Grand Daddy Purple S1 & Pre-1998 Bubba Kush S1

It's been a while here; sorry. I looked at all the GDP breeding project plants I started a while ago (as opposed to the GDP backcrossing project plants I just finished), and instead of trying to breed this out I'm going to just grow the females to see what traits they have. I'm down to the last male (not many to choose from) and it went into full bloom under 18/6, just like the rest:

These were from both the GDP mother plants I used for all three generations (less-haired and more-haired phenos), and even all the females are going into full bloom under 18/6:

I put four of them into a seven gallon pot and under 12/12.
Here's the Pre '98 Bubba Kush S1 plant I'm growing:

It's really tall and has no worthwhile side branching, so I expect it to take a while to grow back out after I take that top for a clone.
Man, he must have bred something auto into GDP.....

Ahh, God damn my stupid a$$! :p
I have some time before I need my grow locker, I have one topped GDP male left (from the less-haired mother in my breeding project), and it's showing some purple in the flowers. I've got a GDP female from the more-haired mother that I'm gonna toss in with it, so I decided to go ahead and breed those two together and keep it from being a total waste of time due to me being weed greedy and overcrowding them.

:cheesygrinsmiley:
Bred out three generations from the original Grand Daddy Purple seeds with one father and two mothers, I decided to breed the final offspring of those two GDP mothers together. The father is offspring from the more-haired GDP mother, and the mother is offspring from the less-haired GDP mother:

Not much, I know. But this grow didn't go too well due to overcrowding in all my tents. Here's one of the four sister plants to the more-haired father above. The frost looks decent, but the plant didn't grow well:

These plants grew like crap from overcrowding, but I can at least get an idea of how the sister plants to the GDP mother look. These four GDPs are from the same grow as both parents from my breeding project (three are from the less-haired mother; I thought they were all four from the more haired mother). There's good frost on most of them, so I might not go wrong with the parents I picked. I don't see any signs of purple coloration yet, though.
Offspring from the less-haired GDP mother (sisters to the mother plant I'm using now):

Offspring from the more-haired GDP mother (sister to the father plant I'm using now):

I think I'm gonna be better off with the other GDP backcrossing project I'm doing (as opposed to this one).

In what way???? It couldn't be much frostier. Perhaps more potent. But you said this one was

Just picking your brain....what am I missing? The purple?

Exactly. Everything I breed out for a few generations seems to lose that purple color. The two things that make GDP what it is to me are (obviously) the color purple and the grape smell. In the plants I've grown that go purple, I get a skunkweed smell. In the plants that stay green, I get a grapey fruity smell but not color.
I seem to maintain the frost on most everything coming out of this, as a matter of fact I was thinking of taking a good GDP S1 and making it S2. That way I can have good seeds regardless of how these other projects turn out.

Here's a sister plant to the GDP plant above. Looking closer, I guess some of them have a little purple, but not much:

I put three more GDPs in bloom a few minutes ago. My camera battery took a poop on me so I'll get more pics of them up later.
I just took two Pre '98 clones today, and I'll get pics of them up soon too.

About 1/3 of the offspring from my GDP breeding project (more-haired/less-haired mothers) seem to have deformities. Here's a few of the plants:

Of the plants that weren't deformed, I did manage to retain a little of the purple:

The GDP mother and father that I bred together from this grow are dried up in the pots; I grew them as long as they would live. I'll try to get a pic up of them later, but I'm not sure I'm gonna like the offspring of this mess.....
I think I'm going to bag up the seeds from the last round (my GDP S1 backcross project) tomorrow, and I'm thinking of growing those in a month to do the second backcross.

Two plants from my GDP backcross project (I'll be starting the next generation of these seeds soon):

Yeah, I think I'm better off with going in the direction of the backcross as opposed to the breeding project that resulted in the plant from the previous pic (of which there are too many similar plants to it). I'll still keep going later on with the seeds I just harvested, but I like the stability I'm seeing in these. :thumb:
