they only act via instructions from the plant as to what to bring to the roots, and as long as the plant is being happily fed, this interaction between the roots and the microbes will not take place.

I would assume 3 days to really get the topical application of GeoFlora to start working, so I would feed with the FF one last time, and on your next water only pass, I would make it a 3x flush to get rid of all the FF stuff, and during that water only flush/watering, I would apply the GeoFlora for the first time at the very end... just enough to get it watered in without being flushed out. Give only water from then on and the GeoFlora will kick in naturally and your plants will not go unfed.

Thanks Emilya!
Appreciate your advice.

Unfortunately I now have other issues.
Sunny has caterpillar damage to several top colas.
Motheflocker.
Dammit.

I must have left the netting off for too long a few days ago. Judging by the poop nuggets he’s a big flocker too. I picked off as much damage as I could but did not find him. I sprayed her again with BT and left her in the shade. Sprayed Lori too as her buds are similar progress - thickening up. Did not see any damage to Lori or the others but I am totally bummed.

Will spray the others this afternoon when it is cooler.

In 2020 my crop was devastated by caterpillars.

Motherflocker.

You are not supposed to pre mix FF nutes... after not much time, some of the nutes will drop out of the mix and react against each other. This is the whole purpose of chelation, to keep the minerals inert while still in the bottle.
Thanks - that’s what I thought. Mix fresh each time.

Maybe not- could be butterfly caterpillars...
Is the damage to the actual buds, or just the leaves around them? The butterfly caterpillars I've dealt with only ate the leaves, and left the buds alone.
Moth caterpillars, on the other hand, will eat everything...

Hi mate,

What about pre loading nute dosages for feeding, in some sort of small containers?
Hopefully your garden sitter could pour that in to whatever size container you feed with along with your water source.
May have to skip cal mag if you’re using it, if too complicated a request to add 15mins before nutes 🤷🏼‍♂️
Excellent idea!
Thank you!

These caterpillars chew the inside of the buds. Pretty sure they are white moths about the size of a quarter. I’ve been seeing them fluttering around our garden.
Little bastards.

Hoping the bt spray kills them and all their friends dead. Then I’ll pick off the damaged buds. Hoping for minimal rot.

Grow outdoors, they said.
It’ll be fun, they said. . . .

You'll learn all about bugs, they said....
oh, they left that part out?

That BT should take care of them- A few years back, I had a cheese plant outside that I had to spray morning and night, got rid of the 'pillars in 3 days or so- but, they keep coming back, so I kept up the spraying till the end, but only once a day.
BT is totally harmless to the plant, so spraying more often than recommended won't hurt anything...except the caterpillars.. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Omg Summertime growing is so danger laden. Between the bugs and the fucking mould! It’s enough to drive you to drink!

I am loving this Wintertime almost insect free grow.
I grew six plants summer of 2020. Minimal issues. Got 2-3 oz per plant and I was happy.

My buddy had an indoor grow with 8 plants that he could not finish - had to move. So I figured would let them sit outside for last 6 weeks. No nets. In November which gets a little cold for us. All was going great! I trimmed off a bunch of larf and did not see any signs.

A week or so later every bug within 2 miles must have smelled the fresh flowers and they all showed up at once. Caterpillars and aphids. Within 3 days we lost about 75% of the crop. Devastated.

That’s crazy! I’m sorry to hear that :(

Yeah bt is in the rotation now for sure.
I just inspected others and not seeing any other damage so knock wood.
