GiGaBaNE's 4th - HydroGanics 600w HiD + Flouro

truth be told i dont have much of a choice anyway...one down side to my method is there is no way to water or flush the plants without ruining the transition layer, leeching out all the nutrients and having to swap out the entire res oO

all i can do with this method is add liquid organic ferts to the maximum absorption rate of the soil and not a drip more....or i really will face all the ph problems normally accosiated with hydro

well i feel compelled to chime in, i have done a few grows in soil, coco, and mixtures thereof ph was something i fussed with endlessly in my first few indoor soil and more so with straight coco, but as i have evolved i devolved to using organic nutes in a coco heavy mixture of soil i concocted after much research and trial and error, the last few have been the best yet i have not ph tested at all i built the soil to have buffers gypsum and epsoma garden lime mainly, i have have no ph issues either no nute burn (organics) i feed strong nute/microbe teas regularly provide massive amounts of minerals azomite is amazing, i think a good soil/medium balanced well in the begining is all i have needed look at my journal and tell me if you think im having any ph issues i dont think so but i could be wrong, im days/hours from harvest ,i have not nor will i ph (barring the new hydro buckets of course) im not trying to disagree with anyone but i think the right balance and using organics make ph a non issue at least for me the last few rounds anyway:peace::Namaste:

I think sticking to this is how I've actually managed to get a 100% success rate on my first grow.

Well said my darling ;)

but unless my plants tell me its an emergency...im not altering anything.

Giga, yoo hoo! :ciao:

Where is the babble bollocks thread you promised me? (well, us actually :))

I cannot be held responsible for making a mess of this thread if you don't give me my own Fluffy Mess Place! :blalol:

And if that Fish Cake person gets involved, you just know it will be irretrievable :yikes:

Love ya Sir Fish Cake :)

thanks guys...extra thanks BiD!
the way you handle your soil is very close to how i want to do mine. only thing ive added at the moment is perlite for 1st gen to see how it goes. i suppose im trying to 'feel' my way along as much as taking scientific measurements. im as much partof the learning proccess as the plants are, i need to get used to my chosen soil and its little quirks e.t.c

i am hoping its good right out of the bag as any sort of pre mixing on a massive scale is a nightmare.
sigh....bloody azomite. i so love the idea of that material, but im having a crisis of conscience. its a non renuable thats going to vanish faster the more people get into it. im hoping to upgrade my seaweed to a 'sea grown' seaweed, that should hopefully contain all the minerals needed to substitute azomite and its rival.

im pretty certain that if i start making home compost to mix with my organic soil, i can manipulate things like PH based on the materials i use to compost.

ive been tempted to test things like orange juice to add acid and fructose and ill get round to it.
the reason i want to go down this path is to aftificially set up conditions that i can replicate naturally.

i.e companion growing of weed in a citrus orchard with comfrey growing in the gaps between.

i know my current method has flaws but its part of a bigger plan that can only be achieved with lots of time and money.

Where is the babble bollocks thread you promised me?
Ignore my first post... as per usual my starting plans bear little reseblance to reality
Just chat all the shit you want in here now. the *new* plan is to make a fifth and final journal at some point later, but unlike all my previous threads, im going to cheat and run the journal in secret offline. and then post the lot in a single sitting so that any chat can come afterwards. =D

just a litle update.
im still not entirely organised, but i managed to build myself a little 80w 4 light array for vegging and as soon as i can fund the creation of a 2nd ill be soaking my next seeds.

not only is this array now saving me 520w per hour over my sodium, it will probably do a much better job of growing them as quickly as possible.

im now running 16-8, but doing it manually with my phone alarm telling me when to on and off
gonna try my best not to defoliate my old plants and when i switch to my sodium again ill flower the lot at 12-12 with my autos just to clean out my grow room and only have many plants of 1 strain. there is nothing stopping me ordering breeding stocks later for hybriding.

im so furious right now!
ages ago i ordered 8 cfls of the 6500k type. The company took well over a month to deliver them after many phone calls and excuses they finally arrived...i went up to look at my plants today and thought they looked a little yellow compared to my other lamp, so i dug the boxes out of the trash and low and behold...they are bloody 2700k's
called him up and the guy is clueless. he is calling the manufacturer now for some reason oO

in short folks...dont buy from
Lyon Lighting Ltd

lol yeah i was furious!
it seems to be resolved tho. he claimed the manufacturer sent them as a substitue due to lack of stock...how the hell can a lightbulb maker be short of providing me with a humble 8 bulbs...said they will be with me by wednesday...i do hope so as i soak my next 20 seeds on friday.

6400k bulbs are gold dust around here...just cant get em anyhere but online =(

Hey, I've been lurking on here for awhile and read through your other mad scientist-like grows and I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. Good luck!

thanks friend, welcome =D

i guess ill post a few more pics

Looking good. I wish I had space like that. I'm gonna have to set up some sort of mini grow until I'm in a bigger place. This all depends on convincing the wife to let me grow a couple plants. Lol. I think she assumes I'm out to start a farm rather than just enough to where I don't have to pay for bud anymore.

well, my space proves you can grow a lot of bud in a space as small as a single bed. as to the missus, not much i can say there friend, i wouldnt think of offering advice on that as i would accept none when it comes to my own partner.

however..all women like to shop or save....some simple arythmatic on paper can do wonders to help ones cause;)

for example.
a seed £2
100 days of electric for 100 watts@ 20hrs per day aprx £20
possible yield maybe 20g (based on sweet fast bud #2)

so you have to buy 20g in £10 bags=£200

she can buy a decent pair of new shoes for the difference
