They're looking great GDB! I remember you growing Black Domina before, clearly it was memorable enough to grow again. But Pinkman Goo and Grape Ape, are they new to you? I look forward to more of your excellent smoke reports on them.

Nope, this is my first time growing BlkDom, Stunger. (though I do have a clone of one going in one of my other grows).

In fact, Smoothie is the only strain I've grown twice. Other than that one, I'm always trying a new (to me) strain with each new grow! And that's easy to do with so many hybrid strains available these days.

The next one I'll repeat is GG4 (Original Glue) because it's straight fire and I think I can do better than I did with the first one!

Thanks for your attention. :Rasta:

Well heck, I'll blame that on the weed!

Yep that's true, there are masses of new strains these days. Funny how a few decades ago everything would've been landrace.

Who is the breeder/supplier of that one? Always good to know, cheers.

Here you go, Stunger, from the source!

Hello growers.

It's Flip + 66 for the Express Grow.

(WARNING: A Rather Wordy Post Ahead.)

The girls are pretty much approaching the descent path now and there's not a lot to report. Though I will say that at the rate the Grape Ape is laying waste to leaves, she may end up being my easiest trim ever. :Rasta:

I'm not sure what to attribute this too. I mean usually my plant's leaves are ugly as hell at the end. But in almost every instance it's been due (I thought) to my haphazard approach to applying bug-killing stuff and not returning to rinse it off when necessary (Out of frustration for having to battle them repeatedly). This time there have been no bug-killing sprays. Due to the effectiveness of constant doses of SNS 209 and maybe the insect frass soil amendment I haven't seen a critter.

So I wonder if both the GA and the Black Domina, to some degree, just wanted more MC. Or if perhaps, this brown-fest is a delayed reaction to my giving them some EasyWeed a little while back. Or if there's something else that I just haven't figured out about how to handle them at this stage in their growth. :hmmmm:

I have to feed them tonight at lights-on and I'll post a pic.

With that said, let me talk about something that's related to what's to become of some of these plants.

I've piddled around with quite a few gummy recipes lately trying to find a Lazy Man's version that I like.

I've got it now! :yahoo:

And please understand that providing clear explanations is not my forte. Mrs. GDB can true 'dat. But here goes:

I use the following gear:

Plastic measuring cup
Pyrex measuring cup
Plastic-coated whisker
Big Pot of Water

I use these ingredients:

Cold fruit juice
6 oz. box of flavored gelatin (Jello, Welch's or Starburst - all with sugar)
4 tblspns of unflavored gelatin
1/2 tsp of sunflower lecithin

I guess I should say here -- if I am to "clearly explain" -- that this recipes presumes that you have already-prepped infused coconut oil on hand. (More on the oil in a bit.)

Fill a big pot of water to a level that it will cover most of the pyrex cup. Heat the water to a boil and then turn down to a simmer.

Pour 1/2 cup of the cold fruit juice into the Pyrex cup.

Next add the gelatins (both) and whisk periodically over the next 8 minutes to get them smoothly mixed.

During this time, use the plastic measuring cup to get 1/2 cup of infused oil. And begin to heat the oil in the microwave. (I usually do two 30-second zaps while the gelatin is getting mixed.)

After getting the gelatin mixed, take the pyrex cup and sit it in the simmering water and whisk it some more. (There's a lot of whisking in this recipe. :))

Keep whisking it for a few minutes, making sure the water in the pot is near a boil, but not boiling.

Next pour 1/2 tsp of lecithin into the warmed infused oil, stir it up well and zap it again in the microwave for 20-30 seconds.

Take the infused oil out and let it cool down just a bit (maybe for a minute or two) and then pour it into the gelatin mix. And, then guess what? Whisk, whisk, whisk.

Whisk the infused gelatin until you get a smooth consistency and color, with no off-color stuff floating on top of the oil.

The trickiest part of this recipe is getting the nearly full, hot cup of infused gelatin out of the pot of water. It's accomplished easily enough using a couple of pot holders. But be careful and take your time!

I take the mix out to where the gummy molds are set and, you guessed it, whisk some more. I whisk it to help cool it off and, more importantly, until the pyrex cup is cooled off enough to pick up bare-handed (usually about 3-5 minutes.)

The mix is then ready to be poured into the molds. Again, take you time! Especially the first few pours.

Once poured, just put the molds in the fridge. In 40 minutes or so they will set.

(Oh, and always put the molds on a cutting board or something similar in order to get them into the fridge without making a mess of things.)

Here are the pics:

My molds poured. Pouring began top right and I missed! :laughtwo:

And after those 3 were filled I had a little left. So I used a smaller mold that I have to handle that. Moving down in mold size also assures that I'll miss or over-pour! :laughtwo:

After about an hour in the fridge I take out the finished product, put them in a plastic container and back into the fridge.
45 and 14 gummies.jpg

Mine will never come out clear or translucent because the oil I use is such a darkish green.

The oil used for these was made in the @Magical Butter Machine. I cooked it for 8 hours at 130 degrees, let it rest overnight, and the next day cooked it again for 8 hours at 160 degrees. I then jarred it and stored it in the fridge for future use.

Because I have a glut of weed, I don't use larf or "shake" for my infused oils. I use %100 trich-laden buds and leave all the other plant parts for pain balm. I don't know how strong my gummies are but I do know they sometimes make me get my wobble on! :laughtwo:

And the few geezers who usually stop by and smoke my stuff for free, well guess what? They're actually reaching for their wallets for gummies. Unfriggin' believable!

Best of all, I have two close friends who are living a painful existence due to age and ailments. And they have been so relieved to have these, saying they somewhat mitigate the pain and, more importantly, have improved their ability to sleep.

That's a win for me!:yahoo:

I hope you all found this interesting and "clearly explained." :Rasta:

Peace.

Jeez- if I tried to do that, I'd have more gummy mix on the counters than in the mold...

A squirt bottle makes that step a bit easier...and in my case, a lot less messy...:p

Didn't your weed leaf moulds come with eyedroppers to fill them?

It get's easy as the volume in the cup goes down! I used to use some little basters but I honed my pouring skills to speed things up. :)

Yes, I said, "Honed my pouring skills"!

The "miss" that's pictured is no where near as sloppy as they used to be. :laughtwo:

Please share what you do differently Mel! I'm not dead-set on this way if there's a better way. :Rasta:
I put the Jello, 1 packet of gelatin, lecithin, and 3/4 tbsp citric acid right in the pot with 1/2 cup water and whisk it over heat until it all dissolves. Then add 1/3 cup infused coconut oil and whisk it for 5 min to make sure it's fully incorporated, and then fill the moulds.
I don't use fruit juice, or do the double boiler thing, I'm too lazy

I've got a recipe too, but I think you already have it?
Yes I do Carcass. You gave it to me a while ago. It was/is a good one! :Rasta:

Didn't your weed leaf moulds come with eyedroppers to fill them?
Mel, I'm not sure. I know one set of these molds that I own came with some syringe-like things and I used to use them. But it takes so long with those that I decided to learn to become better at decanting. :)
