GG7's Indoor/Outdoor Grows!

Weekend Update II
The Outdoor Grows

OK... Today I wanted to just post a series of photos of the various plants out back in the natural summer sun with perhaps a few side-by-side flashbacks thrown in!

Plant progress report:

I'm pleased to report that all of the plants are doing great, but I am still waiting for those seed plants to show sex! They are all getting pretty big back there at this point, but not a sign of a pollen node forming, or pistals!

Now, ON WITH THE SHOW!

I think I will start off with the photos of those various seed plants. How about a before and after comparison in rapid succession?

Another Urkle after a similar procedure. This strain LOVES to stretch, so I am learning how to tame that instinct and make them bush out instead

Purple Urkle Original Clone #2 and White Rhino 2 side by side on the back hill. As I mentioned earlier, none of these seed plants including Rhino 2 have shown the slightest hint of sex yet. Getting a little annoyed by that actually.

Urkle Original Clone #1. No sign of any slowing down in growth with these two originals. Both original Urkle clones are now well over 4 feet tall, along with Rhino 2. I am hoping that the pot size will eventually stop them from growing to huge before a natural flower cycle this fall.

And last but not least...

For the folks that may have missed or been unaware of my GDP Clones Start to Finish thread, here are the latest GDP progress shots, including GDP #2 now flowering in the Bloom Room!

And there ya have it folks! The latest news that is fit to print!

A week from today I plan to start my SECOND Turbo Klone T48 cloning session! This time we are going to be cloning our coveted GDP strain along with our popular Blue Cheese!

I will close this post with the latest photo of our revegging Blue Cheese plant as she takes in the morning sun.

Stay tuned for our next update soon!

Have a great weekend everyone! :thumb:

Northern Lights

I ordered twelve Northern Lights seeds and twelve White Rhino seeds from one of the more well known Dutch seed stores. Unfortunately, when I planted them a few weeks ago, only a few ever germinated. None of the White Rhino seeds ever germinated and of the NL seeds that did sprout over half of them were deformed in some way. I suspect that the seeds passed through an X-Ray scanner or Microwave beam somewhere along their long journey from Holland. That radiation either killed them outright, or screwed up their DNA enough to cause mutations.. The online source I purchased these from was kind enough to give me a full refund.

I kept tending to the sprouts that looked normal or close to normal and picked out all but two of the deformed ones. I figured I would keep these two alive to see what kind of bizzare forms they assume as they grow older.

:MoreNutes:

I had some beans do that before as well... Some of them came out of it eventually but it took quite a while.....turned out alright in the end but they were the runts.

Thanks for the info! :thumb:

Yeah... I'm just letting them do whatever until I know if there are any females in the bunch. Still can't tell although several "look" male to me already.

Since they are outside, it isn't any trouble and since I got a full refund on these seeds, its all good either way at this point! ;)

Cheers and thanks for checking in!

Hey bro, what kinds of insects and are there a lot to deal with outside, I grew outside but I was a kid really and I dont remember specifics..

Subscribed! Will (attempt to) read all the posts in your thread before posting.

Knock on Wood... We haven't really had any problem with insects here. Had some problems with White Fly on our Jalapeño crop last year, but no problems this year, and never any critter problems with the Cannabis. :)

iGS-15 Flex-Timer Deloyment Photos

Yesterday we finally received and installed our new 72 Hour Flex-Timer from PlugNGrow that will allow us to run flowering cycles in the Bloom Room beyond the traditional 24 hour limit. The following is a portion of the post I just made to my 14/12 Thread.

----------------------------------------------------------------

I am pleased to report that the iGS-15 is performing wonderfully so far! We even had a power outage earlier this morning that the device reported on, and even logged the duration! The system was still in dark mode at the time, but either way the 15 is programmed to resume its schedule as once the power was restored, which it did for me.

As promised, here are the photos of the installation. I took a shot of each settings phase of the device and will explain what each does. Kind of an odd UI, but once you figure it out, it isn't that bad.

Photo of the iGS-15 controller as well as the iGS-25 Wall Power Component which is also included in the package, along with a power adapter for the 25 and a CAT-5 Cable for interfacing the 15 to the 25.

WOW!!!!!!! them are some great lookin plants Goldengoose7 your going to have some sore fingers trimming all that bud when the time comes fried to rep wont let me yet that bud looks good in the wild :Namaste: :)

Very nice. I too live in a high altitude climate, so your grow is very interesting to me. Think I will stick around and watch your journal, if you don't mind.

