Grand Daddy Black Grows A Stack

Congrats on the upcoming CK harvest and the clone's relocation to Flip City-
I hope there's a lot of room in the flowering tent... she may need it...

Hello growers.

Just a quick post to let you know that I'll be posting some strain reviews over the coming weeks.

If you're interested, the first one is HERE.

Peace.

For those of you wondering where's Grand Daddy's Stack?
I'm just here to tell you the stack will be back
But Grand Daddy had a major lazy attack
He's resting a little so cut him some slack

Hello growers!

Please allow me to ramble on a bit...

The events of the past few months (grow-wise) have taken a toll on me. Nothing major, mind you, I just got really tired of "doing stuff." Within the period of a few weeks, there were just too many plants to take down, wash, dry, jar and burp. After clearing the four girls from the 4x4 I had to get right on the other six in the 5x5. From a lazy grower's perspective, it was basically poor planning . I've been at a real disadvantage since my logistics guy, Doug, told me he was taking a few days off and then never returned. :Rasta:

Nearing the end of the takedowns in the 5x5 tent, I was about down and out. So much so that rather than wrestle with that huge fauxto Lemon Haze that was the last plant standing, I cut one huge bud from the top and then gave her away to a friend's son (AJ). The LH was the biggest plant in the tent but not quite as big as AJ's eyes when he saw what I was giving him. :laughtwo: It was a great feeling and an even greater relief. Had anyone told me a year ago that I'd be growing plants and then giving them away, I would have begged for some of what they were smoking! But fatigue can change one's attitude in big ways. :Rasta:

So that experience got me to thinking about my entire growing strategy and what changes need to be made. It seems that going perpetual makes the most sense. I can use the 4x4 tent for a veg tent and the 5x5 strictly for bloom. That way I can stagger the finishing times by moving them from the 4x4 to the 5x5 one at a time, with days or weeks in between. The 2x2 tent will serve to start seedlings or clones or (if necessary) as an isolation tent. That sounds like a sound approach.

But what to do in the meantime? I'm not stuck with just one plant, my Strawberry Banana Grape clone ("Clonely"), in the 5x5 tent under the @NextLight Mega. An incredible waste of space and light.

Having rested up a bit I'm gonna try and fix that, while being mindful of how I want to proceed in a perpetual mode beginning in the near future.

So my solution is to try some Fast strains in small pots. I've been wanting to try them and this seems like an ideal time to go for it. And I'm only going to let them veg for about 30 days so they should be faster than Fast.

I'll drop the seeds into water today and hopefully in about 40 days they'll be ready to move into the 5x5 and keep Clonely company.

Ha! (I can't help but to laugh at how I plan for things to go.)

The plants will be (all seedbank designated as "Fast"):
Banana
Big Devil
Bubblegum (whoopeeeeee)
Bruce Banner
Critical Poison

I'll grow them in 3 gallon fabric pots and I'm leaning toward using concentrated super soil because that would be the easiest way to go, IMO.

I can't post a pic of Clonely now because it's still lights out in the 5x5. But I'll put up a pic later today or tomorrow.

New Gadget Get
In an effort to spare myself at least a few trips up and down the basement steps I got one of those Bluetooth-enabled Thermo-Hygrometers. Now I can monitor the heat and humidity levels in the 5x5 tent just by glancing at my cell phone! Had I spent a little more for the wi-fi enabled version I could monitor from anywhere. But I'm very careful about what goes on my wi-fi and I'm not there yet. It already bothers me that I think my Smart TV is spying on me!

Finally (no, I wasn't kidding about rambling on), the CDC says I can take off my mask under certain conditions.

I think not.

I've got an underlying medical condition called Scaredy Catitis and I'm going to keep wearing mine for a while!

Peace.

If you see Dick Doug ask him what the heck? for me please. Nice slow down GDB! I'm on the edge myself with getting plants for others and myself for the summer grow. I'm almost there! Nice remedy to have a give away! That always helps.

Hey my Govee told me my humidifier tank was out of water today! The drying will be better now! Out of sight out of mind is so easy. I need something like this.

That's why cats have 9 lives. They're curious and smart. I'm with you! I'll relax when I see fit and mask up whenever I feel! It does free up my head to know things are getting better though. Soon!

Nice slow down GDB!
That's one of the nicest things anyone has ever told me, Stone!

Would you be available by phone to speak with Mrs. GDB about the virtues of "slowing down." She has no grasp of the concept! :laughtwo:

Yeah, the mask thing is becoming a matter of choice in these parts and I've made mine. :Rasta:

Thanks for stopping by, friend. And happy growing!

Hello again growers!

I'm reinvigorated and ready to run!

I got my Fast seeds in the water at 2pm. They're on the heat mat now with orders to pop when ready!

