Grandpa Tokin’s Perpetual

Hi GT! Old tokers trying to keep old age at bay, my kind of people! Hope you don't mind if come along for the ride. I'll started reading your oil thread I want to do that, and I'm going to read your rosin thread. Thanks for all the great info and have a great evening!
Thanks Bubba! You’re welcome here any time.

Push day! 100 medium-wide pushups, 50 seated Arnold presses, 50 seated front raises with an inward twist to activate front delts and inner pecs at the same time. Started at 0700 so I don’t melt…it’s Africa hot down here. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I hate to preach, but here goes:

If you are physically capable of starting a consistent fitness journey, I highly recommend it. It has completely changed my life and kept me alive…but not just alive…it has really helped me gain another purpose in my life. The benefits are astounding in just a short amount of time. As I’ve said before, proper nutrition remains the hardest part of this journey. In the beginning it was the physical stuff; now, it’s the eating clean that’s harder. The physical stuff gets easier and easier and you find yourself adding weight or doing more reps very quickly. Eating healthy and like a bird (if you are trying to lose fat) is not fun…not fun at all. However, it works guys and gals…it really does.

Stay safe please!

Keep it up GT! Getting old is so much easier if you keep yourself in decent shape. I'd like to lose 25 lbs this year. I lost 50 in 2020 and have been not-so-slowly adding it back. So annoying, especially if you're like me and don't really like healthy food lol. My personal issue is eating a bunch of crap at night. If I just start eating grapes again instead of junk food that's an easy 10 lbs lost right there. Plus I haven't been back to the gym since Christmas.

You're exactly right it doesn't take long at all to start building muscle and feeling better. Just be careful with the weights, as we age ligaments tighten, etc. I've found I'm much more susceptible to pulled muscles now. You're inspiring me to get back at it. Have a great day!

This is no joke…when I started working out again I had just had a heart attack and quadruple bypass open heart surgery. I couldn’t do one pushup…that’s after waiting the prescribed 8-10 weeks before even driving a vehicle. I had to start with wall pushups and I could only do a few at a time. It took at least a year of consistent training for me to get in decent enough shape to do somewhat “normal” workouts. I’m still old and I know it…my body doesn’t let me forget…but I try to do functional type of workouts. Simple stuff that aids old dudes like pushups, inverted rows, squats, lunges, and chin-ups.

Now I incorporate three exercises per round of walking. One round takes about 12 minutes for me to walk at a fairly fast pace. I do a round and then stop back at my garage and complete a set of exercises (in a superset fashion). Today was a pull day, so, for example, I did chin-ups, then seated dumbbell curls, and finally seated dumbbell lateral raises. One after the other as fast as I can without really resting if I can. Then, I do another walking round, and so forth, until I finish five rounds and then I do a 6th round, but just walking to cool down. So in total, I do 5 rounds with exercise and 1 round with just walking. It takes about 1 hour and 25 minutes depending on what day it is (push-pull-squat) and how much I force myself to work harder and faster.

I now look forward to working out. I enjoy the punishment… :headbanger: Like I’ve said over and over though, eating clean is the hardest part…by far! Especially in today’s society. Fast food and unhealthy crap abounds. Every time I turn on the TV there is always a commercial about food on the damn thing. Stuff I would kill for most days…

All I can say is I feel 20 years younger. without a doubt I feel so much better than before my heart attack. I’m 100 lbs lighter than I was too…that alone is a miracle.

…LOL rant complete!

Pressed some Black Domina in the 160 micro bags I just got. Yielded more than the 120 micron with the same amount of flower.
I also got a stack of small silicone mats like the one in the picture and will stack them up in a freezer bag and store them. Kind of a trial run for storing rosin when the summer harvest are cured.

Does rosin taste even better after being in the frig for a few weeks? :hmmmm:
I kinda go by the "first in, first out", method of burning my rosin and some of it has been in there for a few weeks.
It seems to taste better. Or is it more likely my frame of mind or how much I've already smoked?:hmmmm::cheesygrinsmiley:

I have that feeling too sometimes. I believe it has to do with the coolness…lower temp hits taste better so maybe the cold of the rosin also makes a difference?

I just read this from Bill Phillips: “Time, much more precious than money, is there for us to invest or squander. Each and every day, we are given the exact same amount of time to work with — 1440 minutes. Where you are in life and where you will go is largely determined by what you do with that time. Spend it carelessly and you will pay the price: poor health, frustration, low energy, depression. Invest your time wisely — By properly caring for your body, by exercising and eating right — and you will enjoy a healthy rate of return. Among the rewards are increased positive energy and clarity. Those paybacks allow you to do more in the time you have to work with. Today, please think about what you are doing with your time. Are you investing it wisely? Are you spending more time than you need to on things that are not productive, inspiring, or important to you? How can you improve?”

Makes sense to me. Today I spent some time doing squats…150 of them to be exact. Then I hit some rosin. :yahoo:

Pull day…I’m beat. It’s been a very good week of physical activity. I feel it though…I’m ready for the weekend to rest and recover. I need food and lots of rest. Pretty sure I lost a few lbs this week. I stayed very dedicated to eating clean and counted every calorie/macro. I feel it. More than just hunger…I feel stronger and pretty darn healthy. There is a clarity that comes with this fitness journey—a “Zen” if you will. :meditate: A true feeling of comfort with accomplishment.

Again, I really hate to preach…BUTT, that’s right…BUTT! It’ll make your butt smaller and really firm. :kisstwo:

Seriously, get off the couch!

Me? I’ma hit dis rosin:
