Houston... We have a problem... I think. When I opened the tent this morning and started our daily routine, I felt a lot of crispiness. I felt the soil and it was dry down to my whole index finger. So, I gave her some water at 6.9. Here she is. What am I screwing up?

Just give her some water and check her more offer. Her roots have taken hold and she is going to require more to eat and she is going to explode. Once she starts to explode look into lowering the light but not until then

Then, that's what I get for not checking on her yesterday. Just didn't have the energy. I think this bronchitis might have found me. Next couple of days will tell. I'm glad to know that it's nothing I'm messing up, though. Thanks a lot guys! May have to start watering almost daily at this point, I would think.

The one thing about these plants is they bounce back from a lot. The beauty of weed! Her top growth looks good to me. I would guess because you felt the dryness before you could see it, you were able to catch it. .
They sure are. That's so true, HH. Just the example of my bumbling transplant and ear she still is, makes that point quite well.
I must give serious props to G2H for getting me started on that, and all of you for seriously encouraging it. I just do what I'm told... 😉

Hey gramps you are trying your best and thats all that matters.. nothing you can do about things out of your control. Except to stay positive! Keep up the good work man.
Thanks Toasty. That's all any of us can do, right? Sometimes we just need to hear that. I'll tell you what... You are so far Advanced from me, it's not even funny! I've been trying to understand your journal, but what you guys are doing is way over my head. You keep going as well, my friend! :thumb:

Hey Gramps....I really can't recommend you trying KindSoil next time you try to grow. I grew it in my very first grow and its a legit water only soil for the entire grow. Iamtoasted is growing in it now and his plants look fabulous. You should really look into it on your next grow. Its not nearly as hot as your current soil appears to be.

Do you guys mean straight Kind soil, or some kind of mixture of it? I was thinking of you either mixing this that I have left with FFOF in some way. Maybe mix it all together in a 50/50 mixure. Or maybe place 1/3 mixture of it on the bottom of the pot, and then fill the rest of the pot with the FFOF. If I do it that way, maybe she won't burn either. I am not putting down your suggestions at all. Just trying to use up what I have here now. Thoughts?

You only fill kindsoil up maybe 2 to 3 inches then fill the rest with your regular soil. The plants send out roots looking for the good stuff then explode when they find.

Hey grandma, I am a new grower also! When I found your journal I had no idea what I was in for. I have spent the last 3 days catching up and found myself captivated, so much so in fact that I have poured over every word and it certainly has been a roller coaster ride! I found myself praying for you when you did you first transplant, I knew the deed had already been done, but geez what a harrowing moment. I couldnt have imagined doing my first transplant, not so long ago, without being able to see, I was very nervous but you did great.

I have been astounded by the generosity of this community during your grow and through all of the other journals I have read. It warms my heart to think how blessed you must feel to have met such a wonderful group. I have no doubt in my mind that if I start having trouble with my grows that help would not be too far away.

My disclaimer, I am a new grower but have a fair bit of vegetable gardening experience, please take my advise with a grain of salt. Like I said I have poured over your journal from start to finish over the course of 3 day, I feel like that gives me a unique perspective because I have been able to condense what has been said into my short term memory for analysis. In my opinion, alot of your problems are due to an arid climate. When plants are young they rely on RH for water intake, they are literally drinking water from the air through their leaves. Several people have suggested that you mist your plants, you can do this until several weeks into flowering. I have been battling low humidity as well as I live in a colder climate and my furnace is running all the time. My RH is into the teens, so I mist twice a day, some days when I have too much time on my hands I do it more but some days I forget completely. I think of it as taking a load off the roots and putting the leaves to work, in 2 months of doing this I have not had any burning. Just make sure to avoid getting your lights and other electronic things wet.

Another byproduct of living in an arid climate that I have noticed you having is watering issues. The top of your soil is drying faster than the bottom. Although this is whats supposed to happen it seems as if the top of your soil is drying too fast. I would suggest an inert mulch like clay pellets or rocks, but stay away from mulch you would use in your garden or anything else organic, you don't need additional nutes leaching into your soil that already has everything your plant needs. Mulch will help your soil retain its moisture by preventing evaporation.

Other than that, it looks like everyone has gotten you dialed in, when your new growth looks supple and green there isnt a problem that cant be overcome. God bless.

You only fill kindsoil up maybe 2 to 3 inches then fill the rest with your regular soil. The plants send out roots looking for the good stuff then explode when they find.
Okay... So 2 to 3 inches of the Kind soil or maybe even what soil I have now. Then fill the rest of the pot with the FFOF
Do I compress the seed to harvest? If not, then how do I compress a fox farms? Something else also occurs to me. She will have roots in the Fox Farms as well as in the seed to harvest soil. Do I need to give nutrition to the Fox Farms part of it? How would you suggest I do the watering in this particular case? Sorry about the amount of questions. But, inquiring minds want to know... :tongue-out:

Yes its a water only soil.. sure you could add this and that if you wanted but ive had no issues so far. A few burnt tips on two of the plants but that lets me know they have rooted into the kindsoil and are happily feeding away. Once they rooted into it, no more burnts tips appeared just the initial ones.

You are supposed to add a pound of kindsoil per gallon of container. So 1 gal pot gets 1 pound kindsoil 2 gal gets 2 lbs ect. 7 cups of the kindsoil equals 1 pound. If you wanna go through the trouble adding it cup by cup, pack them down a little each time and make sure to keep track of how many you have put in. I messed it all up and tried to even it out as much as i could lol. I wouldnt go by inches of soil but how many lbs you think you have added. One of my pots is almost half full of kindsoil just cause its not as wide.

Your plants will feed off of the fox farms before it roots into the kindsoil.. fox farms has plenty of goodies in it. No need to add anything. Ive been using ro water and my base soil is roots organic, they looved it.

One thing i noticed, with your help too.. once they hit that kindsoil they need watered more it seemed. Like how your plant is suffering in that hot soil and you kept giving enough water to water the top layer of the soil. They dont need the whole pot to get soaked.. if you know the pot is heavy enough and its still moist down there, they like that little bit of water to soak up. Thank you for teaching me that bud.

Hope that wasnt too much all at once.. still have a few more tidbits of info. A lot to know and a lot to learn! Good day to ya gramps.
