Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

I had no idea what rosin was when I found this thread and now I pretty much only vape rosin. Its great when you grow!

I love this post!
And I love what 420Mag has done for our meds. With a little help from each other.
:passitleft:

Just did it! I'll be back for some tips for heat and pressure and time. Oh boy!:yahoo:

:woohoo:

Here’s some.

Pucks from a home made pollen press made from pipe, a plug, a flat piece to blank off one end and a g-clamp.

If you don’t have a vise remember you have a press that you can use to make pucks ;)

I don’t think you need bags if you are making pucks. The bags are fun. You can pack a lot in them. Pucks get it done.

You can use your tactile sense of muscle memory for a gauge once you’ve had a play and squished a few ounces.

And for timing. Hey...

Just remember to let it warm up without squeezing too tightly for the first 40 seconds. I’ll spend a couple of minutes coming slowly up to pressure.

You’re going to have a ball.

like to explain my understanding .. you get a pre press mold to make pucks .. to fit your filter bag perfectly.. tricky to slide on practice.. all my press are with filter bags 90 or 120 micron (um) average e coli bacteria is 21 um
viruse about .5um .. stoner facts.. like to stress filter is better .. and dont compare yields .. unfiltered is full of
unwanted materials .. yuck.. spend all this money to cheap out on a 1 dollar filter bag.. dont forget good
parchmount paper .. cheers..

explain my understanding

You are very helpful at explaining how you like things to work for you.

like to stress

That sounds true. I’m slightly concerned that if you are over-prescriptive there are just too many obstacles. That’s a stoner fact too.
While the mechanical properties of greeblies is fascinating that’s way off topic here unless you are in commercial production.
Context and a sense of occasion that’s all I’m saying. Let’s aim for ‘differently right’ not ‘more right’ and quit fighting.

unwanted materials .. yuck..
Personally, I love cannabis. It really is polarising when you do that, delta. I’m sure our man will find techniques that work for him just as you and I both did. Now..
:passitleft:
Cheers.

WoooHoooo!!! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner bud. It was a crazy work day. Super stoked for you. I'm still learning but if there is anything I can do to help, ask away.
And I will be twiddling my thumbs waiting to hear if you can use them to fill your vape carts!
Uhhh....

I could not agree more. I feel the same!

I agree. I am getting better at feeling the pressure. I haven't been able to do any presses in a couple weeks but there is definitely going to be some muscle memory coming into play when I get around to my next squish. That's about the only damn memory that's working right nowadays...
unfiltered is full of
unwanted materials .. yuck..
Uhhhh.... I have tried both filtered and not. The latter was not yuck...at all! Not even the non-cured bud. It still had a delicious herbaceous flavor. I blame that to not being cured. I would bet $$$ that some flash frozen buds pressed in pucks without bags would be some of the tastiest and best overall experiences with rosin.

I would agree though that the cleaner the rosin, the better the experience. Clean rosin CAN be produced from unfiltered presses if done correctly.

dont forget good
parchmount paper
Great reminder delta.
Ohhh... & @StoneOtter I picked up a great roll of stuff from the zon. Super slick stuff and not too expensive compared to other brands.

Here is the trick though Otter...use the slick side for the rosin...not the other side... *insert head slap* ...I did it twice... *insert face punch*

Congrats on the purchase Otter. :)
I have a few new ones left to give a whirl! The Ispire folks threw some new batteries in the package to try so I can't wait too!
well i would find a few hundred more and get one like mine with the pressure gauge ..

5x3 plates .. good size for single squeeze of 14 grams

rectangular mold .. and 2.5 x4 filters.. 90 micron or 120 i use..

keep pressure low for 60 seconds bring up to 550 for 90 secs.. let the gue run out 2min 45 secs end

to cold plate..

look at the juice here !!!

That's music to my eyes Delta! YUM! Maybe in the future. Thanks for the details!
You’re going to have a ball.
It's already started with all this foreplay!
dont forget good
parchmount paper .. cheers..
The stuff I get at the grocery store?

Super slick huh?I'll look for that.

Any concerns with any of the coatings?
There so many types of the slick paper, GT always bought the big rolls off zon and had great results. Wished I’d bookmarked it . But I’m stuck on the slick paper from the zon . It’s great your getting a press I know you’ll love it .

:rofl::laugh::rofl::laugh: tickle tickle...

Yeah, the super slick is WAY worth the money. I'll send you info. Can't post link...can I post a screenshot? We don't have a sponsor that sells it. At least I don't think so. Here's a quick screenshot of what I ordered. I cut them in half so I basically get 60 sheets. They have different sizes though if you prefer.

I honestly cannot remember some of the forum rules folks. If I'm violating by posting this, please remind me.

Otter was on a similar quest last year, so I directed that comment to him.
10-4 ... yeah, I remember the discussion we had. I too would like to get to that point as well. I think the only way to accomplish that is going to be with hash presses in 37 micron bags for super clean rosin and then put into carts.

From all the things I'm reading the lipids are the cart wick killers. It can be helped with additives but I do understand why you're trying to steer clear. I personally don't see an issue with using terpene liquids if you use the higher quality companies. We'll figure it out. I'm trying to figure out how much would be needed for a good high quality cart. I think if you have an example from a company that you want to strive for, we can collectively look into it. See how they do it and replicate it (within reason). A lot of flash freezing that is simply never going to happen on my budget. $5k for some of the smaller cheaper sublimation units.

how do you tell which side is the super slick side i cant see a difference mind u i cant see close up very well..
i bought the raw parchment paper from amazon .. i got the big sized roll was much cheaper look around..

any one use the raw paper for pressing .. im guessing its ok stuff made for this.. by the name Raw..

I probably won't ever use anything else except a slick paper from now on. The amount of time i wasted trying to not rip the paper and collecting the rosin...forget it! It is very slippery. If you are stoned like I was when I was doing it, then you won't pay attention. Haaa haaa. But yes, it is easy to tell.

i was looking at my raw paper with 2 pairs of glasses on .. i cant see or feel a difference ..

whats a slick paper..

I use chlorine free unbleached parchment paper for cooking. I've gotten good at removal my gripe is it seems to get small tears when pressing where the puck is and then some loss occurs on top and bottom. Hoping to see some increase in yield with a tougher purpose specific paper

I haven't got any tears with the thick paper. It would take A LOT of friction to rip it.
what kind of paper do you have ? got a pictures are good thanks

i can rip my paper.. if i dont hold down with a few fingers on both sides or area around where im
collect up rosin.. the paper can rip easy.. thats on top of the cold plate.. also helps alot if you make
cold plate colder and put the paper in freezer for a few mins before collecting ..

this rosin is sticky stuff can be hard collecting some days..

Sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the press! And the adds! Here's the Wand review I mentioned the other day. THE WAND by ISPIRE

How's taste compared to store bought? Is home squeezed different? Is the flavor I experienced from the store enhanced with terpenes?

I went to a canna event a few years back and had some pineapple chunk outdoor grown squished for me there by a press manufacturer selling presses. I remember it to be delicious however what I bought the other day was way more flavorful. I have to wonder if terpenes are part of their recipe?
