Go4snypr - Hydro Grow

It's my experience growing Capn style that 12 gallons will suffice for a "weekly" feed regimen. You can stretch this to 10 days, but you should waste the nutes beyond that point and fill it back up and add new nutes as your plant will likely consume the specific nutes that promotes it's given stage of growth and leave behind that which is not needed. For instance, in bloom, plants use a lot of P & K, but not so much N, so if all the P & K are depleted, the remaining unused N can trick you by telling you in PPM that your numbers are right, but your regimen would be way off and your plants would struggle to keep growing which would translate to stunted growth and poor harvest.

Because of this method of growing (I assume in rockwool cubes), it is not necessary to aerate the res, nor maintain chilled water, but if the roots do manage to find their way down into the res, trouble will commence. Residual amounts of runoff on the lid won't give you and troubles, only if the roots get down into the res.

Nice looking plants! Please keep their menu full with 7-10 day res changes and reap the rewards of growing Capn style!

Oops! Thanks Go4. How've you been? Haven't seen you around in a while

I have been good, busy, but good. Just got moved into a new house, trying to clean up the old one to get it sold. I have been lurking on the site when I can but with how busy I have been it has been hard. It was nice to see someone pull up my old grow. I had a little accident with one plant, missed a watering or two as my pump was no longer submerged. Thought it would come back, but no such luck... It was a beauty too, 5 weeks into flower.. Ahh well... there is one in there now to replace it. Guess next time I will do chores before going out on my atv.. lol.

Anytime you want to fire up this journal go4snypr........I have you on speed dial and would love to see you work some magic. :Namaste:

RSOiler AKA 60cal :high-five:

I'm learning something new every time! As far as roots finding its way to the res,I looked up greenthumbs's video, and in the video he's only poking 5~6 small holes under the air-pot to prevent roots getting to the res.

Thanks for the response Skybound!

WOW thanks for the reply! I watched greenthumb's videos, he poked 5~6 smalls holes on the tote's cover directly under where the air-pot sits on. I thought the 6'' hole off to the side was designed for ppm meter to test your water. I guess either works fine

Well boys, if there is interest in it, I will get some pics in here of what I have been working on. It has been a full year since I started this thread and growing Capn style. I have been harvesting 12-16 ounces every month since march. (accept this month cause I killed that plant by accident (still smokeable ish though lol)) Right now I have 2 plants in flower and 4 in veg. Probably a couple more than I need, but they will be monsters when they do flower.. I will try to get some pictures tonight and upload them tomorrow..

Damn go4snypr, you've been killing it and not thinking we would love to follow this grow? Fire it up!!!:drool::adore::blunt:

Perpetual "Capn Style" :high-five::Namaste::circle-of-love:

I would advise against drilling holes in the res lid under the pot sites as roots will then find their way into the drink, then you'll end up with a true DWC with all the related problems. All that is needed is the single 6" hole on the front of the lid for access and drainage. All my Capn style grows had roots sneaking out of the bottoms of the pots anyways and wicking up the water off the res lid. If they would ever find their way to the source, I never would've had my 530 gram harvest.

Go4 Cap'n style is all but extinct on this forum -and that ain't right. Not to pressure you or anything- but imagine all the newbies who don't even know what cap'n style is and you are their only hope in this forum blah blah blah. Makes me want to order up a bin of croutons myself

What he said. :high-five:

Well, I will try to keep updating this post, especially if anyone has any questions. Like I say, with the new house I have been busy and really the grow is not mine, I am doing it at another house for a sick guy that has a license. He was growing for himself and gave up as it was too much work for him, but with Capn style I have eliminated lots of the work for him and I keep a close eye on things myself which make it that much easier on him. I took some pics yesterday but they are on buddies phone, as soon as I get around to it, I will upload my photos. Till then:peacetwo::tokin:

Well, I am a week late with pictures but here they are none the less. I took the pictures about a week ago, 1 in veg, 1 just starting flower, and 1 almost done. I will post more pics with a better camera later...

Nice Go4r. You're letting them grow nice and thick. Could be partly the foggy effect of the pics. My scrog is a bit like that too. The jungle stresses me out a bit at times, but as long as I never see mold it's all good.
What strains are those- looks like a bit of sativa in there?

The 2 in flower are both Pineapple chunk, and the one in veg I think was called Amnesia, it was a free seed. And yeah, the foggy effect of the pictures is from the scratched up lens on my cell phone. .lol.

Oh I see, not sativa then- pineapple chunk is what I'm growing some of too- and is exactly the part of my grow I was referring to as a jungle. Hard to see through the fog but the buds look great. How long does yours take to finish flowering? I'm into week twelve and will probably be 14 or so- same as the last couple rounds.

Not sure how long it takes, I quit watching the clock. It would just aggravate me when I had to wait longer lol. 14 weeks seems long though, when I pick my seeds I try to stick to shorter flower times 50-60 days. I will track the next one though and let you know.