Thanks

Turbo Klone Session #1 - Final Update
Life After Transplant

I kind of wanted to close out this cloning session report with some closing comments and another round of recent photos of the newly transplanted clones.

These shots were taken 24 hours after the plants were originally transferred from the cloner into soil/pots. One immediate difference between the clones produced by the T48 and my previous attempts with Rockwool was that the T48 produced clone were far more robust and healthy looking!

As kind of an experiment yesteday, I moved the majority of the new clones out from under the patio area and into direct sun from about 11AM to 5PM. They handled these hours of direct summer sunlight and 80+ degree heat without complaint! Not a single drooping leaf or hint of wilt! Newly minted clones are traditionally still somewhat delicate, even with roots, so this robust behavior outdoors as if they had always done so was notable! A VERY pleasing side effect of the cloner I guess? The fact that they were cut from plants that were living outdoors? Not sure, but I'll take it! :high-five:

I could have NEVER expected that from one of my Rockwool clones, even a solid week after transplanting!

And now on to the photos...

"BBK" stands for Blueberry Kush and "URKLE" for Purple Urkle

The pots used range from 5 gallon all the way down to 1 gallon. The smaller pots will keep those clones from growing too fast and give me some time to catch up with this frenzied growing season! :phew:

And lets not forget the old Blueberry Growing Tip that was dipped and Rockwooled nearly 7 weeks ago! It is just now starting to grow! This HUGE Amount of waiting for roots is what lead me to the Turbo Klone in the first place!

Even though this cutting took forever to finally root and start growing, at least it is the actual growing tip of the original BBK #2 that is in the Bloom Room, so it should make for a nice Blueberry Mother plant in a few months, don't ya think? :yahoo:

One last question I had for everyone following this...

Do you think folks would find this whole cloning session report a helpful guide? I was thinking of maybe making a new thread that just contained the clone session entries from this broader scoped journal.

What do you think? Also.... Where would I put a guide like this on here? Is there a place for HOW TO GUIDES done by users? I guess I will go looking.

Thanks in advance! :)

Absolutely! I am cloning mine also and can always use some help. I think I just get lucky most of the time with them, but I hate it when one doesn't make it and I have to put it in the compost pile. It just kills me.

Thanks
Kat :thankyou:

Welcome to my Grow Journal Kat! Glad you found it and have decided to stick around! I've got lots going on around here as you can see! :)

Looking forward to reading more comments from you in the future! The more the merrier around here as far as we are all concerned!

Speaking of which....

Plant of the Month Contest a CLOSE RACE!

FHey bro, everything you do is really nicee, caan I ask you , when you take cuttings how much stem,do they have, is it easier you think to clone a two inch cutting, than it is a five inch? Or does it not matter.also wwhen you take cuttings but arent ready to root em is there a way to make em last? Ive had about thirty cuttings sitting in a bucket for like a week now..they are ok but I dont think theyll last..but it does seem that as long as they sit in the water theyre ok..and I have to saythat turbo cloner looks likethe lamborghini of cloners..bad ass

Hello again KDog! :welcome:

When preparing to clone a plant, I try to pick branches that have THREE nodes on them. Since the roots always seem to emerge from the NODE and not the 45 degree sliced end of the cutting, I choose branches that are about 6 inches long down to the bottom node. I then slice that bottom node in half with either garden scissors or a razor blade and leave about 1/4 inch of additional stem cut at 45 a degree angle below that point.

Here are two photos of one of those cutttings after it has rooted from that split node:

Here is my plan for the next cloning session with the T48, slated for Monday August 1st, 2011.

Strains: Grand Daddy Purple & Blue Cheese *

Number of Cuttings: Five of each strain

Cloning Gel on Cuttings?: YES. Will leave cuttings in T48 with coating of Clonex clone gel for approx 1 hour before turning on the pump for the first time. This allows the gel to penetrate the plant before the majority gets washed away and into the cloner's water reservour.

Additives to reservour?: YES. Last time I didn't add anything to the water in the cloner until the end of week #1, but this time I am going to add 6 TBSP of Clonex Cloning Solution to the 4.5 gallon reservour of the T48 from day one and see if this speeds up the process.

As soon as root buds appear, I will add Home & Garden Roots Excelurator to the reservour to help speed up root spike development leading up to day where the cuttings will have enough root spikes to be considered official clones, and be transplanted into soil immediately.

The last session ended on Day #15 with 100% rooting of all clones in the Machine. I might be able to shave a few days off that total with the Clonex in there from day 1.

