Glimmer Grows More Autos - Blue Dream - Amnesia & Dark Devil In Coco With MH/LEDs

Always great to chill that way gg! I love your girls, I think hey look great. How old are they now ?
How old is your garden now?;)

Hi, Camo and beast! Thanks so much -- they're just 5 weeks old now :)

Looking soooooo healthy. Nice one Glim :passitleft:

Thanks, WS!

Looking great Glimm! Are you going to use the plant spa pots this grow? So far the one im trying is working good. I have just been watering every 3-4 days in the bottom resevoir. Later

I've got one plant spa pot and I'm going to pop a new seed into once these girls have got a little further into flowering :) I'm glad to hear yours is doing well! I have a free seed: Canuck Seeds Auto Lemon Skunk that apparently grows one cola -- thought that might work well.

Looking great as always GG :goodjob:

Thanks, lexort!

I'm really falling behind with things in general. I seem to have been on vacation more or less continuously for the last two weeks -- I just can't get myself to really get to grips with the work I need to do. I feel super lazy, whether I medicate or not :) I meant to take photos yesterday or today of the girls but am finding it hard to get motivated.

But a package finally came through today (it had been held up in Customs since Dec 21) that perks me right up -- my colloidal silver ordered through Amazon.com from the States. It's really hard to get colloidal silver in Canada in any strength higher than 10 or 20 ppm -- this stuff is 240 ppm! I'll dilute it with distilled water to 60 ppm, as suggested in this thread by toker69 How to Make Feminized Seeds With Colloidal Silver - Sponsored by Intelligent-Gro LED One part of 240 ppm cs to three parts distilled water.

I'm going to try to produce some seeds from my autos -- should be fun!

So this is how you get all fem?

I totally understand the feeling of laziness lol i think the holidays zapped most peoples mental energy ya kno lol. I know you will be back on track soon enough. Positive vibes your way GG

So this is how you get all fem?

Hi, weedman! I'm a total beginner at this, but here's my understanding (and please, anyone, jump in and correct me so I'll learn):

Cannabis normally has two sexes -- the males produce pollen and the females produce seed. Because the females also produce tons of THC bearing flowers, they're the ones we want to harvest. In the old days (heh heh heh) the weed we bought usually had seeds in it, although it's long been recognized that the best, most potent buds are unfertilized and seedless.

Feminized cannabis seeds, as sold by seed banks, usually produce about 99% female plants, and save growers a lot of time and space and energy growing out the plants to the point you can sex them. To get them you need to make sure that both the pollen and the flowers come from female plants. Because colloidal silver interrupts the hormones of the developing flower on a female, she will develop pollen sacs instead on the treated flowering points. She is still genetically female, so her pollen is female. And unlike the pollen you can collect from plants that hermie due to stress or genetics, which can pass that trait on, the pollen produced from colloidal silver applications seems more stable.

In addition to producing feminized seeds, I want to produce seeds that will auto flower, because they're hella expensive :) So my goal is to treat one emerging bud site of each of my three strains to produce pollen, which I will use to pollinate one bud on each to give me some seeds. They will therefore self pollinate, if all works out, so I will have Auto Amnesia XXL seeds, Auto Blue Dream seeds and Auto Dark Devil seeds!

I hope!

Oh my heavens, I am so ZAPPED. That's the perfect word, lexort. Thank you for the positive energy -- I really need it! I mean, I can avoid work for a certain amount of time (being self employed) but the downside is that if I don't do the work I don't get paid and my business crashes because I don't really have anyone to kick my ass for me :)

Good vibes right back at you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

FIVE WEEK and two day UPDATE!

Here is my garden at 37 days from sprouting. I got all the girls out of the tent for their individual shots and I'm so glad I did. It's so much easier to appreciate them (and take care of them and inspect them) when you get a chance to handle each plant. I guess people who SOG/SCROG can't do this :) I didn't do it last grow and missed tons of stuff.

General observations: They love the tent, or, rather, love the fact that the environment they're growing in is so to their liking: warm, good light (not great, I don't have enough power for it to be great, but the tent helps make the most of what I do have), well-draining medium, adequate nutes given at usable pH. I notice how incredibly green and happy they are. I also really really love growing in coco coir. It's so simple (although I recognize that it may seem that way just because I've been lucky so far -- we alway learn more when things go wrong so I fear I'm missing out on some valuable learning experiences :)) I do want to try organic soil, because it's my preference when buying cannabis to buy organic, but I can't complain about the simplicity of coco coir/perlite and GH nutes.

AMNESIA XXL

I think she's beautiful. She has the tightest nodes, which really surprises me because she's the most sativa dominant strain I'm growing. But she's been absurdly vigorous right from seed and her enthusiasm for life is infectious. I really want to get some seeds from her because she's an amazing plant.

I'm treating one small, lower bud site with colloidal silver on each plant. Here's the site on the Amnesia right after spraying/soaking with the 60 ppm solution. I have a little cardboard shield I use to protect the rest of the plant when I'm spraying, I'll get a shot of that tomorrow or the next day. I also use a twist of brightly coloured wire to mark which site I'm spraying :)

And here are two of the developing flowers at the top of the plant:

BLUE DREAM AUTO

A very attractive plant. She was the smallest seed (tiny, really) but is a good looking girl and seems really happy. A favourite strain, so I can't wait to try her!

AUTO DARK DEVIL

This one makes my heart go pitty pat :) SHE IS TURNING PURPLE, GUYS! It's so exciting! The folks over at the Dark Devil thread told me it would be noticeable as flowering starts and today is the first day I've really seen it!

PURPLING BUDS!

And here's the nepeta cataria project: still on their first set of real leaves (the ones I thought were the first real set are actually clearly cotyledons). Slow growing compared to cannabis, which just comes roaring out of the seed (guess that's the weed part) ... when the catnip seedlings get a bit bigger I will pot up and give them some space!

I wish you all a great year in your homes, gardens and lives!

I think you nailed it with the Fem seed question Glimm. You are going to create some cool new crosses. Im sure they will be the bomb too. That is some high powered colloidal silver ya got there lol. It should last a long time with the dilution.;)
