Grand Daddy Black Grows A Stack

Hello gs.

I had the Strawberry Banana Grape clone out for watering today so I took a pic.

She still looks scraggly to me, but healthy.

I think I will flip her within the next 7 days and see what she does.

Peace.

Look at all that new growth! I would tie those leaders flat and wait two weeks before flipping. Less height and a bigger harvest.
:welldone:
I've already done some more bending, Shed, and two more weeks is no issue.

I going to try bending these stems in 2 or 3 places on each one. I think it will be less stressful to them and it will make a few of those little knuckles on each stem. I've seen many say that those knuckles improve flow-through.

Hello growers and Happy Friday.

If you're anything like I used to be when I was working full-time, you may have had a rough day at work.

My crew and I used to typically start our weekend festivities on Thursday night and then just suffer through Friday at work!

And on to the update.

This seems like a good day to focus on my GeoFlora-fed plant, the Critical Kush.

She's on day 83 post-flip and eating the goodies out of a lot of her leaves. She hasn't been fed anything but the GF Veg and Bloom with one exception. On the off-feed week between switching to Veg and Bloom she was given a dose of Real Growers Recharge.

In the beginning, I don't think I amend the soil with the GF-Veg before up-potting. (Actually, I'm not sure whether I did or not and my notes don't help me figure it out. I do know I don't remember doing it.) Then I started out over-feeding her, I believe. I gave her 5.5oz (in a 5- gallon pot of FFOF) on her first top-feed and and at least 1 or 2 subsequent ones before lowering the dose to 5oz (maybe still overfeeding) after discovering my mistake.

I also under-watered her in the beginning, not realizing the kind of cake-like property the GF assumes on top of soil which causes water to run down the sides of the pots if not properly watered.

All that and she kept going. One thing you can't deny about GF, it is forgiving! :Rasta:

She is the smallest of the photo plants in this grow but her buds are well-formed and she has a nice bubblegum aroma.

I'm growing another GF-fed plant now. I will probably do things a bit differently with this one, perhaps adding some calmag when/if needed and using Terpinator right before flip and throughout flower.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peace.

The buds look great and the trim might be easy unless those fans are as tough to take off as you've mentioned. If so, forget what I said about the trim but I stand by my statement about the buds!

GF may be forgiving, but you are also forgiving of it. You wouldn't want your MC-fed plant to look like that at the end. ;)
Thanks, Shed. I'm not that forgiving. It's just that I'm taking the blame for how this plant ended up rather than attribute it the GF.

My opinion may change if the next GF plant takes the same path at the end. :Rasta:

Is this one being chopped now or still going? It may have yellowed out quite early but the buds are still beauties and fat looking.

Being your first GF fed plant and still getting the feel for the nutes it turned out very well! As you said, your opinion may change again after the next GF plant finishes. You've learned things through the first one that you can apply to the next.

Great job! :high-five:

Thanks, Dick.

She'll be getting chopped within 10 days, hopefully.

I apply food grade DE to the soil surface mainly for insect control. It also forms a crusty type layer. What I do, is I take a small toy size rake, the head of which is no larger than a match book, and rake/mix the top 1-2 inches of soil. I’ve heard this called “dust mulching”. Then when I water, the water doesn’t pool or runoff. In fact some of the soil will actually float on top of the water. I usually wait, oh say 5-10 minutes for that soil to soak up up the water. If I do that then I don’t have any problem with water pooling and running off the sides.

Thanks, BigD. The last time I fed her, I scratched up the top surface with my fingernails. Probably not the best way to do it. I also find that hitting the top layer with a spray bottle after doing that but before starting to water helped.

Baby-sized rakes are rare in these parts. Maybe a fork will work! :Rasta:

I've done the same thing for quite some time. I've always mulched up the top later a little bit every 2nd or 3rd feeding as the top starts to get a crust, as you said, preventing the water from spreading out and pouring down the sides of the containers. I find it's a good practice and makes watering a bit easier.

Good morning growers.

After only about 18 days in the fridge the Blue Dream'actic is ready for jars!

For the first time I used Mason jars topped with cheesecloth to do the slow and low drying. I found it much easier than using paper bags. It took up less space, was easier to shake the buds around and it was quicker than drying in bags. This will be my go-to method until something better comes along.

I need to attempt this and see how it works for me, I've never done it. Hard to dry here outside of the spring and summer months due to how dry it is. I think I'll be looking for a cheap used fridge for the garage this year. For buds and brews :cheesygrinsmiley:

Buds & Brews. Great name for a weed parlor! :Rasta:

How full did you make the jars initially? World class!

Thanks, Stone!

I usually fill them roughly 7/10s if the way. These have a little more than than thought they are not filled to the top. After I filled four with my usual amount, the pile I had left was not enough for another jar so I topped the 4 jars off with what remained in the pile.

I might have to revisit this later if I'm unable to shake the buds around sufficiently due to overcrowding.

Have a good weekend @StoneOtter, and thanks for stopping by!