I have to saythat turbo cloner looks likethe lamborghini of cloners..bad ass

You won't get any argument from me on that claim! :thumb:

Not only is it a very well built and throughtfully designed product, the level of customer service I received from the "Owner" of the company when my pump failed was nothing short of 5-Star! He didn't have to send me TWO replacement pumps (80 bucks each retail) with one as a piece of mind backup, NOR a complete fresh set of Polypropeline collars (20 bucks retail), but they did, and they arrived here within 2 days of my original warranty claim email via UPS 2nd Day Air!

I've got nothing but great things to say about those guys! The 420 guys should contact them about becoming a sponsor here! They would fit right in with their great company philosophy, helpful nature and killer products!

* The Blue Cheese we will be cloning this coming Monday is the same plant that is currently entered in the July POTM contest. It has revegged nicely over the last 6 weeks, and although it bears little resemblance to the plant it was before harvest, it now has that picture perfect profile of a productive MOTHER PLANT, perfect for taking cuttings from!

Wow great info thanks bro..theres a single blade leaf thread , ya know how they go through that funky stage when they revegg..im gonna have to direct him here..would you say light change is the only reason they go down in number of blades as they grow..i revegged a plant but the branches were very thin and scragaly, lack of better word, the buds were crazy looking..my question on that is...should I have taken the thin branches and cloned those would the thin branch turn Into a regular plant or is it better to wait till i finishes going through a funk?...how long does itusualy taketo go back to normal growth..

That mother plant looks like it will give you many children is that barneys blue cheese it looks great. i noticed you said you wouldn't enter any other contests I think you should enter every one you have a lot to offer here at 420 and thxs for your dedication to this one :Namaste: :)

When I harvested this 28" tall BC originally, I cut the main stalk down about 2/3rds leaving about 10 inches of main stem in the pot along with a few fan leaves, and some popcorn buds.

Week 1 After Harvest

The plant was left to do its own thing outside, come what may. I fed it with GROW BIG on the same schedule as all the other plants out back and gave it a good sun location. It did the rest and is just about perfect now for cuttings!

Week 4 & 6 Respectively
P1010878.JPG

P10109901.JPG

Those remaining buds have since grown out with some pretty BIG pistal pods and odd looking leaves. Most still have trichomes on them if you can believe that!

Check out this photo I just took of a few of those:

P1011010.JPG

I tend to take cuttings from the bottom of the plant, but ultimately, I try to find ones that have a straight growing tip that won't be all bent over and funny in the cloner. I'm debating whether to chop the growing tip off of GDP #3 and add that to the session, since I prefer to top most of my plants before flowering them.

Thanks Papatater!

This plant came from "Medicinal Organic Nursery" seed stock. Not sure if it is related to the Barney's variety or not. I've never seen a photo of the Barney's version on the day of harvest, so no way to compare.

One thing is pretty clear to most growers and Cannabis fans around here... This BC strain is one impressive looking lady at harvest time both in physical appearance as well as producing some of the most kickass bud I have ever grown or ever bought... PERIOD!

I am totally LOVING this stuff throgh my VaporBros HandsFree Vaporizer! Smoother than the store bought GDP I had been using, and twice the punch, but not in a bad way. I feel like I have taken a couple of Percocets after a couple of good drags off this stuff! Very Narcotic in its effects! :thumb

:yahoo::adore:

As for the contests...I am VERY competitive and my doctor has warned me about getting involved in things that can bring that out and raise my BP and stress level. That was why I was hessitant to enter this contest to start with. My doctor would KILL ME if he knew I had entered a contest! :laughtwo:

Besides my own personality defects... I don't have anything worthy of the POTM contest for at least another couple of months. Perhaps the NUG of the Month, but the bud would be from the same BC plant entered in the POTM! :hmmm: Can you do that?

All looking great here. Growing under the sun is the best! I'm afraid of doing that, around here ppl can see my backyard it'll be gone the next day lol.

Sorry that I missed this post of yours Twelve!

Thanks for checking in!

Yep! The sun is definitely the way to go if you have a situation that would lend itself to an outdoor grow.

That's too bad that you can't grow out in your own yard! Our yard is set back way off the road, so you have to trespass onto our property a ways to even get back there. I or my surveillance cameras will definitely see ya coming! :laughtwo:

WELL!!!!!!!!! i think its a messin messin shame you would think they would have bigger
fish to fry your plants sure are looking great and that lucy is rockin it :adore: :Namaste:
