Gator's Cage

Re: Gators' Cage

53 days, they must be getting close but...
Top colas still swell with floret bursts. Calyxes follow. When is enough?
Each trichome node has its' own cycle. New bud parts are forming.
I fear the unseen centers of these colas, yet the fan blows and they grow.

Suddenly being held captive wouldn't be so bad! Now just what do I make a bowl out of??:)

Re: Gators' Cage

Excellent!

Those are some great looking girls! Still nice and green for 53 days. I'm at 47 days and they are starving for N. I always seem to let them yellow too early...I hope they don't drop all their leaves before their peak. Oh well.

Anyway, I can't wait to see your results! Take it easy Propa-G!!:peace:

Re: Gators' Cage

Center maelstrom of fan leaf fingers reach inward, to burn on the light
Shade me? Shade thee! It's real competition, the cage encloses the fight
"Take a little out there, can't you girls just share?" Watch out Gator, these ladies bite
With scissors in hand I'll make them understand their destiny: buds trimmed up right!

Well put as always!!

Re: Gators' Cage

They are loving the extra T5's. Looks like your gonna have a new weight to try and beat the next go around the cage. Always a pleasure to read through your updates Gator!

:bravo:

Thankyou gentlemen, for you attention
To share with you is my intention
Application of my invention
Cannabis grown in a cage

I saw the concept on the net
An 'Ah Hah!' moment, made me bet
Limited resource, a bid to get
Ample, quality medicine

Yup, I wouldn't be trying to break out of that cage, lol.
Maya Anjelou also speaks to me: Caged Bird

The other side met darkness tonight. They were uneven to start, and over-vegged. I topped 6 at 12", to match the runts.

If they get too rambunctious, I may whack them with Bushmaster.

Re: Gators' Cage

The 'other' is not yet plumbed, and has been fertigated, or watered on a lax schedule. Two or three days. I say this because: while mildly embarrassing, the plants have grown vigorously. I've pushed this envelope not intentionally, but also not detrimentally. When I recommend feeding seedlings or young cut starts once, then leaving them alone, I'm serious. Too much 'love', is not love at all.
The roots of these are dense already, to and through the bottle necks. A different drain arrangement is on order. My other half; the ambitious, industrious Propa will need to fetch PVC parts from HoDePo. Gator's a dreamer schemer who's all too happy to stay planted in my chair. Drinking tea.
This run will get a pump and timer, I hope. Propa has been avoiding me while I've played StarCraft: bunkered heat works neat on mindless, bloody zerglings.
Tossers get nuked; Gator knows what's good for them!! :MoreNutes:

The nearly ready crop still pops new bursts of stamens. I think that the T5s are worthy, Mr Sun. :adore: I got them based on your opinion. They've been on the job for three weeks, today. They've earned their place; they can stay.

Re: Gators' Cage

I pamper them too much, so I know what you're saying.

Can't wait to see your upgrade, as soon as you run into Propa, of course, lol.

Glad you like the T5's. The planets lined up on that one. Not only on the watts/lumens, but the reflector design throws a bright, wide and even beam. It draws an honest 110w, as rated, unlike the 200w monster CFL bulb I checked recently that drew 50w, and was half as bright, go figure ;).

I'm going to be running some watt/intensity numbers soon on lots of stuff, and I'll include the T5.

I'm still curious about a couple of 4' four-tube T5's or T8's vertically on the sides with remote ballasts if necessary, and two of the PL-L T5's overhead.

Now there's a system that would lend itself to sitting there stoned and looking at your plants, lol.

Re: Gators' Cage

I went back to page one and reread your grow journal.
You have skills and this was an informative read.
Much respect to you Propa!
:peace:

Re: Gators' Cage

Looks as if they have a couple weeks to go at least!
My nightmare/wetdream.
8 weeks, yo girls! You see the clock? It is ticking me off!
Love to have you stay forever, but it's time to go.
I pray your cage's weather forecast calls for 10% humidty :surf:

Those women are swelling up :thanks:
Running down to the box store for a dehumidifier is not an option.
Window AC drips and wheezes. It tries, but effort falls short here.
Cutting them now might leave room to exceed my yield record, next crop ;)
Might also save me from total loss. Room service rejects my request for 10%.

These cuttings from topping, 36 hours ago have no humidity dome, nor have they been sprayed:

Buds are looking delicious!

Plants look very healthy too.

Nice and green for being this far along.
I think the CMHs' output contributes to the green vigor. Base nutes also help.

I re-read through this jourrnal too. Its' purpose is to demonstrate a repeatable process. Not art, but science. I love to bust grow myths, but big buds please me more. My grow 'chops' are mostly intuition and common sense. I want for anyone who cares, to benefit from my experience. Take a little bit or all. That's what I do, even from my own
Thanks Joe, for your flattering compliment and respect.

Early harvests can be a sorrow.

Have you tried Craigslist, local trading papers, and hitting yard sales? Sometimes people will buy a dehumidifier without understanding how they work, then - when they get them home and turn them on - discover that they blow hot air out the back. So they buy an a/c and dump the dehumidifier.

Might also save me from total loss. Room service rejects my request for 10%.

OtOH, if it's a choice between harvesting bud with immature trichomes and a total loss... I see your point.

10% RH is nice, but I wonder how important it is in certain environments? For example, if it's really hot and the humidity is really low, the plant is going to transpire more. If that plant has dense buds, such transpiration might make mold even more likely than if the same plant had a slightly higher RH-environment to begin with and used (& transpired) less moisture.

^^^^^Pure guesswork and conjecture, lol^^^^^

BtW, have you measured the temperature differential between the input and output of your existing a/c? Even if the output is not as cold as you would like, it should still be substantially colder than the air that's going in. If it is not, mayhap the unit just needs to spend 12 hours hooked up to a vacuum pump and then recharged and/or the cooling fins/etc. cleaned?

These cuttings from topping, 36 hours ago have no humidity dome, nor have they been sprayed

Humidity domes and spraying are overrated. All it takes is to allow a cutting to completely wilt before dealing with it and then watch it stand right back up again after it is dealt with to realize that they are capable of drawing moisture up through the stem as long as there is still an "open wound" and no air-bubble.

Personally, I think that such "encouraging" treatment of cuttings can, at times, be detrimental and that the biggest reason that there are so many cloning "aids" is that the retailers like to make sales. Good for you!

Hope that whenever you decide to harvest, that your buds are free from mold, as strong as they can be, and produce the affect that you're looking for.
