Grandpa Likes To Squeeze Stuff: Solventless Extracts, Rosin, Pressed Here!

Damn this pic makes me wanna press some rosin and my stuff is curing for the next 4 weeks. I might have to make a dispensary run after work and press some. Pics to come later
Man...I'm scrambling around all my stuff to see what I can press. I still haven't used my press. Haa haaa. I did find a few random 1/8ths I found in my stash bag that haven't been opened. I was going to wait to press some of my own home grown flower first but I don't think I can wait any more. Haaa haaa

Also, I was doing some reading and came across these. I want to print or buy something like this to put up on my wall next to my press.

that's a cool chart to have. I usually use the green setting on my puffco peak to dab, and I believe that is 500 degree.

I haven't checked out the link that Shed posted, but from what I gathered in order to make diamonds you need to make thc distillate and then decarb that at 220. When I first bought my rosin press I really wanted to get into making that stuff, but it looks like the press I bought just won't cut it because you need a lot of pressure and I just have a little 2 ton press.
Correction THC isolate not distillate

I point you to this post here regarding diamonds and sauce!
YOU are awesome sauce!!!

Those devices are slick! I was looking at them a while back. I may end up getting one in the future for taking with me on trips. Right now, I'm playing around with different settings to see what I like.

I love mine. I waited for months to find one on sale and got lucky and grabbed one for 125 last fall. I did upgrade my bucket to a silicone carbide insert and that made such a big difference but I highly recommend the peak. The dr dabbler switch is supposed to be decent too but I've never tried it out

Ok everyone! My first press! I decided to use up some old flower that I found laying at the bottom of my stash bag. It is called HBOG (HashBar OG) by Riverview Farms.

It is a 70% Indica Hybrid with approx. 26.3% Cannabinoids. I destemmed and got 11.4 grams to press. I split it in two 5.7 gram bags. One in a 120u and the other in a 90u. Each press yielded 1.1 grams. Ended up being 19.3% return on some old stuff!

OK! Press #1!!! 120u - 5.7g - 1.1g return
I setup the press at 190° and squished until I felt resistant between the plates and bag. I let it chill there for 30" and then I pressed down once. I chilled for a little bit until I started seeing oil, then I pressed down again. I did not get a big pretty oozer but I did blow out the bag in multiple directions! LMAO

BUT...it is dark! Is this bad end product?? Should be thrown out?? Is it because of blowout? Also, this is stiiiicky!!! I've put each press in and out of the freezer with varying times inside. I can't seem to get it off the paper. Is this too thin or low quality of a paper?

Press #2 - 90u - 5.7g flower - 1.1g return

Is it bad that the oil is pushing through the paper onto the platens? I just rubbed it down with some alcohol and cotton swabs. I'm assuming this is either a bad thing or just part of the process kind of thing.

This stuff is so damn sticky. It is in the freezer right now with the hope I can get it off the paper and into a container. Wish me luck...better yet...what is your process of gathering your rosin?

Any and all thoughts are welcome! Thanks for all the help already everyone. Blessings and I wish I could share this press with all of you. I tried it and it is a pleasant and relaxing buzz. I wouldn't say it is too strong or sedating for an Indica but it definitely relaxes and loosened me up a little. The taste was mild as well. I had the rig set at 475°. I cannot put a name or description on the different terps. I'll need to go try some again, take notes, and give an update.

Taste Update: Gassy & Earthy are the only two notes I'm getting. I've tried it at 475 & 500.

I'm sure I've forgotten questions but I want to see if the rosin is ready to gather up plus I want to try another dab of it!

Since your smoking it the bag busting no big deal .
That looks like Wilton parchment paper I hated it couldn’t get all my rosin off and it absorbed it . I’ve got the slick paper and learned to get it off right away.
How long did you leave it , 2 minutes or 3 . @Cortanza is lighter but it’s a different strain and might have done using less time with a higher heat . Fill us in if you would please ?
I have a gauge and time what I do ,set at 3 minutes. I may not use all the time , sometimes 2 minutes is plenty different strains again .
I snug the plates down on the pucks and start timer 30 seconds at 1000 psi and slowly get to 2500 psi by 1 minute. The last minute I just keep going till I hit 4500-5000 psi . If the flow slows by the time 2 minutes gets here all pressure is released . Puck is put into the used puck jar saved for shatter GT’s other thread in his signature.
I have a cold plate I Immediately get the rosin off the slick paper .
My 2 cents hope it helps.

I did 190° at 3 minutes. I did the 30 second warm up and then slowly pressed down until I started seeing oil. Then I stopped for a little but before giving it a couple more presses. I cannot measure the psi unfortunately. Mine isn't setup for it. It isn't Wilton but it is a wholesale bakers sheet. It does seem thin. I haven't ordered the slick paper yet. $30 a roll?! Ouch!

After you get use to it all you’ll use is the timer and maybe not even that . Last I bought the slick paper was $25 for 250 sheets . Grandpa Tokin buys that big roll that usually comes up on Amazon when I look for the slick paper .

Congrats on the first press @BakedARea ! I had issues on the first press I did removing from the paper but cooling it off helped a ton. Just careful because if it freezes a bit too much it can be brittle and jump all over. I'll do a press tonight.

I'm using some parchment paper I really wouldn't recommend but I've done well with Reynolds. Some day I will try the slick paper just to see.

Let us know how it hits ya! I just tried my GSC rosin in my firefly2 for the first time tonight and I am ripped! I bought the vaporizer for dry herb but works great until I decide on what I should get.

Humidty has a lot to do with it. I noticed some of my presses with the most recent batch I grew were coming out runny and after putting them in a jar with a 62% pack for a few days I pressed again and it was much thicker.

My previous experiences are consistent with that. I grew some cbd and pressed it for someone and I did it a little early when the humidity was still high and it was a gooey mess. Once I got humidity packs and was patient that helped a lot

I squeezed some Girl Scout Cookies tonight.

That looks amazing MG!!! Yeah man, I'd love to press some GSC right now. I want to be ripped off some GSC too. Mine is just not even close to being ready yet. I have some that threw into the air fryer on the fruit dehydrator setting. Haaa haaa. I just can't wait. Going to give it another short cycle tomorrow and hopefully it will be ready to press.
