Grandpa Tokin’s Perpetual

Grampa, how close are you to the snow I saw in the news this morning. If I'm remembering right you're somewhere in the Big Sky. I loved it there backpacking through Glacier N.P. in the 70's

It snowed at Glacier already. It won’t get to me for another few months, but I’m preparing now just in case. It hasn’t hit the mountains around me so I’m good.

The first time I realized what the milky way was, was in your fine state GT. No light pollution back then in that hood. Who knew reading by moonlight on the trail was a thing. One of my best memories outdoors.

Glacier National is a bucket list for me. I have ridden most places but not there. I hate rally's and the party aspect of being a motorcycle enthusiast but the black hills, rushmore and the badlands are all on that northern route for me to explore.

I am going to try the DWC method here gramps (I hate calling you that because I am no spring chicken) so I would like to pick your brain on what works and doesn't. I am going to start out in one bucket in my veg tent.

I hear ya. It’s a beautiful place. I love living here...until it’s 20 below. LOL! Then I want to be in Miami.

That’s how I started Sam. One bucket in the veg room. As soon as I saw the growth rate, I knew I was hooked. Please let me know if I can help bud. You’re going to love it.

Funny we're all alike like that. Ms otter and I been looking at places to retire in for years. We're both free now and we choose to stay where our kids are close by. Good thing we live in paradise. Long winters suck like the yankees!

I couldn’t wait to leave this podunk country life when I was young. Spent 30 years trying to get back. I knew I would retire here. I actually don’t mind the winters. I just like to complain. :ganjamon:

Glad you made it home, I'm trying to go back to my home town right now but just not much work there.

I understand. Not much around here either. I like it now that I don’t need a job.

I have always lived in the country. I bought this house in the city with the intent to flip it after I sold the big house in the country that I bought with a girlfriend at the time and had to get away from. Problem was I bought it in 07 right before the crash. Now I am just waiting it out until retirement. I do not want another mortgage at this point in my life. I f-ing hate living in the city.

Fortunately about now you can break even or make some on it hopefully. 07 bad times bro.

Grampa, You being here is jogging my memory. Back in 75 I was thumbing through Butte. While getting interrogated by the local law, a hiker I met a few days before in the tetons recognised me and picked me up. We decided to travel together for a while. He had a van, I had gas money, we both had wander lust. Shortly after we stopped for a leak in the middle of nowhere( there was plenty of that). So in the middle of a good piss a dove landed on my head and stayed there until I made a move. Made me grin like crazy! Never forget my short stay in Montana and that's one reason.

I have a few years yet before I retire, a nice small farm would help a lot lol

That’s what I wanted. I could only afford a small place on 3 acres, but it had everything my wife and I wanted. It already had a large shop and a small barn all setup for horses. It was exactly what I was looking for and I knew I would die here...I didn’t realize at the time that it could really happen so soon. I’ve only been retired for 4 years. LOL!

I hear ya! I got real lucky on a few houses over the years and they allowed me to put a huge down payment on this place. My mortgage is low and will hopefully be paid off in the next few years. Like I said, I am lucky...all around.

I'm looking forward to not needing a job, but that's probably gonna be the day after I'm dead! Nice work on the diet and exercise routine GT and we're all happy to have you around after going under the saw. You're an inspiration on many fronts here.
:Namaste:

I know how it is. Like I said above, I got lucky. Every day I can’t believe how lucky I really am. I appreciate you saying that. I’m feeling really good right now. It’s been at least 10 years since I’ve felt this well. I have a very long road ahead still, but I’m determined to lose this fat off my body. I can’t believe how I had let myself go. It crept up on me...I want to feel my core again. I’m taking baby steps, but it’s working and that makes me happy.