I dropped 2 of each seed just in case of failures. I can't have this grow getting behind schedule due to having to drop seeds after realizing that one or more is not going to germinate. Which ever ones germ will get grown. And since my plan is to grow 5, I'll probably get all 10 to germinate!

Now to prep their next solo cups and their final pots with soil and perhaps a few other amendments. I'll detail all that after I make final decisions on the medium and get it done. My biggest question now is how many pots and cups to prep, 5 or 10?

No, that's my second biggest question. My biggest question just came to me - late: "Why in the hell did your lazy butt drop 10 seeds?" :laughtwo:

Peace.

no, I wasn't kidding about rambling on
After reading all that I wasn’t sure if I should laugh, cry or send you good vibes but I believe I will just call you Scaredy Catitis.
Way to slow it down for a week. :p

Just don't call me collect!

Oh gdb, I love the tactics. I'm kind of the same way with trying to get beans to pop this last couple of weeks. I'm even having trouble with some for outside. Put 4 down, get 2, wait for the other 2, put 4 more down, get 2 more, wait again... but go figure I put 3 or 4 veggie seeds into 1 plant cell and get 3 or 4 growing out every time :laughtwo:

I hope you do get all 10, not only to see the fiasco unravel, but because we should get what we pay for, canna seeds aren't cheap.

Hope you had a great weekend friend. Try to take some time while these new ones are just babies. Take care

Hello grow gang.

It's been 28 hours since I dunked the 10 seeds.

I've got seven with taps roots out:
2 Bananas
2 Big Devils
1 Bubblegum
1 Bruce Banner
1 Critical Poison

Not sure what the other BB and CP will do, but I'm guessing the 2nd Bubblegum will have a tap root out probably before midnight.

So I might be getting 8 plants when I was just going for five. And if the other two pop too, that would be so normal. :laughtwo:
One day after formulation my plan and it's been shot to shit already!

It gets worse. When I came up with my plan I left out a major consideration. I took 3 cuttings each of the GOG and C Banana I'm growing in my other journal. And I want to grow the clones out.

So that's 6 more plants and they are totally unaccounted for as far as an inside grow space. Doh!

I think the only thing I did right when making this bone-headed plan is doing it at the right time of the year. I believe I'm about to become an outdoor grower.

I won't dare go into how I "plan" to proceed from here. I can't believe that anyone of you would take my ramblings seriously. :Rasta:

As promised, here's a pic of Clonely all alone in the 5x5. She looks healthy but I don't like the curled-down upper leaves. They may be doing that because the spider mites are still on her. Or it could be the @NextLight Mega is a bit much for her (I turned it down). Or it could be a nutrient related matter.

I'm unsure which but welcome all remote diagnoses. :Rasta:

She's on flip day 9.

Peace.

I notice some of the lower leaves are doing it too, so I don't think it's the light.
That clawing of the leaves usually means too much nitrogen, but she doesn't look dark enough green for that to be the problem, unless she's darker in person than she looks in the pic....
So I probably haven't helped at all...you're welcome- it's what I do :cheesygrinsmiley:

You have helped @Carcass! Thanks for you input.

What is she being fed, and how much? I agree that it doesn't appear to be a light issue. N tox would be my first guess as well.
She's getting 5g per gallon of MC, @MrSauga. It's what her mom was getting when I cut her off.

Congrats on the 7 taproots! 3 more to go.
I'm having crap luck with a couple of certain breeders (same company I believe). So far out of 16 seeds I've gotten 3 good plants and hoping for 3 more to break ground any day thay had cracked. So 6 out of 16

Uh oh, the forgotten clones :laughtwo: I'm sure you'll put them to good use outdoors in your new venture. I grew outdoors first, but not in this province, so I'm still getting a hang of the climate here.

Clonely looks very healthy aside from hose clawed leaves as you said. I would also say a slight nitrogen toxicity is the issue, but only the early stages if so. Just odd where the leaves don't look very dark, unless it is naturally a lighter green strain. Was the mother this dark, or lighter?

Hey, Dick.

Thanks for the congrats.

I believe Clonely's mom was a lighter color. I think I may back off the MC just a little.

Hello growers.

I was right about the other Banana seed. The taproot appeared shortly after my last post. The only complete no-shows now are the Critical Poisons.

I ended up burying 7 of the seeds with taproots:
2 Bruce Banners
2 Bubblegums
2 Big Devils
1 Banana (the second may go outside)

If one of the Critical Poisons looks promising by tomorrow, I'll bury one of them. If not, I'll bury the other Banana.

I also got the 8 cuttings from my other grow (4 Godfather OGs and 4 C Bananas) settled into the GDBCloners. Two of those are promised to someone else.

They're all in the 4x4.

Mrs. GDB sat and watched me get most of this done and accused me of having "some sort of disorder."

She doesn't miss a beat! :Rasta:

Peace.

That seems like a good idea if that's the case. Could be getting just a little too much N from the MC
