Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

I’m ready! Pulled out one of the old dab rigs. I notice I take smaller hits with the nectar collector. Just an observation... :cheesygrinsmiley:

Oh man that cap piece is exactly what I need for my dabber bowl tht I got I got a carb cap normal one but cause my bowl is angled like urs it jus keeps falling off lol so I normally jus use my nector collector. I even got the one that holds some water in it so u can cool dwn ur hit as u hit it. It really does make it alot smoother. Plus its I guess a slight filter altho its not alot of water so it really jus cools ur hit off but still love the thing lol. But yea if I had a cap like urs I would keep using my big bong cause I love doing dabs all day lol. If udnt mind me asking where did u get ur cap or what kind is it called so I can try an find one.

I really don’t remember where I got that thing. I think it came with the dish. I think it might have been at a local head shop. Sorry!

Hey Gramps and gang, quick question for you all.

I tried pressing some Tangie Ghost Train today and not sure what issue I am encountering. First press I did about 4 gram in a 160 micron baggie at 200 for about 4 min (3 ton press.....was trying a little longer as Gramps says he has done). Pulled it out, was a bid disappointed with the results in terms of yield, but the bigger issue was trying to recover the rosin off the parchment paper.

On the previous 3 presses (different strains) I had no issues just rolling it up on the little tool. This press just wouldn't roll....it just smeared.

So I decided to a lower temp at for a shorter time thinking maybe I pressed too long. So I did a single bud with no bag in parchment paper (worked really well with no baggie by the way) at 190 for 3 min. Same issue with trying to roll the rosin with the tool. Did I do something wrong? Is this something any of you guys have encountered? Thanks in advance!

I’ve had this issue as well. I believe—not 100%—it has to do with the particular weed being squeezed and plate temperatures (plus RH, but that’s a whole nuther story). For that particular cultivar (first time I’ve ever used that word :cheesygrinsmiley:) you will need to play with temps. Sounds like your Tangie might be a low temp strain.

I pop those “hard to gather” ones in the freezer and/or use a cold plate. It’s then a snap-n-pull motion with a twist... easier when cold but still can be a pain.

That’s my guess...

I usually keep a chilled plate and will throw the sheet of parchment on it in the freezer for about a minute or two (not longer) and it helps with the viscus stuff, once it's collected in a container, let it sit open for a bit and it will thicken in 8-24 hrs.

Now if the stuff is flaking apart like little mica crystals or something, then your way too damn hot. But your not doing that. And it's obvious to all but the most stoned (me).

Thank you!! Thought maybe I messed it up. Man it had some great flavor to it! I got all tangerine out of it. It jacked up my two buddies that stopped by LOL. I am still feeling pretty good 3 hours later!

I have these chiller packs which stay in my freezer and pull out to collect on! Makes collecting a breeze and then they go back into the freezer.

In relation to your question.... some strains have a more sap like resin when squeezed where others are more stable. If you get a strain that is more sap like then use a cool surface to collect on otherwise your shouldn’t have a problem just rolling the tool across and collecting up the rosin!

I like that idea. I have a bunch of those things.

:thanks:

I have found you don't need bags to press huh. Seems that pressing a single bud works just fine and I actually think I get a better yield with no bag.

You will get a better yield with no bag because the bag isn’t absorbing a small amount but your also getting for solid fats and lipids from the buds without using the filter bags!

On smaller presses this is the case sometimes. Also, there is about 5-10% loss to the bag....that is why we save them and use ethanol on them....

I am glad you showed your friends their rightful place with a dab. Was it their first?

What does that mean in normal stoner talk?

LMAO! Stoner... I got lipids on my ass...

Q: What’s better than roses on your piano?
A: Tulips on your organ.

No bag = more “green” tastes in my mind. But...but...Tangerine! Yummy! I bet that tastes fantastic...green or not.

I’m stoned...that is all.
