G13xHaze-Fem ScrOG

thanks guys, heres DAY 36. I started training today. In the next day or two I'm gonna go and get a smaller screen and set it over the existing one. Any suggestions of what or where to get them?

Great setup you have there, and, with all the room you should get monster plants!!

Just wondering if raising the screen would be better, would it actually make a substantial difference?

true, just a thought. On a few of the girls, their lower branches are just now starting to touch the screen. I'll take pics in a few days. Im flushing next watering. Theyve taken full nutes for the past 3 feedings with no sign of burn. Im sure they're ready for some refreshing plain water.

thx butcher, hey guys I noticed that there were little white specks in the water in the catch tray. it looked like there moving around, like little maggots. I'm a lil worried about it. No harm to the plants YET, but if they are some kind of insect what should I do. Anyone know what those little maggot things are and what to do about them?

ok I found this from High Times i think. Those little white things are fungus gnats. I need to go out and get some organic insecticide.

ROOT APHIDS & FUNGUS GNATS

I have always been led to believe that the black root aphids discussed in CC #55 are one of the life stages for fungus gnats. They are a real problem for me, and due to the restrictions on pesticides here in BC, very hard to combat. I tried pyrethrum-based treatments, but they always returned.

A botanist who runs a gardening business told me he uses 35% H2O2 added to water. I soaked my soil with tap water and let it sit for an hour, making sure it was damp – not soaking wet – throughout. Then, using a standard store-bought watering can, I applied a solution of 2 cups of H2O2 per 2 gallons of water to the bare soil; the soil actually started fizzing during application.

It worked: the fungus gnats were gone, and have never returned. That simple solution really did the trick – not to mention added oxygen to the
soil. Now I water with a milder solution of 1/2 cup per 2 gallons once every two weeks. My plant roots are always healthy and white because the H2O2 releases all its oxygen into the soil as it breaks down.

While you have a good solution for eliminating the insects in unused soil, the concentrated solution cannot be used with live plants, for fear of burning the roots. However, your dilute solution is a good prevention method and does increase the oxygen available to the plant.
Fungus gnats lay eggs on the soil and the larvae (little maggots) migrate to shallow soil layers to feed on roots and decaying matter. They are tiny, but you can sometimes see them floating or wiggling in puddles after watering. They are white and can have tan or grey shading. Root aphids are larger – perhaps a sixteenth of an inch long – fast moving, light-hating insects that feed on the roots. They are usually black, but are sometimes lighter shades of brown.

An organic method of getting rid of both the fungus gnat maggots and root aphids is beneficial nematodes (Seinernema feltiae). They attack all kinds of underground insects and are harmless to humans and pets. Fungus gnats are easily controlled using bacteria that attack only gnats and other flies. It is called Bacillus thuringiensis var, israelensis (BTI) and is the active ingredient of the product Gnatrol®. Botanigard ® is composed of a fungus, Beauveria bassiana, which attacks aphids, whiteflies and thrips. It is recommended as a spray for use above ground but it can be used as a drench to destroy root aphids.

thanks for the pest fighting tips. :D

I read on this stuff I been using called azamax that it's good for a drench. I can imagine there are better products, but I will cosignfor it's mite fighting properties. If it works as good as a drench, it will be good for both systemic and a foliar. Just a thought. looks good dude. All that lite sure will be a major plus. +++

so I bought another screen, couldnt find what I wanted so I settled with a chicken wire fence. Itll do the trick, but I wanted a plastic one or somethin. whatever, the holes are smaller thats the important thing. Still have to go out and get some bug shit lol im a stoner......PICS up later...oh the plants look are growing great.... like a boss

Is this screen ok, or are the holes too small?

me and my buddy here agree. we love your scrog. we both wish we had the space.
:rocker:

Hey Stoobie, hope you resove your bug issue brother, I found silver fish in my grow along with other very tiny bugs but they would move too fast and couldn't really get a good look at them. I forget but do you have fans moving the air? I think my soil was retaining too much water and then came the bugs or they came from outside.

Sorry, I'm a little buzzed so I ramble, but yes those girls are looking very nice and sturdy. I see you got the chicken wire, I personally would not use it just because I prefer squares, but the concept is the same. It is pretty easy to spend an hour or more just studying the branches and keeping one step ahead of her. Good luck man, I'll be posted.

i havent resolved the bug issue yet, unfortunatly. I do need another fan, i dont think i have the best air circulation and that could be what is causing the fungus gnats. Yea you're right sisco, I dunno if I like the chicken wire either. the holes are almost too small. I might take it off and just use the original netting.

Hope you can get rid of the critters.
You could just buy some insulated wire and just go across both ways and make your two inch squares like that, after removing the chicken wire, :grinjoint:
Good work so far. :peace:

yea you right, oldmedman. i just went to hydro shop and bought some wire/twine to make squares smaller. I am going to take the chicken wire off. I also bought the insectiside, 20$ add 1.4g per gallon of water. everytime I flush. lets hope it works. I have to take the chicken wire off and put the twine up. After I do all that ill post some pics. thanks for all the support you guys!!!! makes me feel special lol
