Gardenfaerie Outdoor Organic Summer 2014 Flux and LST in Ground

should be able to see webs first. there really tiny but yeah u can see them. under the leaves where they build webs.
and once u get them might well kill the plants. but there is something that you can buy to get rid of them but hard to do also.
least that what I been told , never actually had them before.

I can't see them, but you may. They are about half the size of the head of a straight pin (the old fashioned kind with a metal top). They are considered micro. If you see webs, you have a major infestation. Dennise knows the exact kind of SNS to buy for spider mites.

Can spider mites be seen with just the naked eye or does it take a loupe ? :peace:
Granny I can't see them without my loupe and I found them way before they starting webbing and was able to get rid of them with SNS217 and SNS203 I think is the numbers but it is rosemary extract basically and it works amazingly well. My AK flux got them bad but she is back to looking pretty good to have been so covered in them......:circle-of-love:

No photos or video, but I did spray the plants with BtK, and again this morning I went out and found only one caterpillar on one of the colas.

That means there are more, but it was dead in the bud. I also watered with the phosphorous and potassium which I simply cannot believe came delivered to me by USPS Mail YESTERDAY on a Sunday, because I have Prime. Wow. We thought for sure that was a typo, but not, it came yesterday. I'm going to keep the Prime membership.

I'll have a video or photos later or tomorrow. C'mon trichome production.

The first sign of spider mites is usually 'speckled' leaves. this is from the little buggers sucking out the chlorophyll from the leaves. If you have serious infestation you will start seeing their webbing 'tenting' the tops and the little buggers running through the webbing. If you got tenting it basically too late for plant, can not be recovered from IMO.

You can sometimes see little moving 'specks' underneath the leaves, but in general to see the actual mites need little microscope or loupe.

This year we have encountered the russet mite. I don't think I have em, but folks are cryin like crazy. This season most locals are using spinosad for worms........my grow is very much free of bugs...my stickies are only showing 5 bugs in a 24 hour period, and none of em scare me...LOL. A lucky run for me I guess, I've been spraying the spinosad at 5 day intervals since the beginning of august.......no sign of worms yet! Peace kids!

I do not thnk you been lucky, just proactive, if anything it acts as a repellent. I been using predator mites proactivly and yet to find an infestation, a few stragglers here and there, but VERY low numbers.

It really does have a great deal to do with the plant health, soil health, etc. My plants have heat stress, but face it, it's been over 100 for a month. At least we are cloudy and may get rain in the days to come.

Bt is perfectly adequate for worms, so that's all I use. I try to only target the exact pest I have instead of using more of a broad spectrum. Actually, Spinosad is derived from a strain of actinomycetes, the white threadlike structures found in compost piles, decaying leaf piles, etc. I wonder now if that is why compost tea is so effective to move or actually eliminate a fire ant mound. The microbes. Ah, the microbes.

I pulled one of my WWxBBs out of the ground. It is hanging upside down and I will wash it later and get it trimmed up. It was being shaded by the other plant and I didn't like the way it looked. I still have three plants out there so it should be okay. I just checked on them and they look like they are okay. Tick tock.

Winding down with the outies...can't wait. I need some work done, the trim on the house painted, the satellite dish needs addressing, this and that. I'll have all done in time for spring where I will once again try outside in the greenhouse, but will use autos instead of torturing myself. Next summer, I'll put plants out in late June I start inside under lights and slowly bring the light down, those will not be autos. That's the plan, but shit happens...here are my outies, what's left. I pulled the WWxBB, trimmed and washed. Those are drying now. I'll have that report asap.

Thank you, Les. I fertilized on Monday using the stuff you FORCED me to buy! hahaha. I am also happy. I have to say, I got the plants right in time. You harangued me on the right day and I looked on the right day, found the worms, sprayed, and I believe that is that. I'll probably spray one more time using BtK if I still have a few weeks to go. I will check later, but I am definitely seeing a lot of amber now. I just want the newer flowers to start to goo up a little before I cut it all down.

at least another week...maybe two.
