It's Flip + 53 for Copy and Paste and today I've got pics as usual, and a little something else to talk about!;)

All seems well in the tent (Copy is on the left).

Copy is starting to lose a few leaves at the bottom. I'm sorta' happy to see that. It means things are progressing as they should, IMO.

So what's that "little something" else I have to talk about?

It's the fact that to these old eyes, Paste looks like she's maturing at a slightly faster pace than Copy. It's something that's not easy for me to show in pics, but Paste has fewer remaining white pistils, is kicking out fewer new pistils and has more pistils that have or have begun to fold back into the plant.

Keep in mind that these are identical clones and that both are being fed Strive 2-Part nutrients.

What could account for the difference?

Okay, I'm going to let the cat almost out of the bag about the little experiment I'm running with this grow.

This post is about to go from a "little something" else to talk about to being my BIG REVEAL! So please sit up straight and at least pretend you're interested.😁

This is my first time using Strive nutes. I got them around the time these clones were cut. The clones spent a few weeks in solo cups and then in 1gallon pots being fed Strive's recommended dosage.

At some point during their early time in the 1gallon pots, I had some conversations with @InTheShed about the nutes. Shed offered to provide me with numbers he would run if he was using them.

I took him up on his offer.

I was thinking. "This arrogant, SmartyPants thinks he knows how to run these nutes better than the people who made them."

Well, no, I was not actually thinking that, though I can see how some folks might go down that road. 😁

What I was thinking is that I was ideally set up to run an experiment using the different doses and see how things turn out.

I had identical clones in solos but for a few weeks, both having been fed the same doses of Strive for that time. I can up-pot them and immediately starting feeding one the Strive recommended dosage and feed the other Strive dosages according to SmartyPants Shed!

So that's what I've been doing since, Nov. 4th. (Plants were up-potted to 1 gallon pots on Oct. 23rd still being fed the Strive dosage.) Then on November 8th the plants were up=potted to 5 gallon pots and the experiment continued.

Ergo, Paste's advanced maturity is most likely due to the difference in the Strive dosages!

As for this little experiment, the last thing I wanted to do is chance causing any embarrassment to Shed. Nor did I want to give the appearance of trying to prove some of his number might be shaky. Surely I did not want to end this grow saying, "See that pitiful looking finish, that one's due to Shed's bright idea."

That is why I tried to keep this kinda' under wraps until I see how things turn out.

If Shed's plant went south, only he would know. And my plan was to tell you all about the differing dosages at the end but not necessarily identify where the alternate doses originated.

But since both of these plants seem like they'll have a fine, or at least decent finish, I feel more comfortable sharing.

So which plant is getting the manufacturer's dosage and which is getting Shed's dosage?

Ah, remember earlier I said I was going to let the cat "almost" out of the bag?

well Shed calculated my nute formula wjth the future Harvest i use & 3 grows later absolutly no issues & i don't think if i used there feed recomendations i could do just as good or better, i think his calculator he uses is very precise
 
It's a subtle difference, but paste does look a tiny bit farther along than copy...
I think Shed is responsible for the winning formula.
..he knows a thing or two about nutrients.. 😁

I haven't scoped any of them yet Gee. It's a little early for that.

Their mom went to Flip + 86 before she was done. These will be similar, I suppose. I'll probably start scoping trichs around day 70 or thereabouts.

This is fantastic! I'll guess that the bigger better fatter healthier one is being fed Shed rations. Shedrats from here on. Strictly thinking because he would be looking at growing the plant and not at making a profit. Shed knows his nutes!

It does make sense Smoke. And so it also makes sense to assume that one day soon Copy will look like Paste already looks (hint, hint). 🙂

Here are some observations I made about the plants during various stages of their growth.

I guess I can call these "hints" to the answer of which plant is getting what. 🙂

HERE on Nov. 6th I talk about one clone being taller than the other.

HERE on Nov. 9th I up-potted and named the clones.

HERE on Nov. 10th I talk about how Paste was not quite pleased after being up-potted.

HERE on Nov. 11th I talk about why Paste may have been unhappy after the up-pot and discuss the beatdown I gave them.

HERE also on Nov. 11th I discuss why Paste may have been unhappy and how she was made happier.

HERE on Nov. 19th I talk about how Copy appears to be dominate.

HERE on Nov. 24th I talk about how Copy needed to be defoliated.

HERE on Dec.17 I talk about how both plants seem further advanced than their mom was when she was at the same age.

HERE on Dec. 22nd I talk about how Copy appears to be the heartier plant.

HERE on Dec. 28 I posted solo pics showing how Copy is the "beefier" plant.

HERE on Jan. 4th I discuss slight differences in the level of leaf tip burn between the two plants.

HERE on Jan. 5th I posted solo pics on what I considered their halfway mark. These pics also show Copy appearing to outdo Paste.

If you have the patience to wade through all of those links you should have a better idea of how these two clones progressed and be in a better position to cast a vote.

It's Flip + 55 for Copy & Paste and they're still being cooperative!

Having left too much growth on the bottom, Paste has numerous buds sagging down low. They look pretty good though and I plan to leave them on to further mature when I harvest her.

With regard to my little experiment, thus far I've received only 4 guesses about which plant is getting the regular Strive dosage. (And that could be only 3 votes. I'm uncertain which plant @Carcass chose, but I think it's Paste.)

I think the tally stands at 2 votes for each plant.

I thought this would be a fun thing to vote on but voter turnout has been low and since we're all online, I can't even blame the inclement weather. 🙂

However, since I revealed the nature of my test there has been another experiment launched concerning Exedrin or some such thing. The new experimenter is much more well-connected and has much more media exposure than I. Running under the banner of "MPMIA" (Make Powdery Mildew Invisible Again), this guy prolly has snatched the attention of those members likely/willing to cast a vote for anything.

Such is life! 😁
