Grandpa Tokin's RDWC & Timber COBs

re: Grandpa Tokin's RDWC & Timber COBs

LOL! Mmmmm...Bacon! I forgot I posted that. Apparently it was a stoney good evening for Grandpa... :tokin:

Things are moving along in the flower room. There's a few very decent looking buds beginning to form. Stacking looks pretty good right now. The inter nodal spacing appears to be on point. I'm still pretty light on nutes and that's fine with me. They are eating and drinking as expected so I'm happy with that.

I hope you all have a great day!

Looks like I'm going to need to do another under-net defoliate... :bravo:

I now have two clones rooted. They both will get their new bucket homes this weekend.

Here's what a neglected AK-48 looks like in veg. Poor little thing...

Nice roots GPT, growing like da weed @!! I've gotta do some hair cuts the weekend too

The two things I hate the most about growing my own weed...defoliation and trimming. LOL...keeps the deer happy though. :tokin:

Following! My those ladies look amazing. Glad you back up and running! I have to ask about your nutes your using. I am soil mostly cause its what I have always done but this is making me think of switching to my own RDWC system for a better yield. I have a Raspberry cough going now. Not sure on yield but I think i'm about 4 weeks out from harvest. First time with RC. Any advice is welcomed. My Gallery has images of her currently. I don't wanna hijack your journal so didn't add any pics. +rep!

I kinda like defoliation, but not trimming. I'm guessing I'll go in the shed next Friday and roll out Sunday afternoon.

WEIRDO! LOL! Just kidding...

Thanks and welcome triumph. I’ll head over there and take a look. If you look back through these pages, somewhere in this journal I posted a video of my first time growing this strain. It was several years ago when I was in soil also.

Hey Grandpa! Just caught up all 22 pages and so now I can sit in the back row and watch. Your deer will be well-fed but besides raisins, I have no idea what your lady bugs are eating. Looks clean as a whistle in there :)

Shit's so frosty in his room he has to go move them around the poor things are stuck like fly paper.

Garden is looking lush and green brother......love what you have done with the place! Nice guard bug you have there too...... "NO MITES SHALL PASS!!!!

I found one checking out a squirrel surprise in our garden. Apparently a squirrel planted an acorn in this pot one day when I set this plant outside. Low and behold a little oakling sprouted a few days ago. Be vigilant in your watch Ladybug.....eat all them unwanted bastages!

Yeah, I've had beans that popped the same damn plants and then those that take on genetics of a great grandmother or something...LOL! It's all good.

I'm not worried. I'll get some bud.

Excellent question! I would add something in the middle–like a Q-board or something with a little different spectrum or different K. I'm not an expert on lighting and not really up on what colors and all that. I can say–because my last grow was my first with only COBs–that the 500w of COBs yielded on par with or slightly better than 1000w hps. I am going to add a Mars Hydro in the next few days for some added colors. It's all been an experimental journey for me. I wish I knew more to help you.

Thanks JM! I'm so happy I didn't throw them all out. I really appreciate your encouragement.
I was thinking about mixing quantum boards for the same reason. That whole Emerson 1 and 1 equals 3 thing. Then I found something from Rapid called The Mass Medical light. It used cobs of different color temp to augment the spectrum. I'm itchin to build something different.

No one can say your lights don't work! I really wanted your opinion... thanks

I love lady bugs! I love that picture too Van!

The details in the fans and their edges, catch my eye right away. Tight nodes up there too, prepare for a frosty entourage. :) :goodjob:

JM pointed out the "ripply" effect on the fan edges. I've seen it before but I don't remember where. It has to be a genetic thing. Looks cool though huh?

Love the lady bug pics especially yours grandpa t .. fat lady bug weighing the end of the leaf down. And with that jungle around her, its neat she just so happens to be there and allows you to snap the beauty of nature. Sweet pics guys thanks for making me smile. ...

Thanks! Yeah, there's something about pictures like that; put a smile on my face for sure.

LOL! Emerson... hahaha! That's good! You can build your own much better than I could. I'm certain you, of all people, could build a pussy with a hammer... :tokin:

I hope so Iti! Thanks!

Don’t know if any of you noticed, but the title of this journal was changed (and then changed back) by 420 because it referenced Timber COBs—who was not a sponsor at the time I began the journal. However, I’ve just been informed by Teddy, that Timber is once again a sponsor at 420 so I’m free to show and talk about my lights.

*if you’re reading this and you represent Timber...hit the old guy up for a sponsor grow. I’m available to be your beeyatch! **Offer available for a short time only** :tokin:

Today is Day 14 of flower. How time flies when you’re having fun! I sincerely hope each and every one of you are having a great 420 kinda day. I know I am. I have my weed doctor appointment today so I can redo my medical marijuana card. My card says, “Cardholder is own provider.” I like how that sounds. :tokin:

Everything’s going well as far as I can tell. Steady as she goes... Enjoy!

Here’s a Grandpa trick. I ran out of piece water—which is damned expensive—so I filled the bong with 100% cranberry juice. This is what the bong looks like after a day and a half of hitting large bowls. Each bowl is at least 3-4 good rips. With plain water it would be a lot more filthy. When fresh it will change the terps a bit.

This is what I’m working on today—after the weed doctor:
